    Thanks for taking me along, Cap'n. Always enjoy your content. We'll be in Apalach for the 2024 ARS opener. BTW.... the white belly on the bonita is the best cut bait. I always cut it into strips and it is killer on jigs. "Man, it was a heavy pull and a fierce attack" - priceless. You done made those fish mad.

      Yep!! My son and I went out a couple days ago and did just that, catching some nice trout and redfish. Definitely made up for that tough day. Look for the video in a couple days!

      Awesome thanks! Yes, good trout and redfish bite, also heard flounder are doing good too. I’m working on a video now from a trip in the bay where we got a couple nice trout and a 30” redfish. Look for it later this week

      @@forgottencoastfishing nice. Hopefully we find similar luck. I own a business near veterans park and spend a lot of time in the area but this trip is all vacation and fishing. Hoping to get some content while I’m there. Thanks David

    Motors cooled by water wether their running ir not thats along run to trimm them up thus over heating. Be safe out there.

    • @forgottencoastfishing
      @forgottencoastfishing  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Mechanic is coming back out to check. Thinks maybe a water pump problem. It doesn’t overheat when running only at idle. I checked after running it and water from the pee hole was cool. So it like it’s not getting enough water movement at idle and when running that pushes water through better

      Keep them down an use steering to compensate for drift.

    David, you gotta get some rod butt cushions! There's no shame in it. Are you using spot lock on the GW or are you anchoring way out there? Nice vids as always, hope you're able to land more in the next one.

    • @forgottencoastfishing
      @forgottencoastfishing  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! Yes just keep forgetting about the rod butts until I’m fighting the fish!!! Yes I use an anchor when I’m out in the Grady some it doesn’t have a trolling motor. I’ve gotten pretty good at getting on the reef but sometimes it’s a real pain. I may add a trolling motor at some point. Thanks for watching!

  • @BStavFishing
    @BStavFishing 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Question. Why do you tilt your motors all the way up while you’re fishing? That puts a lot of stress on your hydraulics with the boat constantly rocking, doesn’t it?

    • @forgottencoastfishing
      @forgottencoastfishing  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Unfortunately I don’t have a trolling motor on the Grady so I have to use an anchor. I have the engines up basically since I just didn’t lower them after getting the anchor set. What I do to set the anchor is once I get over the reef I turn off the boat and raise the engines and let the boat drift so I can see which way it will drift once anchored. And it seems with the engines up I get a more accurate drift. Then once I see which way the boat will drift I can set the anchor on the opposite side of the reef the appropriate distance. Once I get the anchor letting out I turn off the engines and raise them again to drift the same way as before. Really no other reason than just not raising them after I get the anchor set. But you’re right, it might put undue stress on the transom, definitely try to get out of the habit of just leaving them up. Thanks for watching!

      @@forgottencoastfishing makes a load of sense! I love your videos and your methodical approach to everything you do! Hope my question didn't come off as being "cocky." My best to you and your family!!

      No not at all! Glad to be helpful! I leave the engines trimmed all the way down at home when they are sitting on the trailer for that same reason, so I need to try to remember to do the same out on the water.
