Please don't *ever* make a theory video like this ever again. How can you call yourself a potterhead if you believe such an insult to Hagrid's character ???
It seems more likely Dumbledore was behind this stuff rather than Voldemort. Dumbledore could teach him magic, fix his wand, assign Hagrid to keep an eye on Harry, etc...
Maybe Dumbledore secretly taught Hagrid to apparate so that he could do certain errands without getting in trouble. Considering that the dursleys had pretty much offended him by insulting Dumbledore I don't think he had any remorse doing the pig's tail. Also that is probably a writer's way of making it more shocking by not uttering a spell out loud. And before JK Rowling figured out what kind of spells system there was for her series.
@@thareelhelloagain Hagrid admit it didn't work, we don't know how good of a student he was but I'm guessing probably about average when it comes to magic.
The issue with this is that Voldemort wanted to kill Harry himself. If Hagrid was under Voldemort's command, Hagrid wouldn't send him out to die via other means.
@@bird_obsession I'm not even saying he was under his control. Why didn't he give them a heads up that they could get eaten. Then why didn't Harry and Ron ask him WTF when they met him again.
@@johnryder8859he had to tell them in front of Fudge, so he couldn’t say everything he wanted/needed to. I agree with another comment saying this whole theory makes more sense assuming Dumbledoor helped Hagrid rather than Voldemort
I was surprised by how much of this made sense, however as you said at the start, all this does is show how many plot holes there are in Harry Potter, that people are having to come up with ideas like this to address them. Also, the Death Eaters may have thought that due to his giants blood, Hagrid would be too difficult to kill, so they just held him captive instead.
Hes resistant to stuns and stuff, but I think a killing curse would just you know, kill him. That spell is powerfull and if it wouldnt have an effect on him, wouldnt that just undermine the whole harry is the only one to survive plot.
One of the most ludicrous fan theories yet. Obviously Hagrid had learned quite a lot of magic, possibly from those notorious rule breakers, Loony, Prongs, and Padfoot. The death stick, possessed by Dumbledore, very likely repaired more than one broken wand.
yes absolutely! especially when he became a teacher 😂 but i think he was more comedically ignorant than dangerous, he could handle a lot more than the average human. Therefore he wasnt totally confident in what would be dangerous to the students and what wouldnt.
Yes, exactly. There was no malice in him at all. He was child-like (witness all those huge sulking episodes when things went wrong) and completely ignorant of how other people coped (or didnt) with animals which he admired, but he had no bad intent. He would have either worked at or gone to school with most of the people he'd known (he and Voldemort were just a couple of years shy of one another) and there is no way he would follow anyone whom he knew had framed him as Voldemort did. In fact, I find the entire thing preposterous. Rowling is on record as saying she created Dumbledore's and Hagrid's names (white and red respective) to represent good. This from the author herself. What more is there to say?
Even IF Hagrid wanted to a be a death eater it wouldn't happen anyway, he'd be at best used like Quarrel, at worse outright killed, Hagrid is to child like and has a tendency to blab things he shouldn't.
I men if you don't mind having an giant 3 headed dog behind a locked door an 1st year can get through with alohomora, raising werewolf cubs in his dorm, raising an acromantula in the closet, making 4th years go through the pain of raising useless blast-ended skrewts, keeping an giant brother named Grawp in the forbidden forest he isn't quite dangerous
I believe that, if the Fantastic Beasts prequels had continued, we would have seen why Dumbledore so deeply trusted Hagrid with his life. I am quite certain that Hagrid saved Dumbledore’s life at a most critical moment, to be so profoundly trusted. After DD achieved the elder wand, he used it to repair Hagrid’s wand and taught him quite a bit of magic, cautioning him to use it sparingly, as not to attract too much attention….and yes, that includes apparition and transfiguration. In no way was Hagrid ever a DE.
@@just_some_greek_dude Johnny Depp, playing Grindelwold, got "cancelled" before the movies could continue. After he gained redemption in court, interest had waned.
Fan theories are almost always completely stupid. This is one of them. He's a HALF-GIANT. No way the racist mother-frackers that were the Death Eaters would let him in. For example, they didn't let the werewolf in and he was helping Voldemort.
They are saying he was aligned with Voldermort and used as such, we obviously know he didnt have the dark mark. So perhaps its not the theory thats stupid but the scope of ones own comprehension of the theory that might be the problem?
I agree. Hagrid is what they'd consider as a "halfbreed". His knowledge of spell casting is very limited. Tom Riddle aka Voldemort is the living reason why he got expelled from Hogwarts in the first place! Although Hagrid didn't know who framed him, why would Voldemort let him join among his ranks anyway? And by the 7th book, Hagrid was taken prisoner by the Death Eaters! And people have the audacity to claim him being a Death Eater as a legit theory?
Yeah completely ridiculous as the Death Eaters would NOT allow Hagrid in. Voldemort was a man who hated anyone who was not a Pure Blood a sentiment shared by all his loyal Death Eaters. Also Hagrid was furiously loyal to Dumbledore and member of the original Order of the Phoenix!
It's also made clear in OotP that Hagrid is resilient to a lot of spells due to being half giant. So spells could have been hitting him during the Battle of Seven Potters and might not have done much harm. I'm also guessing that every other escort would have been calling their doppelganger "Harry" to keep the illusion.
JK Rowling has stated that on a podcast: Dumbledore had placed a charm on the house and knew immediately what had occurred. He dispatches Hagrid to fetch Harry. How he gets there so fast has not been revealed but I would guess perhaps portkey.
Hagrid came there by the motor bike from Sirius who wa also quickly at the scene. If Albus could not tell Hagrid the location...Albus had been there and could go there...or enhance the motorbik to go there...(May be even as a portkey)
@@reiniernn9071 Didn't Hagrid get the motorcycle from Sirius at the scene. The assumption being that Sirius got there on it, gave it to Hagrid, who "cant" use magic, so he had a way to travel safely with the baby an he disaparated after worm tail. Been a year or two sense last reading that part though.
I can absolutely see Hagrid sort of getting roped into the Death Eaters without really knowing what he's getting involved in, learning of what Voldemort plans to do and his methods, being horrified, and leaving, never to speak of it again.
@@Auron1Roxas2 No, but he could absolutely be tricked by someone manipulative. We even see this with Norbert, he got so excited when he was given the egg that he blabbed about the Philogopher's Stone's defenses.
@@Auron1Roxas2He wasn't an idiot, but he absolutely would have fallen into any scheme Voldemort wanted. Framed for chamber of secrets, told him how to get past fluffy, doesn't understand umbridge is an evil twat until it slaps him in the face, constantly convinced by Harry and Hermione into giving out essential Info right in the middle of school grounds.
@@Auron1Roxas2 hagrid is awesome, but he did sell out the way to get past fluffy for example and he did foster aragog, resulting in an entire acromantula-colony in the forbidden forest, which is in itself bad enough, but those were also brought into battle by the death eaters. Let's not deny it, hagrid is a lovely and honorable character, but he is an idiot 😅
@@domenikkunz9798 He didn't "sell out" he was drunk, he's always had a thing for monsters cause he sees them as being misjudged just like people misjudge him so he can relate to them. None of that matters though because Hagrid isn't stupid enough to not see the death eaters for who they are and to be involved with them.
If Hagrid was that good at magic that he could learn to fly, I would imagine that with his half giant advantages, he could be a threat to Voldemort. Why follow him when he could overtake him? Dumbledore could have easily apparated with Hagrid to The Potters and then left, telling him what to do.
I get that it's fun to gather pieces to form theories, and that like you said, the people who make them don't necessarily believe them. But there's already points besides how some things were just plotholes due to certain concepts not being properly introduced in the earlier books yet. Hagrid could have just been around to visit James and Lily back then easily. They were good friends and probably one of the few ones who accepted him for who he was, and that's the whole reason why it makes no sense for him to be a Death Eater surrounding himself with people who hate anything not "pure" when he had people like Dumbledore who accepted squibs, poltergeist, and whatnot and gave them a place to call home. Plus, his connection to Harry is genuine since he obviously identified with him in a way seeing how he couldn't be seen as a normal person and always "The Boy Who Lived" instead. Hagrid sent all the letters to Privet Drive, so he must have witnessed his fair share of Dudley treating Harry like complete garbage as a human punching bag. He probably observed even more before that since he could have tasked to watch Harry even before then. Looking at it that way, his spell against Dudley hardly seems bad. And Dumbledore must have pulled some strings to allow Hagrid to use magic on that mission since he even said that was why he was so keen to take it. Wouldn't surprise me if the Ministry let that one transgression against a Muggle go because of that and because it was against someone treating Harry poorly. As for Hagrid encouraging Harry in the Triwizard tournament, it's been known he had a different perspective on what is dangerous compared to others. He was just excited for Harry and probably wanted people to see he could do something that wasn't about stopping Voldemort with his past fame. He was always supporting his Quidditch too, and it's not like he didn't have moments where he disagreed with them putting themselves at risk. As for spells not being directed at him, I'm guessing it's because he's not as affected by magic with giant blood. And I think Voldemort didn't kill him in the forest since he thought Harry was already dead and he wanted to see Hagrid suffer instead. And he wanted to show the others there was a clear witness to Harry's "death".
One other thing you didn't consider was how easy Hagrid was to manipulate. Barty Crouch Jr. was the one who told Hagrid about the dragons in the hope that Hagrid would tell Harry, which he did, but he also told Madame Maxime.
I think super carlin bros said that hagrid may have been in the death eater circles while at school, but then chose not to join after Tom Riddle got him expelled
Even though I don't believe in the theory, I can see the evidence. Starting his journey to Hogwarts which would bring Voldemort back, "accidently" telling Harry about Fluffy and how to get to the Philosopher's Stone, not being killed in the Forbidden Forest, being the one to take him in the Battle of Seven Potters and many more. Note: this is coming from someone who only watched the movies so i'm sure there's plenty more evidence in the books :).
14:09 also, (I may be remembering incorrectly) but didn’t several stunning spells hit Hagrid in the back in the book? Some deflected off of him due to his being a giant but he does eventually pass out from being hit leaving Harry to navigate the plummeting motorcycle himself.
FIRSTLY Death Eaters hated half bloods and mixed breeds. Hagrid was a half giant. SECONDLY Hagrid dropped off harry at the Dursley's house after James and Lily were murdered, so if he were a death eater, he knew where Harry was THE WHOLE TIME and NEVER told Voldemort. LASTLY Hagrid was bullied by slytherin students while he was at hogwarts, which is why his spider Aragog was out in the dark forest in the first place. So It's highly unlikely he would side with people that treated his animals so poorly.
Did Hagrid know that Tom Riddle was Lord Voldemort or did he just know that he was the accuser? Also Dumbledore send him to the Potter house and the fidelius charm was defunct and on top of that the fidelius charm doesn't hide the address, it hides the actual location. After the fatal night the house was concealed from muggles, but still visibile for wizards. This wouldn't be possible if Pettigrew still were the secret keeper. If Hagrid led Harry to Voldemort in the forrest, Voldy wouldn't be surprised by his presence and instead be waiting for him. And telling Harry about the stone only makes sense if Dumbledore told him so, if it really was accidental or if he knew that only Harry(and maybe Dumbledore) can solve the last task. But it would be against everything we know about Voldy to trust a half-giant and a first-year-student to achieve something he can not. Also it must have been without Quirrell's knowledge, because he didn't had a strategy, again.
That's actually a good point. Hagrid attended Hogwarts up to year 3 before his expulsion and had his wand taken away. Therefore, he wouldn't of been able to practice magic unless someone lent him a wand or offered to teach him, which I seriously doubt it. Going back to this, his incapability to successfully casting spells, among other reasons, would've limited his usefulness as a Death Eater.
Most of this can be chalked up to Hagrid making poor decisions, and there’s no way voldemort would want a half giant in his ranks. He only accepted werewolves, dementors, ect. into his army as cannon fodder to attack Hogwarts. Also as gameskeeper I’m pretty sure he’s responsible for wild pigs on the grounds (I don’t know if it’s explicitly mentioned but a few video games depict them). Him needing a spell to regrow pig tails seems likely if the pigs get attacked by magical creatures.
There were multiple people keeping an eye on Harry while he was growing up at the doorsleeves, including missus figg and professor McDonald in her cat form. I believe that the reason haggard attacked Dudley was because karma via his connection to double the workcomma he was much more knowledgeable of the extent of the abuse Harry had suffered at the hands of this family then we might originally anticipate.
Hagrrid also had an affinity for dark and man eating creatures like dragons, blast ended screwts, acromantulas, "fluffy", he tells Quirrel how to get pas the 3 headed dog to get the philosopher's stone, & he most likely illegally creates new dark creatures like the blast ended skrewts mix of a manticore and fire crab. The acromantulas Hagrid harbors in the dark forest ar XXXXX creatures known wizard killers and like the basilisk are almost certainly illegal to breed and harbor. Hagrid also sends Harry to Aaragog almost getting him killed. Hagrid faced a lot of prejudice as a child although it is ironic that this might have made him susceptible to Tom Riddle's influence Riddle coud have exploited Hagrid's desire to be accepted to get him in his ranks. They dont accept you I will make them accept you I will make you one of us all you have to do is take my mark and they wil have to respect you Hagrid. Hagrid would have been very desirable as a death eater as a half giant he woud be trememndously powerful, he coud bring other giants to join Tom's army a formiddable force, he could be a double agent, Hagrid was also a very powerful wizard and could breed and control dark creatures that Riddle could have used in his army. For al we know Hagrid might have even helped Riddle with the basilisk Hagrid seems to connect instantly with dark creatures especilly man eaters. Perhaps being half giant Hagrid has a taste for flesh himself and Riddle could supply this in abundance for Hagrid and his dark creatures if they served the dark lord.
I gotta tell you my mind is open but I have no idea how this is going to be justified. Haggard hasted blood status and he was an incredibly gentle person.
Hagrid is the trio’s best friend. Granted Hagrid can’t keep a secret and is somewhat clumsy and impractical as a wizard but to have him involved in the Death Eaters would either be a ploy or a mistake on Hagrid’s part. Maybe if the Death Eaters bribed or blackmailed Hagrid with the involvement of some peculiar magical creature then only maybe could Hagrid be a Death Eater. Highly unlikely theory but still entertaining.
I love this theory! It takes an extreme amounts of smarts, cunning and wickedness from an individual to have everyone fooled and convinced they are a buffoon. It's the easiest way to carry out your secret and dark plans. There has been quite a number of instances in fiction where the goofball turned out to be a manipulative mastermind of legendary skill and power
Let me shut this down in one go. Hagrid got expelled and taken on as a groundskeeper. This is at a place where all of those bigwigs went to school. He has a personality that gets on with most. It is almost impossible for him to not know all of the order as he was indebted himself that created said organization. A man who would be unable to dislike someone almost as quirky as himself.
If Hagrid took the job as groundkeeper to keep an eye on Dumbledore for Voldy, why did Voldy order Snape to get the job teaching potions at Hogwarts to serve as Voldy's spy on Dumbledore? Wish I could buy this ... anything that keeps Snape where he belongs (in a lab brewing and far away from a classroom) is a good thing, IMO
Because he did not fully trust Snape. Meanwhile, Hagrid was Voldemort's ace. His trump card. The one person he trusted the most and the one whose existence was a carefully kept secret from everybody except a selected few. Ergo, he was sent there to spy on the spy.
I love theories like this, where you don’t necessarily think it’s true, but you examine all the evidence that still looks like it proves it or disprove it
While I do not think he was a death eater, I do think that Hagrid was a powerful magic wielder, this being the reason why Dumbledore kept him close, in order to make sure that Hagrid won't start using magic without restriction. One of the reasons I say this, is that when he was supposed to be under the Imperius curse he was able to speak freely, is due to the fact he was pretending to be under the curse, when in fact he was either immune to it, or to powerful to be under its effect. Another interesting aspect is when he was struck on his motorcycle, he was just stunned briefly instead of being killed, like others. The Apparition ability is a very interesting one because only Dumbledore is able to Apparate within Hogwarts grounds, as he mentioned, but what if Hagrid is also able to do that just because of his strong magical abilities? I would say that Hagrid was a loyal member of The Order of the Phoenix and to Dumbledore because he was left to study magic after being expelled and even helped out by Dumbledore and his magical abilities are the only reason why Dumbledore entrusted him with so many difficult tasks and put in his care so many important things and even Harry.
I could see Hagrid becoming a death eater after being convinced that his precious magical beasts would eventually be found out and killed by muggles. And the only way to make sure they stay safe is to help Voldemort take over the world.
*abraxan horse* or thestral would be hagrid’s most plausible way to magically travel. Not dark magic. The whole theory is ridiculous. He obviously knew the potters lived in godric’s hallow, and once they died the charm lifted, dumbledore would have known at once. and he was able to easily spot the home.
the horse yes, but the thestrals wasent able to carry his weight. he mention that in book 7. and how to get to the location of godrics hallow quick would be port key or beeing stationed close by at the time. Dumbledoor is known to be able to make a portkey ON the spot, he does that twice in the 5th book. once to grimholt place and once to the school.
A picture of someone who also had a picture in Dumbledore's office could have seen/heard Voldemort burst into the Potter cottage and kill James and Lilly, then report back to Dumbledore immediately. Dumbledore could have dispatched Hagrid as soon as the death's of the Potters occurred. Hagrid could have been stationed near Godric's Hollow for some other reason and was thus nearby.
Fan theories to me don’t necessarily fall flat because they don’t exactly fit the details, mechanics or exact chronology within the overarching world. They fall flat because they fragrantly don’t fit or most importantly when they don’t fit the characters or the themes. This is one where characters and themes are betrayed. It is like Hagrid saying to Harry with pride: you are grand wizard Harry
Also that point you had that says he used magic despite having been expelled. He used in front of the Dursleys, Petunia saw magic from Lily in the past and most likely told Vernon if he hadn’t seen it too but they both ALREADY knew magic exists, like in the BOOKS, they had taken Harry in and tried to “-squash the magic outta him.”
I have a Harry Potter fan theory. Says in the Harry Potter books, that whoever calls valdamort the dark lord is a death eater. And that’s what you call him
Dumbledore secretly had the Elder Wand, the only wand known to be able to fix other wands. The movie doesn't show it, but Harry used it to repair his original wand before breaking it. So the theory is that Hagrid's wand was repaired by Dumbledore before he hid it inside Hagrid's umbrella. And once he was 17, the trace would end on him too. Since they broke his wand at 13, the Ministry wouldn't have thought to go back & find a legal reason to put the trace on him as an adult. They thought he couldn't learn wandless magic well enough to be a danger & thought he had no wand. But Dumbledore had Hagrid running all kinds of errands for him so Dumbledore had to be the one that made sure Hagrid could go places. He surely kept on teaching Hagrid in secret because he knew Hagrid was framed & too innocent to want to kill fellow students when he was so soft hearted towards animals most wizards avoided. It's also revealed wizards 17+ can apparate with someone underage & it doesn't trigger the trace since the underage wizard wasn't the one that cast the spell. Also, Dumbledore "rides" Fawkes. Also Hagrid has hippogrifs & thestrals handy to ride. They are quite strong if they can carry 3 regular wizards at a time, so surely they can carry 1 half-giant. Plus later we learn it's not a plot hole about who picked up Voldemort's wand. Snape arrived 1st!! He was already traxking Voldemort as far as he could & then the instant Lily diedfollowed by Dumbledore who no doubt called Hagrid to him. Maybe the deluminator can work long distance. Maybe he used Fawkes to bring him quickly. Maybe he used his patronus to deliver a message to Hagrid where to come & then Hagrid apparated Either way then Sirius arrived, loaned Hagrid his motorbike.
Here are some of my humble thoughts on the topic: First to keep in mind, the series was meant for kids, especially the first couple books. I think some of these points are just "plotholes" or stuff that just doesnt matter in a kids tale, I dont see why the author should have made hagrid a bad guy on purpose. Hes just supposed to be the friendly kind hearted side character, who has some flaws but is a true soul. Apart from that, to the point of him knowing lots of magic, I think dumbledore just repaired his wand, which is now hidden in his pink umbrella and Hagrid either practised on his own, or learned something from dumbledore. But we dont see any extrodinary magic from him, lots of spells fail, like turning dudley into a pig, althouh you could say that it was on purpose when he cut of the wagon in the battles of the seven potters. Theres just that he "flew" to the island where the dursleys where hiding to get harry, I think that is just an error from the author, I dont think the whole narrative was in place at the time where she wrot this, he could have just used a boat from somewhere and turned up the same way they left. Another point which I hold against the theory is, that noone of the former death eaters seems to recognise hagrid or treat him well, like malfoy trying to kill buckbeak, why would he do that to an old friend. This suggests that the death eaters all didnt know of hagrid. Apart from wormtail like the theory says??? Why would that be? And so the point with the death eaters not killing hagrid on sight makes no sense either, for that they needed to know that he was on their side. You could say that hagrid just played his role perfectly but damn thats unrealistic, somebody had got to notice if he was this gifted, at least when he went to school. And I also dont think he could have hidden a dark mark all those years, like would he never lift his shirt on one of his arms, somebody got to notice that. Or especially in the later books, thats kind of a flaw in the books too, but shouldnt it be the first thing to do when you meet someone, to just go "hey man just show me your left arm pls" And see if hes a death eater or not. Of course he could have been a servant that didnt wear the dark mark, which would make sense, as he is rather like greyback, voldemort hates half breed. So why ally with him then, or even train him. Lol I wrote alot, I dont know if anyone wil even read all this, anyways I had fun writing it, have a nice day if you actually got this far
You can explain the transfiguration on Dudley's face as Hagrid being so furious over the Dursley slurs he was unable to control his emotions, and the magic spilled out of him. Harry performed several acts of magic as a child even without a wand, so did Neville, Tom Riddle etc. The connections to powerful people seems weak just because Hagrid is seen as Dumbledore's unofficial bodyguard / errand boy and would've gained connections through Albus (as well as magical means to get from A to B). The rest of it seems plausible, except the Death Eaters didn't know there'd be 7 Harrys, or whom he be paired with, which they would have if Hagrid was an informant. Hagrid also cried over Harry's supposed death, which he'd have no reason to do if he'd been setting him up to fail for 7 years.
1. I'd attribute Hagrid's connections to Dumbledore, who saw Hagrid's innate talent of working with magical beasts, specifically an Acromantula, an infamously deadly creature. 2. I'd venture a guess that Dumbledore had more security measures around the Potters than the Fidelius Charm, so it could've been an OotP "strike force" of Sirius, Hagrid and maybe a couple unnamed characters going in for a "rescue mission", plus the Fidelius charm might be broken if the Secret Owner (not the Keeper) dies (not established in canon, just a speculation, also doesn't seem to hold well with Grimmauld's Place, or perhaps they even ran into Pettigrew?). 3. The flying part is strange I'll admit, but "instinctive" magic is an established thing and Hagrid was quite upset at that point (Harry used a similar spell against aunt Marge as a kid). 4. OK, but why not deliver the stone straight to Voldy after picking it up from Gringott's? 5. Voldy's wand...well the obvious answer would be Pettigrew - he was depicted as a coward, so wouldn't act against Harry on his own, but maybe he stashed the wand somewhere safe as a bargaining chip? He was the Secret Keeper after all. Maybe Voldy forced him to come with, in case he was lying, to enact some Deatheater justice. Also in the books the wand was used to murder Frank Bryce at the Riddle's mansion way before the TWT. But yeah, definitely an interesting theory to think about :)
The choice of punishment was a bit suspect, especially with the fact that Hagrid himself left Harry's side knowing the dangers that lurked in the Forest. This showed that Hagrid intentionally left Harry to the dark forces without adequate protection. It is also strange why Hagrid's life was spared and never really engaged in battle.
But that part is the one that makes no sense. If that was the case, wouldn't Dumbledore have suspected something if Hagrid knew the location and was to randomly appear there before anyone else? More than likely, it was Dumbledore who handed him a portkey that took him to the town.
A little addition to this is the fact that Harry was made believe that Tom Riddle threatened Hagrid in the vision conjured by his journal, and that Hagrid was later framed for opening the chamber. I believe that this very scene was a faux memory, placed there by Voldemort on purpose, to make Harry believe Hagrid was innocent and not at all in bounds with Voldemort.
I thought that once the explosion happened the Fidelius Charm broke thus allowing Dumbledore to tell Hagrid where to go. It would have been easy to have a house elf send him there. & the fact that Hagrid was trying to turn Dudley into a full pig not just give him a tail means that he’s not “that good” @ magic.
I think it could be opposite, Hagrid was frighting against the Voldemort and Death Eaters, as when Sirius Black and Professor Lupin met under Shrieking Shack (if remember correctly Peter Pettigrew had a wand in the film), plus rats are clever creatures and Peter Pettigrew could have taken and hid Lord Voldemort. Hagrid sae what did and said to Professor Dumbledore and Ministry of Magic will be spy for them to help to catch the Death Eaters and Voldemort, when he was expelled* so Dumbledore help Hagrid to complete his study at Hogwarts in secret. Plus we don’t if Hagrid was train and license Animagus by Ministry of Magic. As in Chamber of Secrets Tom Riddle (Voldemort) said when he met Harry Potter inside the chamber of secrets said ‘Professor Dumbledore did not trust him and was being watched by him’ that why he got Hagrid blamed of crime. Which leads me to this point you saw all though the films Hagrid was animal lover, so why would he kept a spider who was scared of snakes as pet if Hagrid was one Voldemort followers, it doesn’t make sense.
I really love this theory as it adds an interesting perspective to the story, however, having read all the books and dived deep into Potter-lore myself, I have to poke some holes in this. Firstly, Hagrid is friends with a lot of people, both powerful and otherwise. His friendship with Aragog being the most notorious so I really dont think its odd that some of his friends happen to be powerful people. Hagrid is also older than Fudge and was likely already game keeper when Fudge attended Hogwarts so they probably met then especially since Hagrid has a habit of befriending everyone he meets including students. Not to mention that Hagrid was once accused of opening the Chamber of Secrets, and even though it was hushed up at the time, Fudge probably heard the full story when he started working at the ministry which would also have put Hagrid on his map. His closeness with Harry mainly boils down to the fact that Hagrid was friends of Harry's parents and was the one who rescued him as a baby so I think he just felt protective especially as Hagrid has a deeply caring nature. This is why I dont think Hagrid was being evil when he gave Dudley his pig tail. Hagrid lost his mother and father at a young age and was then expelled from Hogwarts, his only home. He did not have anyone to teach or guide him so I dont think he ever emotionally matured past a certain age, which is why he simply saw his attack on Dudley as more of a harmless prank, knowing it could be easily reversed magically, not fully appreciating how the Dursleys felt about magic. He was also not violating the Statute of Secrecy by performing magic infront of the Dursleys as they were already aware of magic and therefore it would not have been seen as an instance of 'exposure' which is what the law is about. Although he did kind of 'over step the boundary' when he gave Dudley his tail. Next, Id like to address how Hagrid got to Harry so quickly. This is purely my own theory: Dumbledore would have known (since the prediction was made to him) that both Harry and Neville were going to be a target of Volemort, so he obviously put up defenses but I also think its possible that he had someone from the Order keeping watch outside. Even if they couldnt see the Potter house they could still keep watch - Reference: The Deathly Hallows when Death Eaters are keeping watch outside Grimmauld Place despite not being able to actually see it. Perhaps Hagrid was on guard duty at the time. We know the Fidelius Charm broke when Volemorts curse backfired because Siris was able to find the cottage immediately after, so thats probably why Hagrid was first on the scene. In the end I dont think Hagrid was a Death Eater any more than Ron or Dumbledor were, its clear thats not what J.K.Rowling intended. But its been a fun idea to investigate! Thanks to everyone who read my essay :D
No way. The only use for this theory is that we can always find motives to mistrust people even when they are highly trustful. I think J. K. Used him as a key for Harry's victory and Harry's life because she wanted to show power coming from humble ones. Power which comes from moral values is much stronger than that which comes from abilities.
ive always looked at Hagrids character as quite bigotted and unliking of muggles in general, which i am surprised is not mentioned, By every account of his spoken word he doesnt seem to like them one bit and i felt moreso tollerated them. And I am really intreaged now that it was Hagrid whom required Voldies wand at Godricks Hollow, Also arriving first before Sirius even though the fedelius charm had been cast.
I’m not buying this one. It’s not even clear to me that Hagrid realized Voldy was his old classmate Riddle. There was a big time gap before Voldy made his appearance in the world.
There is a saying that kept creeping up in my mind while watching this and that is: “Never attribute malice to what you can explain away as incompetence.”
This would have been an incredible twist, essentially being a foil to snape. The friendliest, most wholesome character who was more consistent than the other wholesome character for harry, dumbledore, wrestles with his beliefs and wants as he carries out Voldemort's grander plan, showing that even good people can fall to evil if given the right motivations/manipulations. He would have been working for voldemort for decades, and felt that, despite how much he genuinely loved harry, he had done too much by this point to stop. His loyalty is obvious, maybe his first ever friend was voldemort, and he couldnt help but be loyal to one of the few to believe in him. He could have become disillusioned with Dumbledore, seeing how he was raising harry as a pig for slaughter, and sort of had an anakin moment - realising even the good guys werent the pinnacle of goodness as once thought. Ultimately its probably for the best that this is just a cope for rowling plot holes, but still, it could have been a very interesting part of HP.
"Yes, Hagrid and Tom met at Hogwarts, where they became great friends, although Tom was a narcissist who manipulated Hagrid to serve him for his own benefit. When they met and spoke in secrecy at Hogwarts, they formed a close bond. Their common impure backgrounds led them down the rabbit hole of explaining their hatred for anything but pure wizards and witches. It makes sense as Hagrid would suffer all his life due to having a giant-race mother; it was obvious he would be looked at, mocked, and generally made to live as an outcast. Tom, an orphan because his mother fell in love with a man who didn't love her, also experienced difficulties. All the other details mentioned in the video also make sense. Hagrid was Lord Voldemort's most trusted ally; no one but them knew anything about it. Tom would convince Hagrid that he should take the fall for the Chamber of Secrets because he (Tom) was more talented of the two. Then, he promised to teach Hagrid to be a great wizard. Tom kept his promise, creating an unbreakable bond between them that would never be broken."
Big hole with the “its dark that hagrid used transfiguration magic on harry’s childhood bully.” That wouldnt imply that he doesnt like muggles. That would imply that he doesnt like bullies, and not only that, but the entire wizarding world have joke shops and magical items that could either transfigure or cause some kind of non lethal harm. Would fred and george be considered haters of wizards for giving people candy and items that harmed or caused fear into them? No. They’re considered jokesters. I find it dark that harry was treated like vermin by his family morever than hagrid playing a little and giving dudley a pigs tail. It was fitting. This fan theory is spotty at best
For the fideleus charm, I always just figured if you used a location people knew, the charm would keep it from being in your head until it broke in which case it would pop back in your mind.
I think that Hagrid got to the Potters’ house so quick, because he was assigned to watch it. He wouldn’t have to know where it was to be stationed as a guard the way Dung was at Harry’s place.
This does bring up an interesting question though. How can Pettigrew be simultaneously the secret keeper , and unknown that he was alive? Can secret keepers just give up the secret?
I remember having my suspicions about Hagrid back when Chamber of Secrets came out. Its especially noticeable in the movie. When Harry leaves Borgin and Burkes and he bumps into Hagrid, Hagrid seems pretty shifty about his reasons for being in Knockturn Alley. Thankfully it all ended up being fine. I'm not sure I'd have recovered from that level of treachery.
'There was a fresh outbreak of laughter, and after a few moment Harry felt the ground trembling beneath him. “You carry him,” Voldemort said, “He will be nice and visible in your arms, will he not? Pick up your little friend, Hagrid. And the glasses-put on the glasses-he must be recognizable-” Someone slammed Harry’s glasses onto his face with deliberate force, but the enormous hands that lifted him into the air were exceedingly gentle. Harry could feel Hagrid’s arms trembling with the force of his heaving sobs; great tears splashed down upon him as Hagrid cradled Harry in his arms.' This by far the most far fetched and ridiculous fan theory out there. Interesting but not plausible at all. Hagrid has been shown throughout the series to show his disdain for Voldemort and anyone who associates with them and his loyalty to Dumbledore shows it. Dumbledore was the only one who actively stood up for him and believed him when he had been accused of opening the chamber of secrets which for a thirteen year old half giant who was probably well aware of how different he was compared to the other students and might have been subjected to bullying having someone on his side that not only stood up for him but ensure that he would be taken care of by means of convincing Armando Dippett to allow Hagrid to stay and train as the Hogwarts Grounds Keeper, ensuring that while he may not have been able to progress in the way his peer group had been he would still be able to have a profession within the wizarding world. I'll add that in my personal belief I don't think anyone truly believed Hagrid was guilty however due to affinity for large and dangerous beasts and being in possession of an acromantula it was more convenient to let Hagrid take the blame and close the investigation quickly, anyone who would have examined Myrtle Warren's body would have seen that she had not be killed by Aragog, as acromantula bites leave a mark.
Hagrid was only going to get Harry out in by the time Sirius got there probably wouldn't have been able to get the one too. Wormtail could have stolen the wand through digging through there as a rat. Then just put in a safe hiding spot until he was able to find the dark Lord and then get it.
Plot holes. Some of the "questionable" things brought up are from the first book. She was still figuring out her direction, stories and backgrounds evolve, details still being fleshed out, etc. It's as simple as that.
I think this may very well be a Snape situation with Hagrid furious people the Potters died, so going to work for Dumbledore BUT PRETENDING TO STILL BE LOYAL TO VOLDY. i'd like to think behind the scenes Snape and Hagrid were talking, and Hagrid had to keep Snape on path for the plan to work...
One small issue with Hagrid giving Wormtail Voldemort's wand while the were setting up the third task, Voldemort used it in his exile when he killed Bertha Jorkins and the muggle caretaker before Harry's fourth year. Most of the points can be dismissed as Hagrid had help and Hagrid, despite being lovable, being a bit of an idiot. Hagrid, in Voldemort and many Death Eaters eyes, had nothing of value, he was expelled in his third year, had poor common sense when it came to beasts, Norbert and the Blast-Ended Skrewts. Hagrid was also, almost fanatically, loyal to Dumbledore. The only reason he gave Dudley a pigs tail, at least in the books, was because Vernon kept insulting Dumbledore. As for the reason why Voldemort didn't kill Hagrid during the Battle of Hogwarts, he was gloating, he knew Hagrid at school, he knew about Aragog and that he'd taken over Aragog's former nest. Hagrid was also half-giant, for all we know, the killing curse might not effect giants or Voldemort was just torturing Hagrid. Hagrid was hit by stray spells in the Battle of the Seven Potters, there's even a moment when Hagrid takes Harry out of the sidecar and puts himself between Harry and the Death Eaters.
I don’t think she hated. Her she was just jealous and had to much pride and she was mad that she never got to be apart of the magic World So she pretty much just harder her heart and let her pride takeover
Hagrid flying to the island. He must have flown some ways other than on his own. Because if you remember, he took Harry with him when he left the island. They never showed/explained this. Again while not explained. While true Hagrid was forbidden from preforming magic. He had learned a bit while at school. And Dumbledore totally trusted him. Also Dumbledore was capable of many things while at hogwarts that other weren’t. One of which was aperating. It’s not hard to think that he was able to further educate Hagrid in a great many things without the ministry ever knowing about it. As to getting Harry off the island. Serious loaned Hagrid his bike, you know the one with the side car that Hagrid used to deliver Harry to Professor Magonagle and headmaster Dumbledore at 4 Private Drive. Which was also used when the Seven Harry’s event happened. Yah. He used the magicified muggle thing. Probably buried information and the ministry of magic thanks to Mr Whesly. Broken wand. Harry repaired his broken wand with the Elder Wand. Who else was master of the Elder wand who also trusted Hagred with his life. Who may have repaired Hagrids wand. The four kids being in the dark forest was punishment from Magonigal for the four of them being out after hour. Not something Hagrid pulled out of his backside. WOW! This theory reaches farther than the moon on why and how Hagrid was a death eater than about anything ridiculous I’ve seen. But continue. Voldemort wand. What marauder who helped resurrect Voldemort, to physical form who almost definitely was using Voldemort wand to accomplish this act, could have possibly picked up Voldemort wand at the time Voldemort tried to kill Harry Potter on that faithful night. And succeeded in killing Harry’s mother, Lily Potter at that time. Just because Pedigru never used Voldemort wand in that time, doesn’t mean he didn’t know where it was. I’m not saying I’m correct here, at the same time this bogus theory is REALLY reaching to call Hagrid a traitor. And with that. The mental gymnastics that went in to this whole exercise was comical. I loved the whole HP thing until some elements were brought out after the movies were over, and many of the actors turned out to be less than desirable examples of human beings. But as the story goes. This theory does nothing but trash an honorable character in the story.
I'm pretty sure the reason Hagrid was tied up instead of killed was because of his giant blood. He was resistant or outright immune to most magic, so they likely would have needed to put in physical effort to kill him.
I am sorry but the author of this theory pulled several muscles with how far they had to stretch to have this make any sense. Nothing on the video creator but this theory is really a stretch.
Ut falls apart because Hagrid always denied opening the chamber. He just visited James and Lilly the week before they died. Also no one ever saw hagrids snapped wand.
I guess for the first one, it depends how far the Fidelius charm extends. To use a muggle example, if the building under the charm is the Empire State Building, I cannot tell you that, but can I tell you its in Manhattan? New York? East Coast? USA? Earth? Dumbledore could have told him to get in the vicinity of Godrics Hollow, when he realised something bad was about to go down.
No, I think the majority of the theory is due to plot holes. We've seen him travel many times but none have been on the Hogwarts Express. This includes not only his trip to get Harry on the island but also the two of them getting to Diagon Alley for Harry's stuff AND during Harry's 2nd year when he meets Harry in Knockturn Alley. I'm more inclined to think that Rowling just didn't mention how Hagrid got around. As for the Fidelias Charm, despite Hagrid traveling by an unknown means, once the Potters were dead, the charm was lifted, allowing any wizard or witch to see the house. Rowling points this out in Deathly Hallows when Harry and Hermione visit.
One of the counter arguments, I come to think of right away, is that the Dark lord, Voldemort, as well as I know, does not think much of giants or half giants like Hagrid. He thinks of them as less intelligent beings. The giants Voldemort tries to win over, during, is it Order of the Phoenix, it must be, I think it's just to gain numbers for the upcoming war. The more, the better. And giants are strong, physically. Who will be gainkeeper, at hogwarts, after Hagrid if he is killed? ""There's no Hogwarts without you, Hagrid"
one big reason Hagrid could not been i Voldemorts ranks is , he loves animals, and he was not important to voldemort because he was emotionel and easy to tears. So he was not important only the one time he was used as scapegoat, and the forgotten. And Dumbledor loves broken children, therefor Hagrid, just as he loved Harry
I wonder why Hagrid did not catch up on the remaining years of magical learning he lost after he was proven innocent of opening the Chamber of Secrets 3 days after Harry and Ron returned to Dumbledore's office with Ginny Weasley and an Obliviated Gilderoy Lockhart? Was he not vindicated for both accounts of the Secret chamber monster attacks? If so then why wasn't he off the hook for the first account as well as he was for the second account after the Lockhart mishap? I mean Hagrid was not the only third year to accomplish magic well out side the basics of his respective year; The Marauders used advanced magic beyond their years when 'they' were 13 years old, and so did Harry Potter and lets not forget that Hermione Granger was the youngest witch at age 12 1/2 to brew what was meant to be a Sixth/seventh year N.E.W.T.S. potion and she was only in her second year when she did it. So why should Hagrid be that much different for an accomplished 3rd year. Considering all this evidence I lay out means that this "Hagrid the Death Eater informant" theory is just a great big "Leaky Cauldron". It could be that Dumbledore might have secretly tutored Hagrid whenever he could, it would be of no surprise if Newt Scamander dropped in to visit Hagrid and helped with the tutoring in 4th year magic at some sort of opportune times. It was Dumbledore's decision for the first year detention to be in the location of the Forbidden forest, not Hagrid. Hagrid is not notable to have a bias against muggles, he just doesn't like disagreeable slighters, such as the Dursleys and the Malfoys, because they are both overly entitled about their opposing blood status and their position in their respective societies that happen to be within the same continental space or has anyone forgotten how rude Vernon Dursley was towards Hagrid. Hagrid was not in charge of the maze and he had no affiliation with Wormtail, as he was the game Keeper when the Marauders attended at Hogwarts and didn't have as much time to spend hanging out with old friends especially since he was made a Care of Magical creatures professor prior to the events of Harry's second year; Wormtail found Voldemort's wand some time after Ron's 3rd year, Hagrid's only part in the Maze setup was stationing magical creatures at each check point area of the maze. Barty Jr. helped Professor Sprout grow the Maze, and it was Barty Jr. who tampered with the Triwizard Cup and was the only one who knows where he placed it (as Stated by Dumbledore himself). This theory is getting more and more ridiculous as I am listening to this; it was well established in the books that most spells bounce off Hagrid because he is a Half Giant and Giant blood in the Wonderous World of Magic universe is immune or highly resistant to most magical attacks. Nothing about Hagrid actually proves Death Eater status at all.🙄😵💫🤨😖😣😔😮💨🧐😶🌫
I always thought it was implied Dumbledore sent Hagrid to the Potter’s house after Snap confesses the plan and the Prophecy to Dumbledore. That’s where he met Black etc. So maybe he had help or maybe it took a normal amount of time and that’s why he was late.
"Few people know Voldemort's name was Tom" . Hagrid was in school with him while everyone called him "Tom". He knew Tom Riddle became Voldemort thanks to Dumbledore. Silly bit of "evidence"
Interesting theory, although there is one simple fact that completely debunks it. When Hagrid first brought Harry to the Dursleys that night his parents were killed. They were alone during that trip BEFORE reaching 4 Privet Drive in Little Whinging and Harry was a vulnerable and unprotected baby at the time, with no one else around. He could have easily killed him by non-magical means (stabbed, drowned, shot, poisoned etc.) and vanished without a trace if he were that skilled in the magical arts. His task as a death eater in serving Voldemort would have been quick and clean.
While this theory isn't as ludicrous as I thought it would be, it does draw some iffy conclusions and the first thing that came to mind was how puzzles made with same saw pattern will have pieces that fit perfectly together when used interchangeably but don't create the right image. That's how I feel about this theory. It also creates great questions than the ones it tried to answer. A lot of "evidence" can be explained in different ways and a lot of it also ignores something important we seem to forget about Hagrid. He is impulsive, negligent and doesn't think everything through. But I do have a theory of my own about Hagrid (which has been debunked by Pottermore, but if you allow me to be so arrogant, I think it is a mistake and that Rowling was actually backpedaling here). I think, when the first books were written, Hagrid's Hogwarts was Slytherin! Hear me out. While Hagrid's character surely would fit a Gryffindor student, he could be just as well suited as a Slytherin and we have evidence to back this up. From what we gather from Hagrid, he, at one point, seemed to be a very ambitious young wizard with a particular focus on fantastic beasts. Despite his young age, he was already ambitious enough in this regard to try and take care of an Acromantula at the age of 13 years old, a creature that is classified as untameable by the ministry and we can be certain if he was allowed to graduate from Hogwarts that he would have left Great-Brittain to become a Dragon Breeder. And if rules had to be bended for his ambitions, he would. The fact that he hid an Acromantula for a few months in the castle, with the professors looking for the creature that attacked students, also shows a certain cunning. Secondly, Hagrid has some very segregational views when it comes to Muggles and Wizards. You could even say that his vision on the matter came incredibly close as to the original idea of Salazar Slytherin himself! Hagrid didn't hate muggles (he only hated the Dursleys for their evil treatment of Harry) but he did believe it was better if the two worlds were kept separate. And as is often the case, these type of ideas soften with age so he was likely even more pro-segregation in his youth. But the most damning hint that Hagrid was meant to be Slytherin student in the original plan, before Rowling changed her mind on the matter, is that he and Tom Riddle are on a first name basis. Through out the novels we rarely see this between people of different Houses, especially when there is an age difference between them and in particular between Slytherin and Gryffindor students. But the way Hagrid and Riddle talked to each other, it sounded amical, as if they knew each other pretty good and were friends. And I believe that Hagrid indeed believed them to be friends until Riddle showed his true colors, used Rubeus as his fall guy and ruined the younger Slytherin's life just to save his own skin. And that's another thing, according to myth only the heir of Slytherin could free his monster. How could Hagrid be mistaken for that heir if he wasn't a Slytherin student to begin with? Sure, it is believable that they believed no ill will from him, that he just wanted to aid the "poor creature" his ancestor had hidden in the castle out of the misguided idea that he would be able to control it. But in a way, this betrayal by Riddle, did save Hagrid from a dark path. Seeing the boy betrayed by a friend and truly believing in the innocence of Hagrid, Dumbledore took him under his wing, believing he could be redeemed. Maybe Dumbledore even recognized himself in the young Slytherin, a misguided young man on the wrong path that needed a father figure who would put him straight. So Dumbledore kept the boy close, prevented him from being dumped back into a magical world where he had no family or chances now and taught him privately everything he needed to become a better person first and foremost but also to be shaped into a great asset from Dumbledore. This lessened Hagrid's dark side and created a lifelong loyality from the half-giant towards his mentor. As others have suggested (and Harry has proven as viable), Dumbledore could have repaired Hagrids wand and placed them into the umbrella, taught him more magic in secret and eventually made him the Groundskeeper, so he could use Hagrid for special missions. Which in the last days of the First Wizarding War was probably to be "on-call" if anything happened to James and Lily. I believe that Dumbledore had spells in place in Godric Hollow that if anything happened there, he and Hagrid would be informed. Hagrid afterall was one of the people Dumbledore did in fact fully trusted and while not the best duelist, his innate magical abilities as a half-giant did give him more resilience than others (we can't forget that they tried to stun him and failed). But if anything happened, he would be dispatched as the first boots on the ground, probably with a one-way portkey and was to contact Dumbledore directly when there was trouble. If all was well, Hagrid wouldn't see nothing to report so Dumbledore could just pick him up. He didn't have to see the house of Lily and James to know it was there and by not seeing it, he would know all was fine. But when he arrived as the first one and saw a house magically destroyed (the muggles might have thought it was a gas explosion or something, but Hagrid would know it was something different), he immediately knew he had to spring into action. Later events in the books can also be explained as Hagrid being easily manipulated OR working under orders of Dumbledore. Both giving Harry the flute as taking him to the Forest are probably ideas of Dumbledore, the first to give Harry a tool that might give him a fighting chance if he did decide to try to bypass Fluffy and the Forest job was a test to see what Harry was made of. The "follow the spiders" instruction was another way of Hagrid trying to help Harry, geniunely believing that Aragog would help Harry as well as tell Harry something Hagrid couldn't bring himself to do out of his shame (we know he didn't want anyone talking about his explusion). And everything after that sounds either like Hagrids typical enthoustiastic and careless nature. Why would he question Moody's suggestion to show Harry the Dragons, the idea of Dragons on Hogwarts probably already brought Hagrid in such good mood, he wouldn't think ill about it and we know that he doesn't have an issue with being partisan towards Harry. And at the end, with Voldemort not killing him, Hagrid was captured by the Acromantulas, dragged by him into the forest, yet managed to survive it. This might have impressed Voldemort, if ever so slightly and it might have him the idea that he could still find use for someone like Hagrid. It might even be nostalgic for him to use Hagrid again for something. As for the Voldemort's wand question. It is highly likely that an animagus can carry a wand in their animal form. We know that when an animagus transforms into their animal form or back, they do it clothed and are clothed when they become human. So if their wand is in their pocket, it will be still there when they turned human. What am I getting at? Pettigrew had Voldemorts wand on him for the last 13 years when he was a rat. It was in his pockets and neither Black or Lupin bothered to search him. Pettigrew couldn't use it either, he wouldn't have been quick enough and it would immediately incriminate him if he tried but he probably had in on his person this whole time!
12:57 Gollum: “HE TOOK IT! Nasty fat giantses! We seen him! Always stuffing his face when master’s not looking. Oh, yes my love. Wishes master deads he does. But, not poor Sméagol. Sméagol wouldn’t hurt a fly!”.
See, the issue I have with Hagrid is in his 3rd year when Tom blamed him for killing Moaning Myrtle. WHY DID THEY KNOW EACHOTHER?? Hagrid speaks to Tom as though they have spoken before, also Tom (a 5th year, blood supremacist, Slytherin prefect) knew Hagrid by name. Also Hagrid was hiding Aragog in the dungeons of hogwarts. How in the hell did a half-giant sneak through the castle to the dungeons at night without getting caught by the prefects, unless he was in Slytherin and was already in the dungeons to begin with. Hagrid had to have been in Slytherin for Tom to know him and to be able to go to his nightly feedings of Aragog

It seems more likely Dumbledore was behind this stuff rather than Voldemort. Dumbledore could teach him magic, fix his wand, assign Hagrid to keep an eye on Harry, etc...
agreed
Maybe Dumbledore secretly taught Hagrid to apparate so that he could do certain errands without getting in trouble.
Considering that the dursleys had pretty much offended him by insulting Dumbledore I don't think he had any remorse doing the pig's tail. Also that is probably a writer's way of making it more shocking by not uttering a spell out loud. And before JK Rowling figured out what kind of spells system there was for her series.
Or he was really trying to turn Dudley into a pig 100%, and only the tail part ended up working.
@@thareelhelloagain Hagrid admit it didn't work, we don't know how good of a student he was but I'm guessing probably about average when it comes to magic.
Also the pig tail probably didn’t seem like a big deal to Hagrid. He spent his whole life with magic and it would be a quick fix for a wizard.
He could have repaired his wand too. Harry used the Elder Wand to fix his so we know it's capable of it.

Or maybe his giants blood was what they needed to help convince the giants to join their cause in the first place...
I noticed that no one really tries to kill Hagrid with the killing curse. I would think that would be the way to go.
No
Hes resistant to stuns and stuff, but I think a killing curse would just you know, kill him.
Hagrid wasn't a death eater, but he did have some character flaws that were quite dangerous.
yes absolutely! especially when he became a teacher 😂 but i think he was more comedically ignorant than dangerous, he could handle a lot more than the average human. Therefore he wasnt totally confident in what would be dangerous to the students and what wouldnt.
@@maizym7549 Shouldn't have said that !

I like to think Dumbledore concealed Hagrid’s whole wand in the umbrella.
Yeah pretty obviously it's concealed in the umbrella
Or Snape took the wand. It shows snape cradling dead Lily while baby harry cries in the background, which means he was there before Hagrid
That's just a movie thing. The movies aren't exactly canon...
@@satazs6195 right on. I did not know that lol.
And people have the audacity to claim him being a Death Eater as a legit theory?
yep, fan theories are most often pretty dumb 😂

I can absolutely see Hagrid sort of getting roped into the Death Eaters without really knowing what he's getting involved in, learning of what Voldemort plans to do and his methods, being horrified, and leaving, never to speak of it again.
Then you know nothing about the character. Hagrid may not have been the brightest but he wasn't an idiot.
Tom Riddle even admitted that Hagrid was a stupid oath and that he was pretty much using him at that point for both the egg as well as the chamber.
Don't forget that Hagrid actually meant to turn Dudley into a pig
That's evil how ?
He's only looking out for Harry. The stuff his family put him through.
@@isaacwall4951 that’s how I saw it. That’s ain’t evil it’s revenge for all the hell dudley put Harry thru haha
Harry*🤦
I don’t know if you’re misspelling the names on purpose and other words but it makes your statement hard to read.
Agreed. I felt like I had a stroke reading that message. @@SirLeDoux
No, I don't think Hagrid was a death eater, but it would have been a great plot line.
That was a lot more than I had given thought too, but very compelling when laid out like that.
This theory falls apart when due to the part where Draco and Lucious Malfoy try to get Hagrid fired after Buckbeak attacks Draco.
This the kind of theory thats dangerously close to being true, and I love it
Next Theory: Harry is secretly Dumbledore and the son of Hermione and Ginny who is actually a guy
Ginny kinda looks like a guy
I thought Dumbledore and some faculty Taught Hagrid secretly
Obviously, Hagrid was the most trusted member of the order.
In the book, Harry never breaks the Elder Wand. It is returned to Dumbledore's grave after Harry fixes his own wand.
Snape arriving first is BULLSHIT. It is only in the MOVIES and the MOVIES ARE NOT CANON.
Here are some of my humble thoughts on the topic:
First to keep in mind, the series was meant for kids, especially the first couple books.
Makes a lot of sense in some parts, specially the ones about how he got to the potter's house after Voldemort vanished.
The fidelius charm breaking always come fused me. Preter didn't die so is one of the stipulations of the charm is no large holes in your home?
One scene that jumps out to me is when Harry uses the Floo powder the first time. Who happened to be in Diagon Alley at that moment? Hagrid!
No way. The only use for this theory is that we can always find motives to mistrust people even when they are highly trustful.
I think J. K. Used him as a key for Harry's victory and Harry's life because she wanted to show power coming from humble ones. Power which comes from moral values is much stronger than that which comes from abilities.
Not to mention that Hagrid send Harry straight into an acromantula nest
ive always looked at Hagrids character as quite bigotted and unliking of muggles in general, which i am surprised is not mentioned, By every account of his spoken word he doesnt seem to like them one bit and i felt moreso tollerated them.
There is a saying that kept creeping up in my mind while watching this and that is:
“Never attribute malice to what you can explain away as incompetence.”
Personally… I LOVE THIS THEORY! This was really really good!
They knew Pettigrew was alive up until he disappeared after encountering Sirius.
Plus, the Secret Keeper is the only one able to give up the secret.
The charm broke when the targeted people died.
And the glasses-put on the glasses-he must be recognizable-”
Someone slammed Harry’s glasses onto his face with deliberate force, but the enormous hands that lifted him into the air were exceedingly gentle. Harry could feel Hagrid’s arms trembling with the force of his heaving sobs; great tears splashed down upon him as Hagrid cradled Harry in his arms.'
This by far the most far fetched and ridiculous fan theory out there.
I can see Hagrid being a Slytherin, but not a DE.
Bro. We're watching a hahrid is a deatheater video. You don't need to explain who Dumbledore is.
As of the moment of opening the video i start by saying how dare you Hagrid is the gentle giant the loyal companion. The pure of heart... how dare you
One small issue with Hagrid giving Wormtail Voldemort's wand while the were setting up the third task, Voldemort used it in his exile when he killed Bertha Jorkins and the muggle caretaker before Harry's fourth year.
It is like saying Petunia was a death eater. She hated her sister and so on ... GPT can generate more stuff, no worries
I clicked on this video for a laugh, but it's scary how much sense this made.
That was much more plausible than I thought it would be.
Nothing about Hagrid actually proves Death Eater status at all.🙄😵💫🤨😖😣😔😮💨🧐😶🌫
Except you forget that Snape was the first to arrive on scene, he notified DD and that’s how Hagrid got there so fast.
I always thought it was implied Dumbledore sent Hagrid to the Potter’s house after Snap confesses the plan and the Prophecy to Dumbledore. That’s where he met Black etc. So maybe he had help or maybe it took a normal amount of time and that’s why he was late.
A Death Eater? No
No grasp on dangerous creatures and a loose tongue? Yes
