You two look fantastic working on your own home-there’s nothing like the care and attention that comes with doing it yourself. That water pipe setup out back? A true masterpiece! (Just kidding, of course.) On a serious note, you might need to consider investing in a water pump with a pressure tank from the hardware store. I’m not sure gravity alone will handle even a small demand for water in the house. All your hard work is really paying off-great job! You will need screens for the vents.
Thank you, and the pipe setup is behind the house, so as long as it works I don't care, hehe. As long as it works...we'll make it work! And yeah, a pump is definitely being considered. We have small screens on both sides of the vents, should stop everything except ants. Thank you for watching!
We usually do, depending if we're there/what needs to be done. It can get hot, absolutely, but as we're high in the mountains - it's a much nicer temperature than most places in the Philippines (not counting Baguio). We're talking 5-10° C cooler, with a cool breeze.
looking good, enjoy the rest of your building experience , you know enough now to fall into the ''experienced'' category ! HAHAAA... years from now you will look back on the past few months as valuable lessons in becoming jaded ! hahaaa.. seriously, enjoy fixing things now, you have learned and know what to watch out for and when to speak up. be the boss and enjoy it, smile at the things you see being done and just say "excuse me, could you please do it this way?" "i'd rather have mine done this way please, dont mean to be be bossy but i am just a picky person about some things"🤣 it will be a lot less stressful from here on, and once you are moved in you will feel more master of your domain😆 and most important- you know whats best- have confidence in yourself and enjoy your beautiful view and wife and better life !
Thank you very much, and I mean that. You have provided us with so much information and I truly appreciate it. Things may not be done the "correct" way, but it's a balance between my ignorance, the first crew's apathy, what's available in the province and so on. We'll chill in phase 1 for a while, fix the retaining wall and other projects. Then, when funds are available and I know exactly what I want/how I want it, we can start on the luxury rooms (as in: rooms we want, but don't need). Need to be able to weld again first too. Thank you again, I hope you stick around and see how the French drain turns out. Probably won't be up to your standards, hehe, but we'll make it work!
The plans for this house is very strange. We'll different I should say... however I noticed there's only one room. Where is the second room for the boys? They are included in this Right?
The neighbors' kids are absolutely not included (we have no children, although the cat will of course move in with us) ! 😃 Two rooms in phase 1: bedroom and bathroom. We plan to expand when we've felt the place out/fixed necessary things and have funds/plans ready.
@@jjcman2009 I don't think they are impressed, just curious and want to be around their relatives. Not too many things happen in the province, and we usually have their mom, dad and/or grandpa working on something. The kids are good, but still kids, yep! 😁
Depends on how you see it. About 25% of our wall area is a window, half of it can be opened. I think that's more than in most rooms. And one vent in bedroom, and two vents+window in CR. We'll see, I think the main heat source is the roof. If we paint it white, that should help. And if we have to, we'll open up another vent. But I'll probably use a fan. My wife is from Gensan, the Dust Bowl of the Philippines, I doubt she'll be affected.
@@lynhosmer8210 I don't want it too bright in the bedroom, and one wall is to cr, one to hallway. The remaining wall is to entrance, and I don't want a big window above the bed for neighbors to see either. 😆 But the sliding door means 3 m x 2.1 m window, including 1.5 m x 2.1 m that can open. Should be enough for a sub 25 sqm room, I think at least.
First: do NOT do it the way we got it done. Make sure to have a solid base with packed gravel (like 6") and then a minimum of 4" concrete (with proper mix) on top. Also have the prep work include drains on the sides/diverting water from going under the road. We got a package price for it. We paid 2500 pesos for every 3x4 m slab + materials. The entire road (160 m) was 300k iirc, everything included. It can be done for less, and much better quality. We will have to fix the road, and most likely (if my budget allows it) redo the whole thing, "some day". The road does work, and at the time we didn't have the money/knowledge to have it done correctly, but I am not happy with the results.
@ I’m just building a road into my farm using truckloads of gravel, but they come in varying sizes of rocks and they charge me about 14600 per load Not sure how long it is but it has taken 9 truck loads I did get cement tubes to go under it
Yeah, we're redoing most of what the first crew did. And as long as it works, I can fix it later. We just want to be able to move in right now...takes forever to build!
Glad to see the van at the house! Looking awesome.
Thank you very much!
We're getting there, mainly waiting on the electrician to wire up the place - after that we should be able to move in!
Great job guys.
Thank you!
Lots of projects left for sure, but once the electrician wires us up, I think it's livable.
Omg such a beautiful place……
We felt the same the first time we visited Bukidnon!

Like Vulkaseal, right?
You should open the roll up door while working in the house. It’ll help stay cooler.

@ABetterLifePH oh ok nice... For some reason I thought thoes boys was hers.

Yeah im assuming they're putting a windows or just a vent..it would be nice windows all around.😅
Hopefully roof fixed, and no more leaks

That sounds better. Especially since I'm assuming your slope won't be as steep as ours.
Too many 90 degree angles on water filtration. But easy fixes
