I am 74 and loved music always. Diana is the only Dramatic Contralto I have ever found. This deep voice you hear is natural to her. But, she is so talented that she has learned to sing in higher keys. It is a falsetto voice which most singers have and for whom it sounds good but is recognizable as a falsetto. Diana, in one of her interviews, said that singing the song "Human" is very easy for her. So this vocal is more natural for her. BUT, now she has significantly advanced in high tones. Good luck.

She also has a background in yodeling, which you hear a great adaptation of in this song (hey yo ho hey ai oh). However, all this control and talent aside, she also has an amazingly unique timber or color to her voice. I recommend her performances of Renchenka, Intro, and Into the Skies.
Actually Tyler, the way she sings can be explained and these can be found on a number of reactions by vocal coaches. I will say, not all vocal coaches are created equal because some are totally clueless. Julia Nilon, or Marc Reynolds have a pretty good grasp on the technique, but I'm sure others can be suggested. Make no mistake, Diana has the perfect instrument to pull it off.

Honnest I would like to say Wow again and again .At the beginning I did ..but alas song after song the same vocal trick..so I hope for her that she will one day go out of her "zone of comfort"

I am 74 and loved music always. Diana is the only Dramatic Contralto I have ever found. This deep voice you hear is natural to her. But, she is so talented that she has learned to sing in higher keys. It is a falsetto voice which most singers have and for whom it sounds good but is recognizable as a falsetto. The deep singing voice in Human is her natural signing voice she said. Diana has a video Q&A out and someone asks her what the easiest song is to sing for her and she replied, "Human" because she said that is her natural singing voice and it's the least amount of effort, so there is no real manipulation other than God's gift (and hard work to refine her voice of course). th-cam.com/video/CovvriMeZws/w-d-xo.html Her voice is so rich and complex you can almost hear two voices at one time. When people sing you hit a certain frequency and that creates a tone/vocal color or timbre. She also has a background in yodeling, which you hear a great adaptation of in this song (hey yo ho hey ai oh). However, all this control and talent aside, she also has an amazingly unique timber or color to her voice. I recommend her performances of Renchenka, Intro, and Into the Skies.

Actually Tyler, the way she sings can be explained and these can be found on a number of reactions by vocal coaches. I will say, not all vocal coaches are created equal because some are totally clueless. Julia Nilon, or Marc Reynolds have a pretty good grasp on the technique, but I'm sure others can be suggested. Make no mistake, Diana has the perfect instrument to pull it off.

Tyler there are interviews with her talking on Tube, a telltale sign of where someones natural range is is where the spoken voice lives, when you hear her talk her voice is clearly Contralto in Register, she is a True Contralto, many other women singers can sing notes down in that range to some degree, Diana "lives there" in voice, also exhibited by the sublime tone and unusual power she sings with in that range, other singers can get down there to degree but not with the force and quality of sound Diana offers daily.
She doesn't have to try and go down there, she is there lol, going "up" is what Diana has been working on, look into Into The Sky and see how that is going, "hint" it is going fabulously.
She also has stated that this song she found to be the easiest to sing on this show because it is right within her "natural singing range".^^

Honnest I would like to say Wow again and again .At the beginning I did ..but alas song after song the same vocal trick..so I hope for her that she will one day go out of her "zone of comfort"

Here are three reasons why Diana doesn't sound human.
First, she is a dramatic contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich.
Second, she has a spectacular larynx. It is a gift from God, and others have called it the Eighth Wonder of the World.
Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below)
When you add all that up you basically get a person who who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune.
And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. One in seven billion.

To progress at least three judges have to press their buttons, except in the final where they don't vote, it's then opened to on-line viewer voting. Both years Diana won by a landslide. The show itself is set up especially for orphaned or disadvantaged kids to participate in.
