I just started a 110 tall tank and I have been attending TH-cam University learning as much as I can about Discus. This video was helpful! Thanks for sharing. And thanks to Mathis for the tour and valuable education. Cheers from Detroit, Michigan.
I'm almost as excited seeing the videos as I would be actually getting the real thing , almost. Yeah ECSTATIC is a great word to describe the way it would make me feel, and the quality of everything that you do is a great thing to share. Best wishes for the staff and you ALWAYS having excellent customer interactions and ALWAYS believing in yourself 💚💙
Haha, I know right. I came in to the store just wanting to film, but then I couldn't resist. I'll post the jumbos I got this weekend, but you probably saw which ones from the video!
We went there it was amazing ! We bought lots of plants. Great selection knowledgeable staff. They prefer appointments because they are genuine and want to give the best experience.
Thanks to this video I've been getting all my discus (and tank mates here) since I've moved to NJ. The quality their discus is world class and the staff here are very helpful. It's also great place for plecos! Sure you can order online from other legit breeders but there's nothing like picking out your own discus. Plus who likes to pay $60+ dollars for shipping? If your an hour or two away - I'd highly, highly recommend coming here!
nice job!! about the time i was forced to leave the hobby 8 years ago i remember talk about discus madness on the discus forums .. the usual hating / bad talk from discus forum moderators because they dont want you to succeed as a discus seller unless you pour money into their pockets as a sponsor.. but looking at this video i see discus madness definately got it going on.. thumbs up !!
Love the video. It's always nice to see inside fish rooms and establishments to see how everything is running and if it's worth the time and money to invest in their livestock.
Thanks for all of your videos man! Got me into discus!! I sold most of my community based type fish last week and at the moment i have 7 discus in my planted tank.
Hi PDFT, I love your video again!! I went to Jack Wattley Discus in Miami and spent hours picking Gabe's (owner) brain and just taking pictures and soaking up the fish! I just love going to Discus Breeders it's like a candy store when you were a kid...all wide eyed and ooo's and ahhh's. I've seen discus madness online and seeing their set up on your channel is awesome because you ask the same questions that one of us (discus nerds) would ask, not to mention you zero in on the really cool fish. Thanks
Hi Cindy. Yeah it was a great time and I would have spent all day there if I was alone, but the kids needed their wifi haha! If I'm in Florida again, I would definitely visit Jack Wattley Discus and Gabe. Do you know if Jack is still active? Would love to interview him.
In the case of Jack Wattley Miami - they have the most amazing wild caught altums! their website does not do them justice, these fish are stunning and I have seen them jumbo sized in their showroom at 12+ inches tall. I love how the school and they are not aggressive thus great with discus. I don't know about Discus Madness.
Just got a shipment from these guys yesterday. I was very worried because I have never ordered fish sight unseen or even mail order before but I received was top quality and very beautiful. Fedex had a hiccup and delivered to the wrong house guess if they on the right street that"s close enough :-( Called the shop and they were very ready to assist with dealing with Fedex . Over all good quality and good customer service. Very happy with my purchase.
I have purchased from Discus madness..zebra pleco is what I purchased. Love him! I am definitely ordering from the company again! Very highly recommend.
I recently started to go there occasionally,I like the place a lot ,it’s clean and plenty of quality discus to choose from.prices are slightly high but not crazy and you get top quality ,healthy discus.i shop at absolutely fish and fish town USA too so I really cannot complain about discus madness prices, yesterday I was there. ,they were charging 10 bucks for huge german ram and gold rams which is unbelievable good price.yesterday I bought a small to medium red and white and large blue diamond and large fine line snakeskin and they look amazing and healthy .guy who works there (one looks exactly like Fox’s Billy O’Reilly and I mean it :) ) he is awesome, very patient, helpful and friendly with a lots of knowledge.
Making videos as a hobby (about your hobby) is time consuming - but very enjoyable for me. I go a few months between videos sometimes, too. But, I always find my way back :-) I just discovered this channel and I like it too!
Nice video!! i watched all of your videos multiple times i was wondering if you could make a video were you show youre lighting and wich type they are ?
Great video, same as cindy said awesome to see their set up! Also glad you asked him about the yellows turning orange with food. I wonder if they ship their beef heart. I am only feeding blackworms and having to dip them in PP before each feeding which is a pain!
Good question...they may be able to put in some dry ice and ship overnight...I'm sure mathias can accomodate. I bought a pound of the yellow beefheart, and the yellows are starting to like it.
What is the yellow colour enhancer? I'm wondering if I can ship to Cayman Is. I am a big shipper.... I have a freight forwarder. Bull unfortunately can't get perishables. I ship fish from Wattley Discus - they are awesome - Gabe packs the fish in the evening and takes them to my freight forwarder who put it on their daily flight to Cayman. I get the fish in less that 15 hours. All my fish arrived alive and kicking. I have photos of each fish coming out of the bag. Some are over 6" - the quality of the fish and health are more important to me than price shopping. Needless to say I think their prices are good.
Hi PDFT, I wanted to add to my previous comments, thanks for putting the added pictures of the fish and I loved the cool into where you zoomed into the location (how did you do that? I'm working on a video for my recent Iceland trip and would love to add this also what program do you use to edit your videos - I love how you make them). So a couple questions; what colour are the discuss at 8:27 they look redder than the usual turqs? What food did he recommend to feed the yellow fish? I would love for you to give us more insight into sexing discus... I know this is not an easy topic. I can't wait to see which fish you got... super cobalt green and blue? Did you get a breeding pair?
Hey Cindy, so for the video editor, I use Adobe Premiere Elements (A level below Premiere Pro and cheaper). For the map, I used Google Earth Pro (free to download), and it has a feature where you can record your screen, so I just recorded my zooming into the map. I think the jumbos in 8:27 of the video are fine line red turqs. For the yellow fish, they have a beefheart mix with yellow chlorophyll. I do have many videos planned for discus topics, and sexing is one...I agree its a difficult, and even experts get it wrong, but adult finnage, forehead size, and breeding tube size give us hints...but with juveniles, it becomes a guessing game! I will post the fish I got soon, but your guess is half right...haha got a build up suspense for the next vid!
Too bad you're not in Florida, I would love to visit your shop. I was into Discus once and had just about every color of Discus, but they were too much time consuming, so now back to goldfish, kois and oscars.
Hi there, I have a lot of AC water being reserved. And I want to keep that AC drained water in the aquarium I used to keep Discus. I'm hoping to use that water for Discus since it is so soft water, and has very low TDS. Would it be great if I use that water for to keep my discus?
This place super legit very very smooth bought my blue diamonds here they definitely know how to take care of there fish union NJ discus madness is the truth
Well...I did it again...ordered 2 more zebra plecos from discus madness...love this company...when you find a company that gives you excellent results...stay with them...dont..shop around. Great company!
I used to have 16 discus in 55 gallon tank and they all died only 2 Marlboro left and i don’t why they died the temperature is at 30 C water quality is good as there 2powerhead filter and 1 external filter and I do water change every week 30% and also the ph is at 5.5 any suggestions?
I think power heads are a good way to clean the bottom of the tank and get it out to the filter, but discus like to move slowly and graze on food at the bottom, so maybe a low powered wavemaker is appropriate.
PlantedDiscusFishTank i am thinking about useing a low power wave maker and running a for a hour only to get the dirt from the bottom moving. So the filter can collect it.
(O____O)! I think those jumbo are some of the biggest discus I've ever seen. My Big Red is maybe a little over 5 inches...but those things look like steaks.
I just started a 110 tall tank and I have been attending TH-cam University learning as much as I can about Discus. This video was helpful! Thanks for sharing. And thanks to Mathis for the tour and valuable education. Cheers from Detroit, Michigan.

Another great post. I knew you wouldn't be able to resist buying at least one. We are all like when it comes to that!!
Haha, I know right. I came in to the store just wanting to film, but then I couldn't resist. I'll post the jumbos I got this weekend, but you probably saw which ones from the video!
Great video! I feel like I am there! Totally worth your time to drop by Discuss Madness for this tour!

Thank you! I agree, you can tell if your fish will be healthy by how the store is operated.

Yes Jack alive to my knowledge and he is in his 80's I think. That would be awesome.
PlantedDiscusFishTank awesome fish guys! Are they good with other fish Luke Angel fish??
In the case of Jack Wattley Miami - they have the most amazing wild caught altums! their website does not do them justice, these fish are stunning and I have seen them jumbo sized in their showroom at 12+ inches tall. I love how the school and they are not aggressive thus great with discus. I don't know about Discus Madness.
That guy netted that discus like a boss. Like watching a Blue Heron catch a fish. Wow, he made that look easy.
Just got a shipment from these guys yesterday. I was very worried because I have never ordered fish sight unseen or even mail order before but I received was top quality and very beautiful. Making videos as a hobby (about your hobby) is time consuming - but very enjoyable for me. I go a few months between videos sometimes, too. But, I always find my way back :-) I just discovered this channel and I like it too!

Awesome yellow and blue diamond..
Too bad you're not in Florida, I would love to visit your shop. I was into Discus once and had just about every color of Discus, but they were too much time consuming, so now back to goldfish, kois and oscars.
Nice tour. Thank you.
I love your music choice, really nice If only we here in Canada had stores like this. Did your wife select this music..... if so what is it?
Very cool, I've brought from plecos from them before.
Nice, yeah they have some unique stuff there...the zebra plecos were very tempting.
Love your vids...wishing we had awesome discus breeders in New Zealand
Beautiful collection ❤️
Hi there, I have a lot of AC water being
reserved. And I want to keep that AC drained water in the aquarium I used to
keep Discus. I'm hoping to use that water for Discus since it is so soft water, and
has very low TDS. Would it be great if I use that water for to keep my discus?
Absolutly lovely
This place super legit very very smooth bought my blue diamonds here they definitely know how to take care of there fish union NJ discus madness is the truth
Keep the videos coming!!
Thanks!
Awesome,,thank you so much for sharing👍
Your'e welcome...did you change your avatar?
Why are discus so expensive in the US? I'm from Malaysia, prices here average 10-50USD.
very beautiful fishes
Hey PDFT - I'm just checking on you? Every thing ok? We haven't heard from you in a while and we miss you!!
Its been a long time. Wating for your new video. Hurry up.
I'm amazed of the demands internet/TH-cam people put on these guys!
Nice. I love Discus
Awesome awesome awesome!!!! Just subbed for more!
Thank you Shaun!
Beautiful fish
With the ease of breeding them and the high cost of keeping them, I will never understand why their retail prices are so ridiculously high.
👍🏿
Great content!
love your video ,....
Excellent fish store
Interesting video 👌🏽
looks really kool brotha
Great video. What did you buy?
I couldn't resist the jumbos...I'll post a vid this weekend. Thanks!
There was a yellow and white fish at 2:43, what kind of fish is that?
@Jamey Craig Thanks!!
Where have you been? We miss you!
Well...I did it again...ordered 2 more zebra plecos from discus madness...love this company...when you find a company that gives you excellent results...stay with them...dont..shop around. Great company!
expensive atho.
I don't know if this has been asked, but what are the "cones" in the tanks upon which the eggs are laid?
What's the name of the fish @2.44? Greets from the Netherlands
What a nice guy!
Gorgeous
It's been so long. With out any new video. Update please
PH is to low,,,,
Unless they are juveniles, 16 discus is too many for a 55.
Is it okay to add rock salt in Discus aquarium??? I intend to do it during the frequent water changes. Will it harm my fishes?
That place is badass
Do u do shipping cross sea to Caribbean????
Fantastic :O
How do you maintain these tanks if you go out on a long vacation ?
Pleco's sa Pinas?...Galing na hahaha!
What size tanks are the breeding pairs kept in?
6:30 The Young George Lopez, he got the voice too!
How or where do I get a cone for their breeding?
Beautiful shape
What is your opinion on wavemaker in discus fish tank???
I think power heads are a good way to clean the bottom of the tank and get it out to the filter, but discus like to move slowly and graze on food at the bottom, so maybe a low powered wavemaker is appropriate.
PlantedDiscusFishTank i am thinking about useing a low power wave maker and running a for a hour only to get the dirt from the bottom moving. So the filter can collect it.
I think that's perfect!
(O____O)!
I think those jumbo are some of the biggest discus I've ever seen.
My Big Red is maybe a little over 5 inches...but those things look like steaks.
Yeah, I was salivating, but not in a hungry way...haha! I had to take one home...I'll post the update soon!
Sick...can't wait to see it. Grats (^_^)
thnks for sharing
