I am in the UK we have the same joys from our water companies. In the late 90’s our village water pipes as they were well over a hundred years old. The water company fed a hard plastic liner through the main feed due to corrosion problems. A couple of weeks later they added an extra burn to clear up bacteria in the water without a prior warning. Luckily I always put the water for water changes into large drums to pretreat first. The smell of the high levels of chemical off the chart. I immediately phoned the company to confirm. Then went door to door telling my neighbours to flush out their water systems before drinking cooking or generally using the water. Across the road from me a neighbour had a newborn premature baby and the mother had a poor sense of smell. She had just started to give the kid a bath. Luckily I had twenty gallons of warm distilled water that I was about to use for a water change for aCorrie breeding tank. Baby rinsed off with that water. He still spent two months in hospital chemical 90% burns lung damage as well. It took over three years of treatments before the all clear. The fines and damages against the water company massive. At least Fifty times higher than maximum levels of the chemicals is what they admitted to in court. It was in fact much higher. It also wiped out my dad’s hens poisoned their water it was on a auto system

Great video!!!!! I would recommend storing water in glass, not plastic, because most plastics leech hormone-like chemicals that have estrogen-like activity, even plastics that are deemed food safe and BPA-free. Use a spare aquarium or source some huge 14 gallon glass demijohns from the home brewing trade to store water (spare tank is cheaper than many demijohns, though). If you want to store water in plastic anyway, fill the containers and allow heated water to sit for at least a month, then discard that initial water, refill and use that 2nd if not 3rd batch for your tank(s). Great video and beautiful fish!!! I simply double dose Seachem Prime during water changes because my tap water has a stable pH.

Hello sir, I am new in keeping Discus. Have some questions.
    1. Does light play any role in keeping and rearing Discus?
    2. Is there any age specific diet chart for Discus? Asking this because, this question just came to my mind, if we don't give the same food to the children and the adults in our family, then there should be some specifications for the fishes too? Is my thinking wrong?
    3. Does it matter if we keep the tank on the floor or on a shelf?
    Looking forward to your response.

I think even Tubifex- the favorite food of the Discus, will get you one day. They come from and are collected in filthy waters. It's a wonder the collectors don't get typhoid.
I think of Beef heart as clean Tubifex, and I like Tetra Mins high color flake food as a good replacement for Brine Shrimp.
I wouldn't push 10 Discus in 100 gallons. One large happily mated pair for a decade is all I ask for a 100 gallon. Even for growing or show..6 in a 100 gallon is max. Six should make you just as happy as ten I say.
