  • The 11th Generation Honda Civic has really raised the bar in the compact car category and for 2022, the Civic adds the Hatchback to the roaster. Available with either a 2.0 or turbo 1.5L engine and CVT or 6 Speed Manual transmission, the new Civic Hatchback will be a smile on your face in your day to day drive.

    I got this car 5 months ago. Just had the oil change at 3,500. Wanted the break in oil out early. They noticed the rubber door seal was not seated properly but could not fix it so they ordered a replacement. I didn't even have to ask. Well, that's an equine of an alternate hue. Normally have to argue over such things. So far this had been a great experience.

    I'm a fan of old Honda, around early 90's and older. The new Civic looking better than it has in looking time but I hate how much they are charging for the hatch, and they are charging for paint plus there no rear vents!

    I'm stuck between this vehicle and the Toyota rav4 prime only because of the range for fuel etc... the civic is definitely winning so far. I really think it comes down to the design and the fact that I can finally learn how to drive a manual.

    Brian, Every time I see a detailed Civic review I am reminded of how badly undersized its chief Corolla competitor is. They share a common deficiency in head room but Civic got all the other dimensions right . I really hope some of Akio Toyoda's designers SUBSCRIBE to your channel, they could learn a lot. One idea Honda could take from Toyota is a 70 mile to the Imperial gallon
    Civic hybrid to go head to head with the most efficient Corolla sedan. That would be ideal for those who don't want to shift their own gears. Near the end of the video you say you are "more of a fan of the traditional hatch." Does Honda think hatch buyers are allergic to practicality? Is that why they offer a 'coupe lift back' instead of a genuine, squared-off hatch opening? ;-)

  • @jcsdesign

    This car is nearly perfect until I realize there wasn't vents at the back of the center console. Why are so many manufacturers deleting this feature? It looks so cheap without it. It can't be that expensive to make.

    • @jwattie144
      @jwattie144 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jwattie144 putting ducts under the seats came long before the vents behind the console. For a good while vents behind the console came standard for many economy cars. Now they are going back to no vents.

      @N2LADIES55 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most people that buy the Civic don't have children and rarely will anyone ride in the backseats plus it is a small space for HVAC so the lack of vents are moot..

    • @sshah2545
      @sshah2545 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right and wrong.
      Mirroring one of the other comments, Honda and all mfgs also have to consider the segment and buyer in general.
      They spend money on features that will attract buyers and cut costs elsewhere.
      In the compact segment, most buyers don’t have kids or have young children who don’t know/care/judge the lack of vents.
      2nd, no, it is not THAT expensive to build in the vents, but when you’re building a car comprised of 250,000 parts each, every piece of design counts and will add or remove the requirement for 200-300 small parts.
      Building and concealing the ducting required to get the cooled/heated air to the vents is much more expensive than than going under seat.
      It’s not really a priority when you consider the back seat will literally be empty 99.99% of the time with nobody to appreciate the effort (or the expense) required to design and build it.
      Again, the back seat being empty isn’t always true for everyone, but for the majority of buyers in this segment it is true.
      I have a Corolla hatch without vents. The lack of vents annoy me a tiny bit, but nobody ever sits back there, so big deal.
      Also I use my hatch to haul things, furniture from ikea as an example. In that scenario I’m glad there aren’t vents because even a relatively small box of 40-50lbs can slide and smash the vents. What would be the point to that?

    I have the 2022 Civic Sport Touring in Sonic Grey with the CVT. I have no issues with the CVT as Honda makes it so it's like a traditional automatic in the shifting. In the US, it does not come with the heated steering wheel and heated rear seats. I paid MSRP no make-up. The dealer where I got this from no has a one with a stick and is charging $7,500.00 over MSRP for it. Crazy!

    Overall I’ve been pretty pleased with mine. One big disappointment is the amount of squeaks, rattles and creaks from the dashboard area. Plastics behind the infotainment and also above the rear view mirror are really cheap and seemed not to be clipped together that well, I solved that myself by applying pressure to some of those sections and they clicked back into place. I think the QA/QC at the factory is lacking for that to be missed. Also, the Bose “premium” audio is pretty underwhelming, but it does sound better with the Centerpoint function turned off. Drives great, good fuel economy and the utility of the hatchback is fantastic.

I had a '14 Subaru Legacy with a cvt that was total ass and traded that car with only 19k to get away from that hated pos. I had a BMW with the zf-8. the most awesome transmission ever made, and then got this Honda and while I prefer gears and manuals, I have a teen driver right now and so the cvt is good enough for now and insurance is better than on that BMW.
