    My hypothesis for what happened to Lily's parents was that they died in a car accident. Either the Death Eaters used magic to cause it to happen, or it was a unrelated tragedy. Either way, it still counts as a very "muggle" way to die. And I presume Petunia could have worked it into her lie about how James and Lily lost their lives, such as telling Harry that parents were in the car with his grandparents when it happened.

      Oh crap and that would be the brilliant reason why petunia and Vernon said that James and Lily died in a car crash they already had the story planned out flawlessly through the death of their own parents 😳 not going to lie this seems pretty good I lost my books a long time ago but this seems like a pretty solid theory

    I'm certain that if Dumbledore explained the necessity of keeping Harry with the Dursleys for his own protection, Sirius would have understood. In fact, it might have been better if Sirius was around because then he could be there to keep an eye on Harry and stop the Dursleys from abusing him. And having uncle Sirius checking up on little Harry from time to time and providing him with presents would have been good for his mental well being growing up. I think the reason Albus did not help Sirius is because he genuinely thought he was guilty. He had lost his mind and was in no capacity to explain himself, and even his memories would have looked like a scrambled egg and impossible even for a legiliman like Albus to decipher. This may have been the reason he did not stand trial because he was in no condition to do so. This and the fact that his last name was Black and most of his family were on Voldemort's side really didn't help his case.

      I agree. I don’t think Dumbledore would do something so cruel as to torture an innocent man just to keep his plan in place. And I can also believe he didn’t take the effort to look into it further because Sirius never fought back against his sentence, as he’d stated, due to his guilt. If Sirius genuinely expressed that they had the wrong man, I very well imagine Dumbledore would’ve had a little chat with him.

      Sirius is not a man of reason and no he wpuld not have allowed harry to be abused like he was. He also would have nwver raised harry as somwone devoid of self worth so he would gladly walk to hia own death to safe the only home he ever had.....

    My big thing with the love potion theory is that it is clear she didn't give him one but that it did affect harry in a way that pushed him towards the relationship. In the books during slughorns first lesson they cover a love potion that smells like things you are attracted to. Harry smells something familiar but can't place it. Since he wasn't outright attracted to ginny quite yet my best guess was that it was the smell of the burrow. Later on though ginny walked past him and he noticed the smell off of her. From that point on he essentially decided that it meant he loved her. Although he had been slowly starting to notice her more and more, it was that connection mase from the smell that really pushed it forward. So to me, he was affected by a love potion but not from drinking it.

    • @lynmurray4331
      @lynmurray4331 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@lynmurray4331 I am not saying she gave it to him it was moreso association to the smell. I am not saying that it wouldn't have happened otherwise but it was a definite nudge. Here is my dark theory, and it's about something I never see anyone bring up. But, I think Sirius wasn't the only one imprisoned in Azkaban for a crime they didn't commit. Sirius tells Harry in GOF that he wasn't the only one sent to Azkaban without a trial, he also tells Harry that most people there gave up and died after a year. Barty Crouch Sr had become worthless when fighting against Death Eaters in the first war, he stopped giving most people trials and started having people (like he did with Sirius) taken straight to Azkaban, he even allowed Aurors to use the Unforgivable Curses (something Sirius also says in GOF).
    So, I believe there is a chance Azkaban had more innocent people than Sirius locked up in there, and I don't mean any of the Death Eaters that broke out in OOTP were innocent when locked up, I mean ones that didn't break out and were left in there because Voldemort or whoever broke the Death Eaters out aren't going to bother with prisoners who aren't Voldemort’s followers, or maybe some of the ones that's just gave up were innocent people.

    As to the love potion theroys. I don't think any of them hold up. When Harry first becomes interested in Jenny, he doesn't act on it at first because of his concern with how Ron would react. Ron was 100% focused on winning the quidech game and only went to kiss whatshername when she approached him. However, when we see Ron fall under a love potion meant for Harry, he becomes totally obsessed with this girl he never meets and even attacks Harry, his best friend, when he suggests he's being foolish.

    My version of the Dumbledore leaving Black in prison is that he wanted to have more control over Potter's upbringing in order to "optimize" him for fighting Riddle. I've had a dark theory about Dumbledore since the beginning..... here's the short/long of it:
    Dumbledore knew how horrid the Dursleys are, which is why he placed Harry there.
    You see, Dumbledore knew that if Harry was raised in the wizarding world (even by the Weasley's) that Harry had the potential to grow a bit of an ego, from being popular & wealthy...... an ego that could match Voldemort's.
    Dumbledore knew that if Harry was raised in a way that made him never view the Dursley's home as "his home" then Harry would unequivocally fight for Hogwarts & the wizarding world.
    I believe if Harry was raised in the wizarding world that he would have ended up accepting a Slytherin placement, instead of running from it....... Draco became the new Dudley, so of course Harry would want no part of him, including the Hogwarts House he was placed into..... Harry would have definitely met Draco if he was raised in the wizarding world, so it probably would not have been enough of a deterrent to deny Slytherin.
    TL;DR -- Dumbledore specifically placed Harry in a home that would mentally abuse him his entire life, in order for Harry to become the exact opposite of Voldemort (which would ultimately become the key to end Voldemort).

    • @Reckoning2943

      I agree with Dumbledore’s need to keep Harry alive but I don’t agree with the mental abuse. It is even stated in the books that Dumbledore chose to leave him there as best option because of his aunt. The blood wards, or the magic that Lily used to protect Harry would continue as long he lived with a blood relative.
      With death eaters and the exact whereabouts of Voldemort unknown, it was Dumbledore’s best option to shelter him from the wizarding world so that word would about Harry’s whereabouts would not get around. It was a kill two birds with one stone situation.
      Also, it doesn’t make much sense to say he did it for mental “abuse”. Prior to Harry’s arrival, there were no signs of them being anywhere near hateful or abusive, they were just incredibly bland, unpleasant people who loved their son Dudley. There were no indications of their later mistreatment. It can be presumed that Dumbledore knew that they weren’t the greatest people but he was mostly unaware of the extend of their abuse, as seen in their way of contacting Harry about his enrollment in Hogwarts. The man, in his ignorance, had most likely no idea.

    The “imagination” theory for Harry doesn’t pan out. If his parents died in a car crash he would have been with them. Not many parents leave a baby that age with people. Especially knowing that the grand parents were dead so there really would be no one to leave him with as we know the Dursleys don’t want him. I have two kids and with our first child my wife didn’t want her sleeping at someone else’s house or staying there like at all in my daughter’s first year. It seems like someone just wants to make a psychological reason for a fictional story. When 9/10 times psychological issues are blown way out of proportion and blamed for things happening, instead of just enjoying a fake story.

    In my opinion, as theory, Dumbledore was the true antagonist of the franchise, because if you analyzes, he was involved in many shady aspects, starting with the creation of the Dark lords, Grindelwald and Voldemort.
    - Grindelwald. Because he encouraged the ambitions of his old pal, leading to that Grindelwald started his plans for his Revolutions.
    - Voldemort. Dumbledore was aware from the darkness within Tom, yet, he was passive to gives him support and avoid that Tom was walking in the dark path, leading him to become lord Voldemort.
    Without count that Dumbledore was manipulating and controlling the life of Harry since the beginning, starting to forces him to lives with the Dursleys, a very abusive family and bigots toward the magic, only for the blood wards, despite to has a cruel childhood. Adding that Dumbledore was always keeping secrets from Harry, leading him to get exposed to dangers in Hogwarts, only to accomplishes his personal plans, even if this ended implying put in jeopardize others, and that occured casualties, like Cedric Diggory and Sirius Black.
    And even if his strategy allowed stop Voldemort in the end, Dumbledore isn't a good man either, as he clearly applies the logic, "The end justifies the means", showing that he isn't a hero as the people and the story itself tried to portrays him, but he is simply a pragmatic man capable to consider morally questionable choices, only to acomplishes his objectives, even if this implies some consequences for innocent people, thus making him like a hidden antagonist in the franchise.

      the whole slughorn's memory arc basically confirms that dumbledore had very little clue about tom venturing into dark magic and/or dumbledore could've given him some leeway due to his troubled childhood. i'd imagine a pragmatic person like dumbledore would've kept eyes on young tom if he realised he was going off.

    I disagree on the love potion, the writers of the movies just didn´t know how to write any other female that wasn´t Hermione or they just simply didn´t want to, they loved their Mary Sue Hermione

    • @bobbyrayvictory6905
      @bobbyrayvictory6905 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      A Mary Sue is someone who hasn't earned their skill. I'm not sure that applies to even the film Hermione. If anything I feel like she was nerfed in the movies.
      If anything, she's a maguffin. She just always has the special spell or book that's needed just at the right moment

    • @retsaMinnavoiG
      @retsaMinnavoiG หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hermione was not a Mary Sue...
      I'm not sure if you understand what a Mary Sue is.
      It's a young female that's good at everything for no reason, masculine traits rather than feminine traits and has no real flaws or moments of weakness.
      Hermione has to sacrifice a lot to learn what she knows (for instance she is rundown and tired in the third movie because of the time turner) and we see her reading and studying constantly - she earns her knowledge.
      She changes immensely throughout the movies and starts as obnoxious and annoying but after being made fun of and ostracised she changes the way she acts and becomes self-aware that she needs to change.
      She never does much fighting and does need to be rescued or isn't strong enough at times.
      She mothers Harry and Ron and has many moments of weakness and 'traditional' female emotions.
      Her active roll is usually relegated to her knowledge that is well explained and took realistic effort from her part.
      There are a handful of moments in the movies where she does something that would usually be given to Harry or Ron but they also occasionally do something that would be given to Hermione.
      A Mary Sue is not any girl that can beat a boy.

It's fun to hear theories because it's a fictional world after all. I find it really hilarious that the Death Eaters who are so gung ho about purebloods are led by a guy who's a half blood. They sound hypocritical and stupid.

    4:11 I always thought they died in a car crash! They would have to know that Harry when grown up would research it! If he found Grandma and Grandpa died in a car crash, it's an easy lie to say, his parents were also in the car. They could even say that Harry was in the car. That would make for a convincing lie to add two additional people in an event that you knew about.

    nah its all to find an heir to the deathly hollows so death can regain his power. I suspected dumbledore was actually death, because of his hand you see when claiming to try to destroy a horecrux, but death needed a wizard to touch the shell to drink the water...and a set of circumstances vast. he was pretending to be dumbledore at a certain point. Potentially when he got the philosopher stone..another anti death device. But voldemort was able to escape death and death hated that as much as the philosopher stone. Just as much as the invisibility cloak afforded in the tail. So he give harry the cloak knowing it wont matter since he will age, then the stone to give him courage and help harry appreciate death by an illusion of an after life and then the wand to maintain a magical world, since harry wont abuse magic to escape death.... So death can finally capture tom riddle, who would have been the heir to anti death. Which means each house had a potential method... tom was trying to basically destroy death’s power over life. Where death would basically be the first dementor... but as tom riddle makes horcruxes. He loses himself piece by piece, like other immortals. Since death is too. Immortal... Where then death was able to manipulate the wizarding world and control it again. To feed, and prevent a cycle of power... voldemort was actually a hero but corrupted by his own naivety. Why else use the house’s most valued possessions.. Same with destroying the philosopher stone. All the movies have that repetition against longevity. Next time you watch harry potter. Imagine it being death instead of dumbledore after the philosopher stone is destroyed... pay attention to how the power hierarchy of magical form degrades. The only plothole being that the elderwand should have be a wand that cast every spell and when destroyed. All magic was gone too. N harry becomes a vagrant.

    The theory that the Wizarding World is a product of Harry's imagination is bolstered by Platform 9 and three quarters itself. Harry was born on July 31, 1980. James and Lily were killed October 31, 1981, exactly 15 months after Harry's birth. Harry learned he is a wizard on July 31, 1991, his 11th birthday. He had lived exactly 9 3/4 years with the Dursleys at that time.

    A theory: Lilly and James dated, got engaged, married and had a baby to spite Snape.
    They could have dated, got engaged, married and had a baby with anyone they knew but they dated, got engaged, married and had a baby with each other. Snape hated that.
    Lily had a falling out with Snape but still liked him. James and Snape never got along. Lilly might not have had feelings for James. James might have had feelings for Lily because Snape had feelings for Lilly. (To me there is no love between Lilly and James just spite for Snape and a mutual tolerance of each other.)

      Then where does that leave the explanation of why Harry is capable of love. Remember in Half Blood Prince, Dumbledore tells Harry that Riddle is not capable of love because there was no genuine love between his parents. Remember Merope gave Tom Jr love potions throughout their marriage and only stopped because she thought enough time had passed that he could love her for her.

    Dumbledore set up the whole thing. The Potters dying and all of it. When he met Tom he realized that to let Tom run loose would have been far worse. While there were things beyond his control he set things back on the path he wanted. He knew about scampers and all. He even sacrificed the Potters to end Tom. That's why he know Harry had to die and where all the horcrux were located. Dumbledore knew that Harry had to kill him or at least that someone with part of Tom's soul would. So he planned waiting for the one to come along to do it, even setting up Harry as a conduit with his parents dying in front of him.
