With 50 fps on average not even the biggest Vignette will safe you from feeling sick :D that is not acceptable, not even in a beta. Stable 90fps or more are needed for most people. thanks for testing and putting your health at risk haha
Tried this is vr already using the unreal injector and it did help my driving but it clearly wasn’t native vr. Hopefully this’ll sort out that hole, or soon anyway (once out of beta). Looking forward to testing this
Definetly going to give it a try on EA Pass... need to take a break from Assetto Corsa. Thanks for covering this. Made me confident in wanting to try it. GG
First the graphics were horrible, but after setting up higher AA, anistropic filtering and activating DLSS it got quite better. Very annoying that I have to change the audio-source in Windows to my Quest 3 and need the motion-controllers for some menu-stuff despite the mouse works, but it's invisible.
Hey. Do you have any issues with brightness? I am also on Crystal and I have no issues with other games but WRC has an issue where most details are blown out. Way too bright. If I lower the brightness in the game everything turns super dark but some details are still kinda bright.
My quest3 is also tto bright at some points on different stages... Looks like the same problem they had initially with normal monitors! Its not a specific headset problem!
For me (Quest 3) it was very jittery when moving head until I tried Link with Cable. VD and Airlink had shaking objects when moving head a little. 2 days to figure out cable was the solution. But it's still not as smooth when comparing with Dirt Rally 2 on the same system, especially playing Dirt 2 after WRC. Both 90hz and according to Performance monitor stable 90fps.
the nr1 thing i missed when jumping into vr in wrc is that you dont get a cursos pointer... very stupid to be forced to use the keyboard to navigate the menus. other than that, yes the visuals are a bit blurry or jagged at the edges at times but all in all good fun tho, now i only need LMU to do the same and come out with VR and i'll be set.
Hi. How on earth did you get this going with Crystal? I’ve tried absolutely everything since 1.8 dropped and not once have I seen the option to use VR in-game. I’m using oepnXR with DCS, MSFS2020, AMS2 & Dirt Rally 2.0 with no problems at all so OpenComposite, PimaxXR etc is already setup and running. I’ve tried disabling openXR toolkit but nothing happens. If I leave the PimaxXR on the Pimax runtime, WRC on Steam will not even launch full-stop. If I change the runtime over to SteamVR then it’ll launch but ingame I ‘never’ get an option to use VR. I’ve tried with different runtimes in OpenComposite but nothing works. Is there something we’re all missing as there’s so many Crystal users like myself that just haven’t been able to get it going in VR.
Good question, I did nothing special - disabled OpenXR, switched the toggle in the OpenComposite tool, started SteamVR to then start WRC. Sometimes you have to try 2-3 times, its not perfect yet but works for me for the most part. F9 btw the hotkey for center VR view, hope that helps! -Michel
Did anyone ever figure out how to make this work? I’m having the same issue of not being able to get the enable VR prompt to show up, while trying to use my 8KX. Have tried Open XR, Pimax XR, Steam VR run times, and disabling Open XR. Nothing works sadly. 😢 Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers 🙏
Try lowering your AA setting. I noticed that even dropping the AA from like Epic to High gave me back a LOT of FPS. The game is essentially rendering for 2 screens (each eye) in VR which I am sure you know, so aliasing will be harder to notice anyway.
Small adjustment: if you only want to play in VR: wait until BETA badge is away, *then* buy and refund if it does not work as you expect. The BETA badge is there for a reason.
@@scanx6163 I agree that in this particular case chances are not good for Codemasters to be able to deliver a good VR experience, for engine issues, whatever - but, in general, one *should* give an manufacturer a chance to deliver a good product. Just lets hope that they either a) get that unreal engine to work properly or b) develop a customized engine again for their next games.
Can you link or provide steps to adding OpencCmposit? Is it the standard way , or is there a specific openvr_api .dll ? Can you give details in description? Confused.. I'm on a Quest 3 and searching for a guide & settings. (wireless Virtual Desktop) - Vielen Dank
Never tried this, I don't normally suffer from motion sickness but might see if it works with friends. Having a fan blowing on you helps a good bit as well.
All very well. But what are the specs of your PC. With my 5800X3D/RTX3080 and Pimax Crystal it runs at about 1 frame every twenty seconds!!!! In PC2, AMS2, AC or any other driving game it is perfect.
Oh really 😂? GT7 ? The game with short stages , No damage system , worst physics and Environment that is Way way less compared than WRC ? And it looks better ? What a miracle....
They need to make it vr only so they can focus on the vr and not mix it. Release screen version and a VR only version its the mixing them thats the problem. Its razy why they dont do this must cost them more time.solving stuff than it would if they didn't have to worry about breaking the screen version.
Sim racing came to the point where people said the graphics look actually realistic just for vr to come along and ruin the graphics again. Imagine the image quality and performance from a monitor inside a vr headset. That woukd be dope.
In DR2 in headset I have visuals like on a monitor, in AMS2 also. WRC here is another story, but it shows that the technology is there, just some game engines are not well optimized.
If the vr updates give a two different image remdering to each lense then i could rate it 10/10 for having a 3d dept effects... but if the two lense just have same image rendering then i could just rate it 1/10... . Hmmmm
They better make it for psvr2 makes no sense that dirt rally 1 had it on psvr1 but then they didn’t for dirt rally 2.0 like it needs to be made for psvr2
Come on man. You're disabling OpenXR TOOLKIT, not OpenXR itself. The game is still running in OpenXR. Opencomposite is doing nothing, because the game already runs in OpenXR.

This game is the perfect example ofnwhat the results are when a game which isn't built with vr from the start and instead squeezed in at the end. This game is the worst VR SIM game I have played to date. Apart from the game mostly crashing even before you get to the stage. once you get to a stage then you wish it did crash, the graphics are just so bad.
I'm done with VR and selling my Quest 2 and 3. VR is so clunky, shitty and unuser friendly. Total PITA and inefficient to navigate around it's menus, etc. Graphics and sound are rubbish and is no more immersive than a good desktop screen. VR is a bloody gimmick IMHO! Still needs years of developement. Wish I never wasted my money to find out.
thanks for the video you were able to use opxrtoolkit for me with crista it lets me use it only set in safe mode if you use it tell me how you did it thanks
Every racing game needs VR support. Its not even hard to do anymore.
100%
Should be part of the early stages of game development and not an after thought anymore.
Basically, WRC could have been run in VR since release by using the UEVR mod. So yes, basic implementation not hard.
100% agree. Any racing game without VR is DOA to me lol
Support isn't a problem There are 3rd party apps that do that. But performance is a huge turn off.

DLSS Quality without sharpening also works best for me, but still kinda hungry with a 4080 on full resolution with the Crystal. -Michel
How do I make it VR? I’m using a steam HMD (dpvr E4) and I don’t receive an option to enable VR after launching.

Same for Rift S 😢 my eyes hurt, turning brightess down makes it kinda worse, we need contrast slider or more image settings in general.
Disable HDR if enabled, sometimes it sticks, headset won't support it and will render everything super washed out.

Hello can not get my vive pro working with eawrc .
Other games works perfect .
Do you have some idee
Is TrackIR also supported?
Chew mint gum while driving in VR! It massively reduces motion sickness.
As soon as the gum starts to lose its flavour, swap out for a fresh stick!

The best thing is fresh ginger.
Wow, smart!
when i got sick from vr,I take a tea spoon of Ginger Paste. Now i can easily do 60min races on nordschleife in ACC without getting sick at all tho
motion sickness is the best part, i miss when i'd get it occasionally in vr 😮💨
For me on a 3080, 12600k, 32 gigs ddr5 with a rift s. It is blurry as hell, I can't see 20 feet in front of me.
3070 and meta quest 2. It's garbage
