When you’re on the verge of a stall and you deflect the ailerons, the plane will usually snap roll in the opposite direction. The aileron that goes down to lift that side of the wing increases the angle of attack and drag, causing it to stall first and also pull the plane to that side. The plane was so small in the video that I couldn’t really tell what happened, but it didn’t seem to have much power or speed during the takeoff..

Sorry to see this Che. With any luck the bulk of the cost is still usable. The airframe itself is only a small portion of that $2000 cost. If the retracts, servos, ESC, fan unit, etc is still in working order then this isn’t as bad a loss as it seems at face value.

I’ve watched this several times and it look identical to what happend with my b2 bomber. I have come to the conclusion I lost orientation and when I realized I was a step behind what the plane was doing and it went down. Sick for you brother but good attitude about it. Bro, dang! I just bought my first big L-39 like what rc informer has a few months ago. It’s a nice plane too. We size up not because we have to but because of the thrill for the next best thing. Best of luck to that next one!

Che it happens to everyone, thanks for having the guts to share. My BH L-39 blew the ESC on maiden and I had to deadstick land it. It stalled early and the nose shattered. If Motions gets a fuselage back in stock I’ll get it for $300 and get it back in the air eventually. But I know the feeling, I was sick about it! That thing takes so much time to build not to mention the price! Head up high and get back out there soon!
Sad to see such a nice aircraft go in. I must admit it looked very underpowered on take off and throttling back after takeoff would have reduced the speed even more which makes me think its a simple stall. The speed didn't seem to be building that well, also when did you raise the flaps, that could have been the final straw in making the wing stall. It's always a bummer not knowing the exact cause of the crash.
Sorry to see that magnificent bird go down like that definitely went down before its time. What servos did you have on the ailerons?

Guy on Reddit just had his elevator come apart in flight. I talked with him. The manual has you us CA glue to install the hinges. These hinges need 30 minute epoxy to hold.
Man that sux bro! Sorry for your loss! I just crashed my f5 last week. Nothing compared to the price of this but she was my favorite jet. At least you got a legit excuse for something new!!

Che sorry to see that . I agree with Pilot Jerry RC, Takes Balls to share this disaster with us. You will overcome this set back and servos lock up, hinges snap, wings implode, receivers brown out, linkages break ect... ect... the price of the model matters little because anything man made can and will fail at the worst possible time. We all know your a Good Pilot and do your preflight checks. Some of us respect what you do and those who do not are Haters. Good luck and may you see happier flying ahead.
Dude! Only other thing would be a stall in the turn beside aileron failure. But it looked like you had plenty of speed compared to your first flight. I'm an older jet pilot but never had a crash of my jets. My prop planes, yes! I stalled 2 of them. So I can imagine the pain of losing that beautiful bird. You would love to fly where I flew, on the dry lake bed of El Mirage in Adelanto, CA. Tons of just runway everywhere. Now I live in Orange County with ZERO runway anywhere and don't fly :(
It's sad the loss of such a cool plane. I'm flying the L-39 AF with Turbine. Was it the range test, connector-, cable-, wing-fuselagconnector failer, radio antenna, Power breakdown.... ?
But despite not a reason to cry into the camera :-)

Hi sorry for that loss... I was flying the black horse l-39 plane 1 year until I sold it... for me it was definitely an tipstall. the this model has to be flown in wide curves, caused from her span an weight. and when this occur you have only small chance to get the control back. that needs fast reaction close over the ground. as a Tipp the viperjet is much more stable. greetings
Hi Hamilton I have the same plane with a KingTech K45-G2. Yesterday I had exactly the same happening but on a left turn. Frustrated like you I don’t know what the real cause was. I had 10 flights beautiful and without any problems.
Did you research in the meantime what it could have been?
Actually my crashed plane looks the same.

Very sorry this happened. Looks like a stall to me although hard to tell. Right after takeoff you changed some trim. Did you add some up trim? One thing with these EDF is that thrust reduces rapidly during the first 30s so maybe you needed to fly it a little faster with a lower angle of attack. This hobby can bite hard. We have all lost many great planes!

Nooo 😭 Sorry man! I agree with @txkflier in his remarks below - it definitely was an accelerated stall. Next jet you get with a higher wing loading, we'd suggest taking it up nice and high and purposely loading up the wing in a high bank turn while slow. Let it snap over and work on recoveries. Too long to type out full thoughts on how to practice this here but practicing upset recoveries will help prevent it again. Unfortunate loss but a great learning experience, nonetheless. Keep on flyin'!

Im shaking my head. First Im sorry for the loss of that beautiful plane. Second I tend to agree with your assessment of surface failure based on the slow spiral aileron role to the left. If your telemetry didnt show signal loss then clearly you had a surface failure causing the crash. Just realize its not a failure, it happens to all of us even with the big models. Still super proud of you for the build and successful first flight and I know you will have another one!

That was a real bummer man and I sure feel for you, I've been flying all sorts of aircraft for a lot of years and have had more than my share of those WTF moments/ total losses. I have the exact same jet in the same scheme (among many others including turbines big and small) and they all fly great in the right circumstances but in the wrong circumstances most jets will do just what yours did - a classic quick and without warning snap stall which are almost all impossible to recover in time, unless you are way up high. I'd put it down to a lack of speed in that turn, and the lower wing just let go, giving it quick opposite aileron just adds to the problem. You need to get more speed to recover from those stalls but the earth does come up fast doesn't it! I'm sure most of the electronics will be salvageable and will slot right in to the next model. I'd go for a more forgiving model, like the Blackhorse Viper and most of your components will slot right in. Good luck with your next build and flying.

good luck mate and i feel your pain.. but is it me or the 90 is too small for this size of L39, as i have smaller one (composite) and it requires either 120mm EDF or turbine so i shuved a K70 inside XD

i left a comment on your F100 crash.... since your using JETI, i think you might be getting interference. are you running 2.4 AND 900mhz rx's? i see that shool in the background... if they are running high power Wifi APs it could be interfering with your signal... have you checked your jeti logs? (i think jeti has logs)

Ché, at 0:43, what is the transmitter adjustment or sound being made?
I don’t fly with a Jeti, so I’m unfamiliar with that sound other than when trims are being made.
Man, I hated to watch this video. But it’s also part of the adventure in this hobby unfortunately.
That was me giving it up elevator trim sir because I felt her nose heaviness after shifting the batteries aft from the last flight a bit and taking the previous trim out. I really Appreciate you taking the time to watch this brutal crash. And I was out there flying again this afternoon after it happened this morning bro! Not giving up that easy. Take care man!

So sorry mate, that's absolutely terrible! I've been watching the build of this and was excited for you jumping into something big and your enthusiasm for it. It's never easy to have an aircraft go in especially if there was a gremlin within the components that you couldn't have foreseen. I don't know what to say man. Terribly sorry. Hope you can salvage the electrical components to use in another project.

Unfortunate but it does happen. Paying close attention to the video AND what you said "roll in opposite direction" explains what happened. You're flying a dark blue airplane against a gray sky. If you notice, when you temporarily rolled out of the right turn, it was in silhouette mode. So when you when you thought you recovered and went to continue the right turn, it was actually banking to the left, which would explain why, when you pulled ELEV in the turn, it went down instead of up, because as you thought you were continuing a right bank, you were actually banking left, and by the time you thought you were level, you were actually almost inverted. So when you pulled up, you were pulling into the ground. If you watch closely you can see it end up in an away bank attitude. Plus, you can see when it's going down, the vertical stab is toward the ground. Inverted. Disorientation. It happens.

My heart goes out to those two brave pilots. 💔 my son crashed 3 - $500 planes in one day , that was my biggest rc financial loss 📉 😢 .. he was only 10 years old at the time . He's almost 30 now lol and I don't miss the money 🤣 because those memories that surround those days last a lifetime. Successes and failures. It's all good 👍 you were right when you said , ( you knew the risks ) flying is so different from rc boats or trucks , they are operating in two dimensions. It's that 3rd dimension that is so risky . That's why we get that shake in our knees and our heart rate races and why we love it so much . Not everyone can do it . I'm teaching my grandkids now . My 9 year old is getting it now . He felt that rush yesterday. On the simulator 10 Successful challenge flights . He was so proud of himself. I believe he could fly my slow stick right now . But going to take him up on the buddy cord a few times first . Let the memories begin lol 😆...

Oh good god... why.. but how? This plane flew so well.
What I have noticed is that most fatal problems stick their ugly head up in the first few flights. After, that it becomes less and less likely. In less a burnt out lipo is used or something. Even the cheapest servos last a pretty long time.

Che', I watched many times.At 52 seconds,you can see something come off of the aircraft.Did you see that? I had to watch and stop a few times,but you can see a piece come loose,probably an aileron.A bummer,but Air Marshall along with others trying to help.Thanks for sharing this unpleasant event.
Don Atkins, that was just a bird flying by. I thought the same at first but after many times watching the video this is a case of a stall. Read my other comment for the full assessment. Like others have said, it’s almost a relief knowing he stalled the plane, because that means his building skills are good, and his radio system is fine etc. Now he doesn’t have to wonder what will go wrong whenever he goes to fly something else. Just don’t get slow!
I am not pilot, but jets need speed. And if you start turning in low speed - its finish, your last chance is only big altitude for reclaiming control. Only single moment, when you can fly with jets in low speed is on center (+ flaps if extreme slow). Plane as L39 forgive you to much fails - thats why is training jet - i think oblivion flaps, but never time low speed turning. This applies to everyone jets. If drag plane construct to extreme speed (super fighters), they need to much speed to turning and they are much more susceptible low speed mistakes. I am from czech republic, live 30km next to Aero Vodochody, fabrication of L39. It hurts, when i see ours planes destroyed. Good luck bro. Here we say: You learn from mistakes, the main thing is to admit them.

I feel your pain mate, I rolled my Savex L-39 (Wren 44i turbine) onto it's back after 5-flights. It was my first turbine jet.
It was my fault, I turned upwind onto my landing leg and wind shear just took her out of the sky (too slow with the wind at my back). It wasn't unlike your L-39 crash.
Anyway, 3-years later I have another Savex L-39 with the same turbine in it (airframe was a total write-off) and she has nearly 100 flights and around 10 hours of flight time on her now.
Nothing good ever comes easy. Keep up the videos and the content, love it that you're in the hobby ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
