I've always wondered if this change/shift in her larynx is bcoz of her childhood incident where her bitch of a biological mother broke her collarbone..."damaging" her larynx or vocal cords in the process?? Or is it just completely god-gifted??

thanks great reaction to Diana she is such a gifted singer I know my reply is quite late but I have researched her a bit seems she has had quite a dark background in my research I've found a few things 1 her talking voice is quite normal even child like 2 she can and does sing into the higher tones on many of her songs this deeper darker side of her I'm thinking is more for the contest "You Are Super" I think she uses these deep dark tones to set the song apart from herself making the song itself far more mature then she is truly a gifted singer

I had a low voice for a woman from when I was about 11/12. I had to sing with the tenors in my choir and could sing comfortably lower than a lot of them. I don't have the same texture to my voice that she does obviously, she's amazing. But I honestly think it's a shame there aren't a lot of popular female singers who can sing lower. When I was younger I honestly thought I was just a freak. Didn't help that my teacher who led choir didn't explain that there is a low female voice type and that range isn't the be all and end all of any singer it's what you can get out of it that matters. For me I could technically reach the higher soprano notes but my head voice is just so weak and my switch from chest to head voice seems to be earlier than the other altos from when I was in choir. That's partly why I had to sing with the tenors because a lot of the alto music meant I had to switch to head voice while everyone else in alto was still in full chest. But anyway, thanks for the reaction, she's awesome! Such a class singer.

I feel that Shakira is a Mezzosoprano. Diana Ankudinova make me have doubts about Shakira's voice register. Because the only singers I felt that are true Contraltos are Diana Ankudinova, Cher, Mercedes Sosa, Annie Lennox, Grace Jones, Amber Bain from The Japanese House, Brazilian Contralto singers, etc. Those are the names I remember at the moment. I feel the musicians experts in voice registers are lying a lot about Contraltos, saying a lot of singers are Contralto when they are lyrical mezzos for example.
