    Hi 2 you both, I've seen a couple of your videos now and am a new subscriber 😊.
    I get where you're coming from, it is sensational content, but also maybe if the video goes big and the perp knows it, he might do more of this for notoriety. I saw the video too with the landslide, that was crazy.. there's alot going on in your part of the Philippines mate! Take care. Roy

      Hi, welcome!
      I don't think the drunk guy would ever know. Very few people understand English here, and about as many has access to internet outside of TikTok and Facebook. But we're trying to show how our life is, and Loyloy's attack became a part of that...but it's not what our channel is about (quite the contrary, we're trying to find positives).
      It is an important topic though, in our opinion, and something foreigners should be aware of. Life is sometimes very cheap here, and it's smart to stay out of trouble. It's quite rare that trouble comes to find you, usually it's because of bad choices. Avoiding drunk people is always, regardless of country, a good idea.

    You are going to have to build boundaries, brother. That sort of thing won't change, stop or diminish. Believe me it only gets worse. I have very strict rules for myself whenever I am around drinking Pinoy. Never have I seen a Pinoy posture-up like a westerner. Moreover, suddenly someone has thrown a full beer bottle, point blank at some ones head or smashed one and cut someone horrifically. I wish you good luck with all of my heart.

      Sounds like England! But yeah, I always avoid drunk people, and last time I drank alcohol was like in my teens. Definitely not for me. Loyloy is doing well though, but so strange for me that the attacker wasn't punished. I mean, he will have to move a few hundred meters away, and his family paid like 100 USD all in all...even Sweden is tougher on attempted murder than that.

      @@ABetterLifePH The only way I have seen these sort of events handled was not by call the local police, but by the victim, of the victim's family, going immediately to the barangay Captain and reporting it. It seemed to work quite well as far as getting justice. Thankful that You were there to make sure your family member got medical care.

    • @ABetterLifePH

      @TitoJames68 Loyloy is not a family member, he's our neighbor. But in this case, it would have been better to go to the police. The captain was not helpful.

    It surprises me how little medical knowledge is available or understood in the provinces. Those wounds need coverings…they need closure and cleaning. That’s into fatty layers…infection even with antibiotics is highly likely in that environment. He needs to keep it clean! He could loose function in the finger, nerve damage…
    Sterile dressings with daily changes or when soiled. Those wounds are open and will continue to drain. If he does not want stitches…he needs them…he needs to try to bring the wounds together. The scarring is unavoidable.

    • @vannkopp286
      @vannkopp286 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      He will be fine, and his open wounds doesnt look infected. Would be equally dangerous to do primary closure in a tropical enviroment when it comes to infectious risk. More granulation and scarring now, but also easier to control a secondary infection.

      @@vannkopp286 If you go to the end of the video, first thing the doc did was put stitches in the shoulder wound and my bet is the finger got some too. I wasn’t far off…

    • @ABetterLifePH
      @ABetterLifePH  17 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes, there were reasons why I drove him to the hospital as soon as we found out.
      The side wound was the deepest, but I was more concerned about the finger.
      He wouldn't have stayed if they tried to stitch him up, they even made him sign a form for that (so the hospital wouldn't get in trouble).

    • @ABetterLifePH
      @ABetterLifePH  17 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      They (hospital) definitely wanted to stitch him up, but he refused. It looks good now though, as far as infection etc goes...obviously not the nicest looking scars.

    • @ABetterLifePH
      @ABetterLifePH  17 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      No stitches, they just cleaned it and wrapped it up. The shoulder wound just has a serrated look, probably why you thought he got stitches.
      Loyloy only agreed to go because he was starting to feel bad I think (as you said, no way to avoid an infection with an open wound in those circumstances).
      But he has healed up well. Ugly scars number 713-715 (my estimation), but finger, shoulder and side all have healed well and he's feeling good (he started doing light work, not for us, after two days because he was bored).

    Sorry to hear that bro ,I’m glad your ok . Just make shure you keep those wounds clean every day and put ointment,or Alo on it . Glad your ok because I’ve seen knives do real damage. So you watch out there

    • @ABetterLifePH
      @ABetterLifePH  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Loyloy would have died most likely if he hadn't protected his throat with his hand. Absolutely insane, but at least he's almost fully healed now. Three scars, one quite bad looking, but he is ok at least.

    we always have at least one guy walking around with stab wounds or busted open head or some major injury here. out of the 400 or so population of my village 399 can afford alcoholic beverages all week but cant afford a band aid... much less a tetanus shot.

    • @ABetterLifePH
      @ABetterLifePH  18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yeah, Loyloy and Aniz "luckily" had both tetanus shots and antibiotics left over from last time he got hurt (drunk driving+3 on bike+waving to cars)...
      The amount of scars the people (kids included) have in the province is insane. It looks like they play in broken glass all day. The kids are happy and healthy though, I'm pretty sure their childhoods are better than those of most in the West, scars or not.

      Unemployment in the Philippines is like 30%…in the provinces? 50%? Most of the men have no formal job… they plant on their plots for subsistence rather than sustainable income.

    A foreigner married to a Filipino cannot directly own land in the Philippines; however, they can effectively control property by having the title held in their Filipino spouse's name, meaning the property can be bought and registered under their spouse's name while the foreigner's name can appear on the contract as a co-owner, but not on the legal title. A foreigner can inherit land from a Filipino spouse through hereditary succession. While not owning the land, a foreigner can still be included in the purchase contract as a co-owner.

    • @ABetterLifePH
      @ABetterLifePH  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I'm on the paperwork, but it's even more complicated here as it's ancestral domain (no titles). It's VERY important to do things correctly in the Philippines, as even locals get scammed.
