  • Here's a flight from pilot Frank with his Black Horse L-39 flying in Alsbach, Germany.
    This L-39 has a 100mm Wemotect EDF unit flying with 12S 5000mAh Lipos (2x 6S HRB 5000mAh).
Total flight was around 6:30minutes, but some parts of the flight were cut out because of focus problems with my camcorder.
The Wemotec has a great sound and it gave the L-39 a nice scale power setup. Cruising around is possible with 18 Amps only!
    AUW: 5880 grams
The Wemotec fan produces 4300 Watts and over 6kg thrust!

Great flight...did you need to make any changes to the mounting points and the trust tube back end of the L-39 to fit the 100mm setup?

@@ghoustanable Hello, it wasn't me flying the Black Horse L-39. This one is from Airborn Jetworkx, you need to ask him!

@@ghoustanable The mounting points are the same, same plywood needs to be removed to make the fan fit. The fan needs an exhaust diameter of 85mm. I‘ve replaced the stock plastic back end with a 3d printed part and the hole in the rearmost wood former has been enlarged. The intake channels need to be shortened as well and the fan got a wide bellmouth intake.

@@airbornjetworkx3317 Thanks for the info. That said, so you didn't go with an open duct system for the fan correct?

@@ghoustanable It‘s an open duct system. There are about 5cm left from the stock inlet per side.

That was a great flight.I have the exact same motor was considering installing it in the L-39. Did you have to make any modifications to the mounting brackets as well as the thrust exit at the back end of the jet.

Hello im building my l39 black horse can you tell me how you installed the trust tube on the 100mm wemotec.

It needed a new revised thrust tube to achieve the recommended 85mm exhaust diameter. The stock plastic tail part has been replaced with a 3D printed part (own design).
