18:31 That's it ? Is that all you have to say about magic being a genetic trait ? Nothing about what it implies or the impact it has on the story ?
I mean, at the very least, it brings some perspective to the whole muggle sympathizers/blood-purist conflict. Suddenly it's not all black and white. The good guys are kind of in the wrong cause it turns out that blood, and bloodlines are important, but the bad guys are kinda right even if for all the wrong reasons.
You could have gone into more detail about how in their search for "blood purity" wizard society became inbred, wich we know tends to lead to all sorts of malformations, notably squibs, who tend to settle outside of magical society (just like Ms. Figg Harry's neighbor). Generations down the line, two squib descendents meet, fall in love, and have a magical baby. Wich would also mean that muggleborns are a myth btw

Dumbledore could "see" what the boys were up to because he was on the Chocolate Frog cards. Just like the portraits of headmasters could move to any other portraits of themselves, Dumbledore could visit any of his Chocolate Frog cards. When he was stripped of all his titles, he even said it's ok as long as they don't take him off the cards. *Another theory:* Mr and Mrs Evans loved and preferred James Potter (who they found amusing and charming) a lot more than they did Vernon Dursley, and this only exacerbated Petunia's resentment and jealousy of her sister Lily even more. What are your thoughts on that?

@@matthewmeyer4422 Nowhere is it stated that Lily's parents were killed by Voldemort. It is entirely likely that the Evans' would like James better than Vernon, as Vernon had a rather nasty bigoted attitude toward wizards, and they were proud to have a witch in the family, indicating they liked the wizarding world.
Also, Rowling has stated that Vernon and James met each other during a double date and that it didn't go well. So, no....the Potters were not dead by the time Vernon came along.
Other than that, I'm not really sure your sentence makes sense.

I can agree with it. I think magic aside, Vernon and Petunia were simply unlikable. Even when they were acting as “gracious hosts” they were pompous and irritating. James and Lily were lovable, fun people. Even if we can’t find definitive proof I can stand with this one

  • @wafflingmean4477
    @wafflingmean4477 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +22

I actually love the idea that Lily accidentally put her parents in the line of fire by joining the Order of the Phoenix, because it MASSIVELY enhances Petunia as a character. Petunia's cruelty of Harry initially seems to be from jealousy of Lily. Petunia never got to go to Hogwarts. She was the disappointment of the family.
That understandably creates resentment, but makes her cruelty of Harry seem insanely petty. And yes, I know many people are that petty, but Uncle Vernon already serves that role.
But perhaps Petunia's true hatred of Lily is actually because she believes Lily got their parents murdered by death eaters. Harry isn't just Lily's son. He's a daily reminder of everything wrong with Lily; both her mistakes and magical blood. If Lily had just been born normal, their family would have survived and been truly happy. Additionally, every time Petunia looks at Harry, she's reminded that one day, death eaters may come again, for her, her husband and her son. By putting Harry on her doorstep, Dumbledore placed the exact same target on Petunia's back that Lily placed on her parents. No wonder she hates raising him.
And so it makes even more sense that Petunia's only kind moment is when her nightmare becomes real. There's no point hating Harry anymore for what he may or may not cause. It's happening.

I want to point out that trelawney did say some prejudiced things about Firenze, but so did he and the centaurs were incredibly prejudiced towards humans and seers. I think that it was mostly a difference in opinion, because centaurs used the cosmos to predict the future and seers seemed to have more of a psychic inclination, and that difference in opinion caused them to be against eachother since they had to share divination and each thought the others methods were bunk.

I love the Snape code theory so much, if you look closely in the film, before Snape starts his code, he pretty much makes fun of harry because knows nothing of the Wizarding world. What's funny is that Snape thought he wasn't paying attention, so ij the film when Snape walks up to Harry, he looks down and sees the notes, evident that Harry WAS infact paying attention, that's when Snape starts the code, and it makes sense, after calling him out, and realizing that he actually wanted to be a charised and hard working wizard to learn his culture, he then says the code, which is essentially I'm sorry, for you and your mother, then he says, let us begin

    What about this theory?
In the book Tale of Three Brothers, the veil represents Death and the bridge (referenced in the book) refers to the pathway between Life and Death. The three brothers create the hallows to safely use beyond the veil - the invisibility cloak will let the user to safely pass through the veil and navigate whatever is beyond the veil, the elder wand is the only wand powerful enough to use on the other side of the veil, and the resurrection stone is the only way to safely recall the person who entered the veil, to be brought back to our world.
The three brothers were very powerful Wizards who found a way to safely go beyond the veil and also use the Deathly Hallows in our world as well.

I have a theory: Draco actually knew he was the owner of the Elder Wand after he disarmed Dumbledore. The reason he didn’t take it or was open about it, was because he knew that Voldemort would’ve killed him and his family for it.
Draco grew up in a magical family that dated back for centuries, and his house was full of magical relics and history, surely he would’ve known about the Deathly Hallows and how the Elder Wand worked.

Unless malfoys themselves believed in the wand’s existence, i highly doubt someone like draco would spend time analysing how a mythical wand works

About Harry making just the Dursleys mad by being a horcrux. Could it not be that it built up in them over time from the best part of 10 years of constant exposure. The breaks between school terms could mean that the effects of the horcrux are lessened within his magic friends. Moreover, the times during school in which the Durlseys aren't exposed could also lessen the effects, but takes much longer due to the amount of exposure. This could explain why Dudley shows remorse towards Harry when they leave him (in Order? in a deleted scene?)

    • @brentnakamura2488
      @brentnakamura2488 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

Dramatic effects of the locket Horcrux is better explained with proximity of TWO horcrux in overlapping same area of effects.
      First Movie Opening Scene:
McGonagall: "Albus, do you really think its safe, leaving him with these people? I've been watching them all day. They're the worst sort of Muggles imaginable. They really are"
Trusting McGonagall accuracy. Worst sort of Muggles imaginable before exposure to Harry.
Unless they were already exposed to a Horcrux that was never mentioned, I would call single Horcrux exposure unlikely cause of Dursleys being the worst sort of Muggles imaginable.

Anyone notice that Uncle Vernon hoped that Harry would get the death penalty in Order of the Phoenix. There's an argument that the Dementor's Kiss is a form of death penalty in the wizarding world. So the fact that Harry saved Dudley from a dementor attack, Uncle Vernon was hoping his son would get the wizarding death penalty too. Both penalties are equal in my view, you lose your soul with the Kiss, so you might as well be dead.

Useless isn’t accurate. People die that’s a true fact of life. Anyone of your friends and family will die all your pets will die. Death isn’t useless and they were not helpless they made their choices knowing full well they could die. But their death was needed so Harry could live. It is the greatest act of love one can commit. That’s why we all loved snape in the end because everything he did was mostly out of love. Even with Draco he killed dumbledore so that Draco can live he knew that the elder wand would transfer to Draco but wanted to make sure Voldemort didn’t know that. Like it blows my mind how much love some of these characters show that’s so misunderstood by everyone else I try to talk to about these subjects.

Here are some shocking facts about the Potters deaths:
*- Multiple people were responsible for it:* Voldemort for obviously doing the job, Peter for betraying the Potters by giving away their location to Voldemort, and Snape for telling Voldemort the prophecy which caused him to go after and kill the Potters.
*- It all could have been easily avoided:* if Snape had never told Voldemort about the prophecy in the first place, if the Potters had accept Dumbledore's request to be their secret keeper, if Sirius (who was the initial secret keeper) hadn't convinced the Potters to switch their secret keeper to Peter, if the Potters had not agreed with Sirius's idea to make Peter their secret keeper, or if Peter hadn't given up the Potters location.
*- Most shockingly of all,* still bitter over his past treatment of Snape, the fans took it out on one man (James Potter).
Tell me what you think of all this!

The fact that Hermione is so gifted has very much to do with her being muggle-born. She's not the first muggle-born to be a top student either. I think it has to do with the fact that a muggle-born wouldn't take magic for granted like kids of all-magic families.

But it just makes me think about how magical Harry was compared to Dudley and are overcompensating with gifts and have another layer of resentment towards him bc they had to “train” him. The Draco is a werewolf theory is a lot more in depth than mentioned here - there's a pretty good super carlin brothers video on it for anyone who CBA reading this comment, but here's the evidence:
    - the mark on Draco's arm, though confirmed to be present, is never confirmed to be a dark mark
    - when he shows the mark to borgin, he specifically threatens borgin with greyback and borgin believes malfoy knows and has sway with greyback without question after seeing the mark.
    - at the top of the tower the night dumbledore died, the death eaters put up a magical barrier that only bearers of the dark mark could pass through. The barrier goes up after Draco gets to the top of the tower and is taken down before Draco leaves the tower. Why would the death eaters stop to remove it if they all had dark marks?
    - at the beginning of deathly hallows, Voldemort taunts the malfoys about their cousin, tonks, marrying Remus. He says to Draco "will you babysit the cubs?" Which is a very specific and odd taunt.
    - throughout book 6 Draco is described as sickly, pale, skinny, dark circles under his eyes, regularly disappearing - same descriptions and odd circumstances as lupin in book 3. Obv he is disappearing to work on the vanishing cabinet, but that might not be the only reason.
    - Also in 6, dumbledore expresses surprise that Draco would invite greyback to hogwarts where his friends live. Draco refuses to make eye contact with greyback and says he didn't know he'd be coming, seems extremely upset to be near him.
    - narcissa specifically seeks out Snape to help Draco in the sixth year, Snape is known to be capable of brewing wolfsbane potion which in 3 lupin says not many can do reliably. Maybe she knew Draco needed Snape's potions skills from that year on.
JK said this theory is untrue, but it's one of my head canons. I think though most, if not all, of this evidence is circumstantial there's more than enough here to be plausible.

@@JDF1996 all of my arguments are based off the book. But you're right, in the films he does show one. There are a lot of plot differences between books and films, like how in GoF in the book it's actually Dobby who gives Harry the gillyweed, not Neville. And in HBP, the burrow is never burned down. That's only in the films. One of my favourite moments from OotP is a film only scene, when Sirius yells "nice one, James" to Harry when they are fighting death eaters together in the ministry. Doesn't happen in the book but it's a brilliant moment. GoF basically changes genre entirely from a murder mystery whodunnit (book) to an action suspense (film) because the film reveals Barry crouch jr way at the beginning and the book doesn't reveal him until after the third task/graveyard when Harry returns to the school. In the book Karkaroff, Maxime, Crouch SR and Ludo Bagman (a book only character) are all red herrings for who put Harry's name in the goblet but in the film you just know from the start that moody isn't moody because of that dumb tongue flicking thing they had him do.
But yeah the werewolf theory does not hold up in the world of the movies, only the books. A lot of fan theories apply only to one or the other because there are so many differences.

      He dined Voldemorts return (initially)

About the magic gene, it doesn't just appear out of nowhere ("muggle borns") nor disappears ( "squibs"). You need to have it in your genes. Hermione's mother probably had a great great grandparent who was a Wizard and married a muggle, then the magical gene went on, until she met Hermione's father, who certainly had a wizard great great grandparent. As both had the magical gene within their DNA, Hermione got it from both and was born a Witch. The same goes for Squibs. There must be at least a muggle in the bloodline. They are like two different species who are similar enough to produce offspring

I think what people are missing with the theory that Dumbledore knew Sirius was innocent is that Sirius TRIED to kill Pettigrew in public. There were DOZENS of witnesses. And no one, except Sirius and Pettigrew, knew that Pettigrew and not Sirius ended up being the secret keeper. Sirius was also in Azkaban for Pettigrews apparent murder, not just for the Potters deaths. There isn't exactly much point of a trial for a "murder" that happened in full view of a streetful of people, not in the wizarding world anyway. Given that Dumbledore had no reason to think Pettigrew was still alive and didn't know he had been the one to betray Lilly and James, he would have no real reason to visit Sirius.

And Harry spent the first half of sixth year fighting his jealousy towards her boyfriends and the conflict that she's his best friend's sister and therefore should be off limits. When he drinks Felix felicis accidentally makes Ginny and Dean fight and break up. Then he's in detention for the quidditch finale so Ginny takes his post as seeker and wins the cup for the team. They first kiss at the celebration party and are together since. Harry breaks up with her after Dumbledore's funeral to protect her. They resume their relationship after the battle of Hogwarts. Harry's feelings for Ginny grew slowly over half a school year, there was no need for Ginny to give him love potion. Especially as Harry maintained his feelings for her while being away on his mission, there's a scene when he goes to Voldemort under the cloak that he meets Ginny and wishes he could get together with her but then he decides it is more important to end the battle and sacrifice himself to save the others. That doesn't come from a love potion either.

It's said McGonagall was the one who gave it to her, so maybe the real truth is that for some reason McGonagall had one in her office, perhaps for private study, and Hermione passed through, saw it, recognised it from a book, and swiped it. And the reason McGonagall didn't notice it was missing is because Hermione would use the Time Turner to duplicate the Time Turner. Just as she was in multiple places at once, she would have one version of herself replace the Time Turner in McGonagall's office, perhaps even creating some form of time loop. It would all work so long as she had a justifiable reason to visit McGonagall's office once a day.
Since McGonagall seemed to be personally managing Hermione to ensure she could actually handle the increased workload, Hermione could have dropped in for 5 minutes each day. McGonagall may have only noticed Hermione had the Time Turner once she heard that Hermione had physically been in two classes at the same time. Perhaps prior to that stage, she'd thought Hermione was just doing the coursework of extra subjects in her personal time, without a teacher's help, using the textbooks. She must have been utterly amazed Hermione was keeping up until she heard Hermione was actually present for classes she was enrolled in but not expected to actually attend.
Then she probably sat Hermione down and waited for her little time loop to end, which likely would have involved the Time Turner on McGonagall's desk vanishing right in front of both of them (as it went back to the beginning of the loop, becoming the one on Hermione's person), and then for McGonagall to demand Hermione take it out of her pocket.

My theory is that all the different horcruxes had various different affects to them with the locket being the specific one to make people be more moody and irritable.

I don't think Dumbledore could have had Harry grow up knowing who he was. It would have gone to his head, it'd have to. Without the suffering and humility it engendered Harry couldn't have defeated no nose.

Also fun fact. On numbani, if you look in the reflections of the buildings, you can see the reflection maps of the PvE map.
It's mostly just added boxes and force fields to zone areas. But it also has the addition where the map continues to the side of the airport

I honestly like the idea of Dudley marrying cho chang, or any other witch really, not only because of the potential character growth it implies, but also because I think the idea of a magical Dursley kid would be a fun and interesting story to explore.

Neither James or Lilly have black hair…
Harry seems to share more traits with snape than those we know of James…
This could have been as simple as James being infertile… Or as twisted as polyjuice…
(I’ll leave that one to your imaginations)
Edit: yes it could be a recessive gene…
But this idea is more interesting
Edit2: also, snape was there the night the potters died… implying he knew their location. So him and Lilly must’ve reconciled.

35:00 Why would Ginny go give Harry a love potion and then go have a makeout session with someone else? (Yes that was the moment Harry realized his feelings in the book.) Some try doing that to get someone jealous but with a love potion there's no reason to do so.

Hermione used to go on holiday with her parents for 2 weeks at the beginning of the summer then go to Rons. She also went home for Christmas and Easter.

The dursleys were exposed to a hurcrux a lot longer than anyone else in the story. They have no innate magical protection against the influence like the magical community would. And they don't go into detail about how he was treated as a baby (as far as i remember)

judging by birthdays alone, hermine's birthday is just 10 months before harrys, while technically possible, its ~315 days between their birth and a pregnancy is ~280 days, and you cant instantly get pregnant again from my understanding.

    1) Dumbledore used a time turner to always precisely where needed the most and to explain off the deus ex machina contradicting the entire series of Ron being able to mimic parseltongue at the final battle.
This implying that Dumbledore had studied the future to learn that the only way Voldemort could be killed was to use Harry as a sacrificial piece and puppet like he did, among many other things that had to go precisely as they did.

The theory of Ginny giving Harry a love potion isn't true because when Harry smells Amortensia, he smells Ginnys perfume. He smells a flowery scent that reminded him of the Burrow.

27:13 Didn't Cedric Diggory die while he was headmaster? I mean, he died far from school grounds so maybe that explains it but he certainly died while Dumbledore was headmaster.

I’ve thought being master of death was true since I read the book, I thought that was another reason for snapping the wand. The horcrux angle never even crossed my mind, and it doesn’t seem as solid. Why name the book after them and not the horcruxs if they weren’t finally brought together? What was the point? Voldemort was already powerful, he didn’t need a special wand to kill Harry unless J. K. had another reason for that storyline.

VERY Interesting and thought-provoking. As for the last theory: if close proximity to the horcrux caused the Dursley's to be nasty to Harry -- explain Aunt Marge.
