Also, seems like the way the car rotates is still a bit arcadey, with the rear wheels sliding out even at very low speeds, but I still got to test it first hand, DR2 was very fun to play on wheel.
Yeah it's very arcadey, every car has extreme oversteer and they feel super light like the tires aren't on contact with the road, just floating around turning far quicker than any of these cars is capable of in real life.

finally an honest review. Feel like EA spent millions on positive reviews and happy WRC drivers showoff instead of some real dev efforts. 'Next gen' what we deserve in 2023... Commercial bs
@@test1ngthew4ters Why would you judge the game from someone with minimum requirements? I have a 6700XT that's low end 1440p and it runs well 90% of the time (70fps ultrawide, stutters on some stages). This is the most fun racing game in recent years for me. Also you have the option to disable EA Sign in from the settings?
@@ark14700 don't get me wrong - the game was the most anticipated title of the year to me. I was disappointed when EA bought Codemasters, and after the release I'm frustrated with the quality and attention to the details - the game is even more EAish than I expected. It's exciting due to its long and new stages. This is it. When the TH-camrs say cliche phrases "wow next gen, super fun, the best rally", it sounds like a prepaid bs. I don't need Digital Foundry to see that the graphics look 5-7yrs old 😞
For someone who only plays racing/sim games for about 4 hours a week, this game/sim is perfect for me I tried RBR, I can see the appeal but I don't wanna crash into a small rock and restart my rally
I was on the fence coming from WRC Generations, the lack of super specials is shocking. Maybe time to play my back catalog of games and come back at the sequel after this :)
@@ark14700 yes, it definitelly feels like NFS. It looks morr arcade. You need to play previous WRC 10 , and compare. While WRC feels more realistix , the new EA WRC feels arcade
I would say the opposite, WRCG feels like a boat cruising on calm waters at all times. While EA WRC actually nails the feel of a chaotic and fun rally where things can go really bad at slightest little bump. This game is the best rally game in a long long time, maybe ever. I never played RBR but every other rally game is beaten by this in my opinion and I have played a lot over the years. I will try RBR also to see what the fuss is about.
Great video, thank you so much for sharing! Just one thing concerns me I haven't seen any track/video showing dynamic Weather switching from dry to wet for example as we had on KT WRC. Do you have any info? Will be available only on Release or later updates?
Please I’d really love to know, dirt rally 2.0 has moments where the lighting and sunshine make them game feel magical and gorgeous. Does this games have moments like that?
No, the lighting, shadows and environments are a big step back from dirt 2. The pixel count might be higher, but the quality of the assets and lighting model is pretty bad.
Yes, some of the asian stages just pop in the sunlight. I'm running it at Medium settings and get a stable 70+ fps. The Japanese roads are very cool to drive through, plus there's the African Safari which is a whole different beast. Here its definitely the case of prioritising quantity of quality (17 countries with more km per stage vs 6 in DR 2.0) and I think they made the right decision, there's so much variety in roads to drive.
Ordered it but needs psvr2 support as code masters did with a previous Dirt game and it was great on psvr really think that EA are just prioritising PC only as psvr2 support is also needed in the F1 games
Having problems with the G923 wheel on Xbox Series X! There’s like no feeling, i adjust the saturation and deadzone. There is so much play in the wheel it takes a full rotation to even turn the car.
@@OverTake_gg I messed around with the saturation and deadzone settings, so when I turn the wheel it lines up with the wheel on the tv. Well it doesn’t do that at all! I can’t find even ground between no steering feel or just having the wheel twitch left and right rapidly. I calibrated the wheel but it still doesn’t work. Maybe a update will be needed for Logitech users, this was why I should’ve waited till the games was out for a month or two so they fixed the bugs.

Just tested a few stages/cars and it feels terrible. Ill need to work on settings for sure. As it stands its a copy paste of dr2 with a wrc skin and much worse visuals.
I found the right settings for my trusty CSL Elite and my ffb hits the sweetspot (reduced SAT to 90, all other sliders to 60-70 whole Tyre slip and Suspension stays at 100). The way the wheels react over gravel and tarmac is exactly how it should be for me The amount of rally stages they give you is so much that I don't think I'll go back to any other rally game (ever WRC Generations).
Great review. Can anyone tell me, if pc version supports haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on dualsense controller and impulsive triggers on xbox controller?
I’m having trouble with the wheel calibration process. I can’t tell if I’m doing it right and my wheel doesn’t match the position of the wheel on screen in the cockpit view. Thrustmaster T300 on PS5
@@Superstocker669 I don’t even use the view that displays the steering wheel. My concern is questioning the wheel calibration, even though I feel like I’m doing it right, based on the fact that the wheels don’t match up perfectly when it is on screen.

Haven't play this, but the visual on the stages isn't spectacular whatsoever. WRC Generations stages wins this, but I hope the gameplay improving from the already great Dirt 2.0. Can't wait!
I really liked the original Dirt. Then I skipped Dirt 2 but played Dirt 3 non stop. It was one of my favorite games. Haven’t really played any other rally game since but thought I’d give this one a try. I hope it is good.
It's fun on PS5 and im sure there will be improvements to the PC version, the foundation is DEFINITELY there. Weekly challenges, clubs, hardcore damage, etc. Yeah, I will be purchasing my first wheel setup, this game, and the improvements to GT7, it's time and just in time for the holiday season. I plan on investing some serious but fun effort into this game. I want to join a club that just wants to have fun online.
Why is the game cheaper than regular games? Is it not a full experience? If anything I expected a higher price from EA (it's 50 instead of 70 in my country on ps5)
It's cheaper in every country because it's just a reskinned Dirt Rally 2.0 with more bugs, worse lighting, sound and simulation model. It feels old as soon as you drive your first car in it.
@@JG-ib7xk Can't be a reskin when they built it in a different engine and the tracks are 100% new. Shows you don't have a clue about the work that goes into developing something like a game
Have been having some minor stuttering on Xbox Series X, for some reason though there’s a noticeable amount of screen tearing. Mostly in high density areas and at nighttime.
I covered this briefly in the video, there is also a marker for this section :) It works, but I can imagine that a narrow 20km+ stage is very hard to do with the controller. -Michel
Extremely on/off (brakes and accelerator either 100% on or 100% off) and super quick steering. It's much more arcadey than even Dirt 4 which is a bit of a shock when playing it
Right now this is unplayable game for me...Stutterings and framedrops are horrible (same on med, high or max settings so i bet this is more of shitty ea DRM fault or really bad optimisation). Graphics is not great with ugly yellow/brown filter. WRC Generations and Dirt Rally 1,2 are looking much better and the sad part is that stages are lifeless :( No random events....no animals crossing,no crashed cars, no spectators or stuards are moving on road....this is shame because old VRally 2 from 1999 have this feature ( of course WRC Rally Evolved had awesome random events). Driving physics is really fun, sounds are awesome but this is nothing next gen or big leap foward in rally games...Don't take me wrong: EA WRC is good game with solid foundations...In some aspects they made step or two foward but in other things they made few steps back 😒
We talked to Asetek, they might already released an update to their RaceHub software, which now has a built in button to "fix" the file on WRC, so that the asetek wheelbases work with the game (and you don´t have to do the code lines yourself). We had been in touch with them right away to look for solutions. Moza is reported to be in contact with WRC as well to get this done - Rene
On Xbox series s it runs fine , handbrake seems very delayed and there is a small amount of input lag from my g920s you can get away with alot more than dirt suspension is way to forgiving
I bought the XBSX version. Have to say, on initial impressions, visually it's not blowing me away. I can't even find any graphics option in the settings menu. I dunno, maybe later? I am pleased to see the addition of SE Asian stages (finally!), which are certainly fun to bomb around - rally + jungle just seem to fit together so well. But even here, I think the track environments could have been far more dramatic (SE Asia is a stunning region of the world, in terms of its varied landscapes, after all). Ah well, early days, so I'm hoping EA patch and update this sim over the next months/years to produce something of the quality and polish of Dirt2.0 (but that was a very long journey to final build).
-Michel

After Dirt Rally 2, I'm not impressed. A lot of the rocks and off road stuff has no effect on the car. Watching the replay, the suspension doesn't move at all, it's like Need for Speed 2007. The engine sounds like it's in a bathroom and collisions sound distant. Pacenotes are delivered with such little emotion that it's easy to ignore warnings. Also - EA DRMs, always online and the feel you have like you're signing a deal with the devil when opening a game... Maybe cracked version will work better because Denuvo won't steal all your frames ;')
finally an honest review.
I don't need Digital Foundry to see that the graphics look 5-7yrs old 😞
Excellent review :) Looks like a decent game.
"Max is thrilled with the team"..."Aaaaargh!" Great review.
Great, review!! Honest detailed. Well worded not dragged out.. easy listen top work!
Thank you Andy! -Michel
Sounds like they should have let it cook for another month or two.
You are probably right. -Michel
For someone who only plays racing/sim games for about 4 hours a week, this game/sim is perfect for me
I tried RBR, I can see the appeal but I don't wanna crash into a small rock and restart my rally
I was on the fence coming from WRC Generations, the lack of super specials is shocking. Maybe time to play my back catalog of games and come back at the sequel after this :)
Same here. i no longer trust n EA sport games. It feels like a need for speed rally . I Decided to keep my WRC 10.
@@juancruz-jg5pqHave you played it? It's roughly 0% NFS and 100% rally
I have WRC generations and it works great with my pc. I wonder if EA WRC will still work as well.
Great video, thank you so much for sharing! Just one thing concerns me I haven't seen any track/video showing dynamic Weather switching from dry to wet for example as we had on KT WRC. Do you have any info? Will be available only on Release or later updates?
Is this a live service game, like Rally2.0 was, or can i play it wothout an internet connection....
Always online
Excellent review! Thank you very much.
Love the shirt. That distance record is amazing!
@@JG-ib7xk that’s a huge shame. I loved dirt for the sound and graphics. Maybe it’ll get a graphics update? I can hope
Psvr2 will never take off.
It's EA now so they're not going to spend the money on a PSVR2 mode, especially when only a couple of thousand people will actually play it
How would you say it compares to WRC Generations?
So I assume I need to change a file to get my simagic alpha to work?
Having problems with the G923 wheel on Xbox Series X! There’s like no feeling, i adjust the saturation and deadzone. There is so much play in the wheel it takes a full rotation to even turn the car.
Is there a separate Xbox Mode you need to activate? Does work normally with other titles? -Michel
Good review!
Finally we have a confirmation that this is Unreal Engine 4 game and not 5.
Knew it, so annoying how they wouldn't say !
@@snoopycharlie8718 they said so awhile back on a developer interview
@@marcusalexander4437 All the mainstream stuff didn't though, had to go digging. Do you know how easy/ difficult it is to upgrade to UE5, since they already moved to UE4?
@@snoopycharlie8718 no I don't. I also would have liked if they used ue5. Maybe there might have been even more performance issues
@@marcusalexander4437 Yeh potentially. Thoughts are we'll have to wait for the next iteration of the game to see UE5.
Will we be able to use Moza in the future on this?
You can use the MOZA already with a little change in a file, but as far as we know, codemasters is already in touch with moza to get official support. - Rene
Just tested a few stages/cars and it feels terrible. Ill need to work on settings for sure. As it stands its a copy paste of dr2 with a wrc skin and much worse visuals.
Exactly!
I found the right settings for my trusty CSL Elite and my ffb hits the sweetspot (reduced SAT to 90, all other sliders to 60-70 whole Tyre slip and Suspension stays at 100). The way the wheels react over gravel and tarmac is exactly how it should be for me
The amount of rally stages they give you is so much that I don't think I'll go back to any other rally game (ever WRC Generations).
Great review. Can anyone tell me, if pc version supports haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on dualsense controller and impulsive triggers on xbox controller?
The foundation is there....weather EA wants to improve it we will have to see. But looks promising.
A 2 player career similar to f1 would be cool
Is it controller friendly the PS5 version?
Why no hot seat? That is so much fun and missing in rally games for years.
I’m having trouble with the wheel calibration process. I can’t tell if I’m doing it right and my wheel doesn’t match the position of the wheel on screen in the cockpit view. Thrustmaster T300 on PS5
Just disable the wheel in cockpit. No need to see 2 wheels
@@Superstocker669 I don’t even use the view that displays the steering wheel. My concern is questioning the wheel calibration, even though I feel like I’m doing it right, based on the fact that the wheels don’t match up perfectly when it is on screen.
No triple monitor support???
I like it so far, but I need better settings for my 8nm CSL DD pro.
I'm using the same. Same settings as DR 2.0
@@Fester_ I'll give that a try. Thanks.

Hi great review. Any news on telemetry data for simhub / bass shakers etc
Can't wait for this, Just ordered a RTX 4070 to play it on. and got the game free on EA play (steam) for £0.80 for a month. Now i'm really looking forward to VR support too. It may ever pull me away from GT7 on PSVR2
Online Rankings where?
Guess they'll come 3rd Nov, am i right??
No dirt..no.dust..no snow on cars!!!!
Are we playing the same game? My cars are filthy after a stage, windshield gets dirty too.
Haven't play this, but the visual on the stages isn't spectacular whatsoever. WRC Generations stages wins this, but I hope the gameplay improving from the already great Dirt 2.0. Can't wait!
Yes. Visuality is so-so but handling-sounds-wrc-feeling is top notch
Completely honest take, I've played this a lot and the sheer driving pleasure overshadows any deficiency in the graphics (as long as its not stutters)
@@ark14700 glad to know. Thanks for the input mate!
How does it compare to richard burns rally?
It's really forgiving. Usually you can just continue even if you hit a rock or a tree.
is it better than dirt rally?
PS5 user here. Lots of stuttering before races and weird artifacts in the rearview mirrors. I hope they squash all the bugs.
I really liked the original Dirt. Then I skipped Dirt 2 but played Dirt 3 non stop. It was one of my favorite games. Haven’t really played any other rally game since but thought I’d give this one a try. I hope it is good.
Great in dept review and presentation! Going to check the game out for sure.
Doesn't sound like any review code went out for the console versions. Doesn't make me too optimistic that the game will run well.
It actually runs fantastic on my PS5, I was playing with friends that were on PC complaining about stuttering but I was totally fine
@@boarman3647 at least some good news! -Michel
Have been having some minor stuttering on Xbox Series X, for some reason though there’s a noticeable amount of screen tearing. Mostly in high density areas and at nighttime.
It doesn't run well on PS5, constant stutters and load times are longer than they should be. Bad shadows, lighting and track detail on consoles too
My tgt-2 wheel won't work on ae wrc iam on ps5 ?
How's the handling with controller?
I covered this briefly in the video, there is also a marker for this section :) It works, but I can imagine that a narrow 20km+ stage is very hard to do with the controller. -Michel
Extremely on/off (brakes and accelerator either 100% on or 100% off) and super quick steering. It's much more arcadey than even Dirt 4 which is a bit of a shock when playing it
@@JG-ib7xk ohou, thats extremly bad news for me then.
Runs smoothly? dude, what are you talking about?!
I thought it was only me
is there any words about the random events? I don't want to wait till another game for this (if they even do another one instead of updating this one)
Very good review, very complete. Thank you
Love this simcade 👍👌🥰 But we Need Daylys and Weeklys like in DR 2.0
Unbelievable Moza not supported. Im on Xbox, and about to buy the R3 bundle ; now i think should just go for Fanatec
Driving physics is really fun, sounds are awesome but this is nothing next gen or big leap foward in rally games...Don't take me wrong: EA WRC is good game with solid foundations...In some aspects they made step or two foward but in other things they made few steps back 😒
Game seems ok thus far. I'm annoyed that they didn't add support for the Asetek or Moza wheelbase. Hopefully that changes.
I don't think the game was made as a pure simulation, more like a game to get people interested in rally and so it's a bit easier to pick up and play
No SSS stages. That sucks.

I supported the first few Dirt games, and Remember Dirt 2 that had some baja trucks, and that one track with 90° turns, was very impressive. Be nice to have some baja trucks again.
No games release finished today, but they try to release on a level that's par for experience. 'At the core this could be the best rally game yet? Is that right. Wow.
The new TT isle of man: ride on the edge 3 come out, there in may, and has open world and transforms the game because of it. All racing games should have atleast a sandbox level for people to play, interact, learn the feel of the car etc.
It will also be very very nice if they keep that free roam up even though it was tiny dirt rally 2.0. I wish they would put a similar a little bit bigger free roam map
I am running it on a 4080 and it lags like crazy, mid corner you get a lag spike i dont get on any other game
Thats crazy because for me it runs smoothly with the 4080. Probably another hardware component that is not well optimized with WRC, maybe different types of SSDs, storage or CPUs. -Michel
EA subscribers lockdown = RED ALERT.
Instant classic and I’m confident they will fix any issues with the game, just give it time.
I pre orderd the game I have al the season passes and dlc’s but I can’t play now can someone help😡
The copilot declares we have a puncture within one millisecond of hitting something? - That kills any feeling of realisism. My old GTX1660 runs it pretty well at 2560x1600 ...until a little box pops up with my split time and the whole thing stutters! With a few improvements it will be a great game but these little things are spoiling it for me. Oh and my engineer is really annoying.
i am Rbr fan and i wondering when we can see Richard Burns Rally's realistic damage level on other rally games...thanks for review❤
The dirt series has exceptional damage models
@@scfcfamily2153 Rbr realistic damage level more than exceptional damage model
@@scfcfamily2153not really, you can skip and bounce your way through every dirt track on the highest damage setting and it still doesn't slow you down much at all. The cars don't even break apart in realistic ways, they look more like toys with cardboard body panels falling off them. I don't know why the developers didn't just watch a real rally and model the damage from what happens in real life, it would've been much bettwr
13:24 wait, there's a "next game"?
Then I'll just wait until that game is out so I can buy this on discount
I'm in no hurry
Paint on some cars, especially on replays, looks strange. Like the clear coat/ lacquer is not letting enough light pass though. Impreza blues looked better in Dirt 2.0 for example. Look too 'white' in this EA WRC.
No rallycross yet?
No, and there won't be any, since WRC is the official game of the Rally Championship, not RX unfortunately :/ -Michel
@@OverTake_gg Aww, that's too bad. I really loved the RX events in Dirt Rally 2. Hopefully the wheel I used on my ps4 will work in this game as well. If so, I'll be having fun nonetheless :)
I’ll check it out for sure but of course the publisher has me worried
I hive a disability and a find it fire harder to cobtroal the game even with all the assist options in the game set to 5 forca motersport is a lot easier to dive. WRC graphics looks realy good.
Is the physics and car control like dirt 2.0?
No it's more arcadey, not as simulation like. It's been made for casual car game fans not rally fans.
Is it Unreal Engine 4? Not 5?
yes, 4
What about VR?
They said we are getting it but we don't know when. It's definitely needed.
One to pick up in 6 months when they've fixed most of the bugs
Even with the bugs it's the most fun I've had with a racing game
Wow im impressed with how it looks! I may finally get a new rally game which my last one is dirt2.0 rally
After Dirt Rallye 1 and 2 my 3rd favorite Rallye game :)
Does the game have realistic damage ? Is it as good as Richard Burns Rally ?
No. It is an easier version of dirt rally. It's still a lot of fun but it's missing basic features like triple screen support and VR and the tires/suspension have been given godlike superpowers to make it easier for the casuals
@@mg-by7uu
Yhea it feels more arcadey - which actually feels opposite to who really goes for rally games. I don't know why they do this as it takes away the risk reward factor of rallying and hits sales as those prefer the more authentic side of rallying.
I hope more people bring this up and EA will take notice and implement an option for this.
Also destruction to environment eg fences, plants , trees...etc should be implemented better rather than bouncing off walks, fences, twigs..etc
@@techknow9237 Agreed. DR2 had better environment destruction
@@mg-by7uu
I don't know why they missed out on environmental damage as that is part of rallying when you crash into posts, fences, go off the road, hit trees, hit banners...etc;
No, it's much more toned down than previous Dirt Rally games, more aimed at the arcade crowd.
