I have only discovered Diana recently and was completely blown away with her performance of "Rechenka" (The River). I have been watching all of her performances over the last few evenings and just amazed by her voice and vocal ability. I have watched many reactors as well and enjoyed watching their reactions. This one is absolutely the best I have seen. The warning at the outset that you were going to talk and react throughout the performance set it up perfectly. Not a word was spoken to interrupt... and after it was over... silence... as there was an obvious struggle to express the mixed feelings fighting within. Because I was already impressed with Diana's vocal ability, and realizing this voice was her choice of expression for this particular song, I found it hilarious to see you struggle to make a comment. As a fellow Canadian I understand the "obligation" to be polite but hope you will check out more of Diana's work and become as impressed with her as I am. "Rechenka" is a great place to start.

She was just 15 years old when she performed this! But her best performance, IMO, was when she was only 14 years old and performed 'Rechenka'. It's in Russian, so if you're going to give it a watch/listen, it'd help to know the story told in the song ... it's from an old traditional folk tale about an orphaned girl who is supposed to marry someone she doesn't love, and she goes down to the river (the border between the living and the dead) to talk to her mother and ask for her advice. It's beautiful and sad and haunting! Diana uses all her talents and skills to give an *amazing* performance! Watch it, and *enjoy*! *BTW* , her name is pronounced: Dee *ah* nah Ahnk oo *din* ohvah I tend to be a stickler about pronouncing names correctly because I grew up with *most* people mis-pronouncing *my* name.

I thought it was a brilliant performance. It was fun to see you quiet and gobsmacked just moments after insisting that you were going to comment right through the song on your reaction video, 'cos it's a reaction-video. Hi Pharaoh - just an observation: things are not always as they appear. When you listen to different songs by Diana, you realise, first that she has unbelievable control over her voice and decided consciously to sing the song in this low register. When you then learn that she was cast into the February cold by a cruel mother as a child, you start to clue into the fact that maybe she had a reason for singing this song the way she did. I'm really surprised to find a reactor that doesn't like Diana Ankudinova. That's quite fine as we all have our own tastes when it comes to music. Thank you for not being rude in your dislike of this young singer, that is very rare to come across in this day and age. I would suggest that you watch and listen to some other videos of Diana singing before you make a final decision on your dislike of her. A little info on her singing style, she is able to sing so low because she sings in what is called a yawn. Her tongue is back and she lowers her larnyx thus giving her that awesome low note quality to her tone. I hope that you give Diana another listen and not judge her singing on this one video. I have read this account of her childhood in a few places. I am not sure how accurate it is. Diana's mother had eight children, Diana was the only child who survived. Her mother severely abused her. She hit her, burned her with cigarettes, and even tried to drown her in a bathtub. Her mother abandoned her when she was three. Diana was found in the winter on the street with a broken collar bone. None of her relatives wanted to take her in because she didn't speak and they thought she was mentally impaired. She was put in an orphanage, and later she was adopted. Haha, damned with faint praise :-) Seriously, though, she may not be to all tastes, and that is a cool thing as otherwise it would be boring, but I like her. Part of that may be down to what one is most familar with, for example, most 'metal' leaves me cold, but many folks like it. I suspect part of the reason she sounds so unusual is a mixture of 'throat singing' - common in some parts of the world - which gives a very low undertone with a lower than expected vocal range. Because I was already impressed with Diana's vocal ability, and realizing this voice was her choice of expression for this particular song, I found it hilarious to see you struggle to make a comment. As a fellow Canadian I understand the "obligation" to be polite but hope you will check out more of Diana's work and become as impressed with her as I am. "Rechenka" is a great place to start.

She was just 15 years old when she performed this! But her best performance, IMO, was
when she was only 14 years old and performed 'Rechenka'. It's in Russian, so if you're
going to give it a watch/listen, it'd help to know the story told in the song ... it's from an
old traditional folk tale about an orphaned girl who is supposed to marry someone she
doesn't love, and she goes down to the river (the border between the living and the dead)
to talk to her mother and ask for her advice. It's beautiful and sad and haunting! Diana
uses all her talents and skills to give an *amazing* performance! Watch it, and *enjoy*!

Hi Pharaoh - just an observation: things are not always as they appear. When you listen to different songs by Diana, you realise, first that she has unbelievable control over her voice and decided consciously to sing the song in this low register. When you then learn that she was cast into the February cold by a cruel mother as a child, you start to clue into the fact that maybe she had a reason for singing this song the way she did. Then you watch her sing 'Vibes' and you wonder if she is even the same person. She is, and what you're seeing is pretty amazing artistic talent

I'm really surprised to find a reactor that doesn't like Diana Ankudinova. That's quite fine as we all have our own tastes when it comes to music. Thank you for not being rude in your dislike of this young singer, that is very rare to come across in this day and age. I would suggest that you watch and listen to some other videos of Diana singing before you make a final decision on your dislike of her.
A little info on her singing style, she is able to sing so low because she sings in what is called a yawn. Her tongue is back and she lowers her larnyx thus giving her that awesome low note quality to her tone. I hope that you give Diana another listen and not judge her singing on this one video. There is a subtext to her performances--the inner demons she has to deal with. I have read this account of her childhood in a few places. I am not sure how accurate it is.
Diana's mother had eight children, Diana was the only child who survived. Her mother severely abused her. She hit her, burned her with cigarettes, and even tried to drown her in a bathtub. Her mother abandoned her when she was three. Diana was found in the winter on the street with a broken collar bone. None of her relatives wanted to take her in because she didn't speak and they thought she was mentally impaired. She was put in an orphanage, and later she was adopted. Diana did not speak for a long time. She was taken to a speech therapist. And she was advised to sing more to develop her speech skills.
Like may creative talents, Diana is harnessing the destructive power of her demons and using it as a creative force. I echo your sentiments and wish her all the best.

I love emotional songs from relative unknowns.
I just discovered a female vocalist on TH-cam that blew my mind and opened my heart. She’s from the small Faroe island and when she gives a performance virtually the whole island of about 600 show up. She has an angelic voice so unique , so mystical , so magical, so entrancing so hauntingly beautiful that if you ( or your subscribers) react ( no one will recommend her so I hope you will react privately ) to the following 4 performances after which you will probably become a fan and want to subscribe to her website where she will inspire you with about 30 more songs ( a mixture of live and MV’s and I guarantee every song will silence your mind and open the floodgates of your heart and soul. ).
Please TH-cam the following 4 live performances ( first 3 from her small island and the last in front of thousands with full orchestra performing for the Queen ).
“Eivor palsdottir trollabundin” ( first vid 5:44). ( from the Faroe Islands and trollabundin meaning ‘spellbound’ and all who watch this amazing.video in her native language will be spellbound.). Wish I was there outdoors sitting with the audience. Great tribal primordial vibes. Atmospheric mesmerizing hypnotic recognizable vocal prowess. The island’s backdrop scenery of mountains and rivers are breathtakingly beautiful and I wish I could book a plane and be sitting with the islanders for the live concert. This was just one of many songs she ( and her band and special guest) performed. Similar to Diana Ankudinova ‘s “ river” performance.
: “ Eivor Palsdottir Wake me Up” ( 7: 11 duration) it’s in English and she kills it with celestial high notes and emotional impact. It’s about her longing to wake up from this earthy dream and reunite with a lover that left her with this heart-wrenching longing.
( and oh boy does her voice scale the ethereal heights). This vocalist has already become in my favorite top 8 female vocalists of all time! Of all time!!! And I just discovered her less than a month ago. How on God’s earth did i ever overlook this world class vocalist. You will love her and her band. Watch the drummer go crazzzyyy.
Eivor “ free falling” ( the one that’s 6:47 duration) You will love her and her band. It’s on the island but inside I believe a restaurant seating capacity ( when the camera panned the audience) probably 300 lucky lucky souls to witnessed this beyond amazing performance. She put it on TH-cam about 3 years ago and very few views and likes. If she performed it in America and there were 50,000 in attendance , all 50,000 would be screaming and yelling for a long time during and after the performance.
The strobe lightening, post production camera work, her otherworldly vocal is beyond belief. At the end she hits notes that are so celestial so mystical so heavenly that even the great Dimash couldn’t execute with the emotional impact and purity that Eivor does. And a band member on drums was really into it! is a sight to behold.
I discovered Eivor less than a month ago. How on God’s earth did i ever overlook this world class vocalist? Watch the drummer go crazzzyyy. My first recommendation ( “ spellbound”) similar to Diana Ankudinova with enchanting tribunal mystical sounds.
But the other 3 recommendations are different in style ( “ Falling Free” and “ Wake me Up” more like symphonic ethereal metal ( a little bit of Nightwish comes to mind). She’s so versatile. She has a website with about 30 more songs ( a mixture of live and MV and most over the course of 5 years got very few responses but all responses were OMG, WOW, NOW MY FAVORITE FEMALE VOCALIST , INCREDIBLE , BEYOND AMAZING .
Excuse my excitement but whenever I discover a new amazing vocalist I can’t control my emotions.
I was one of the very first to discover and highly recommend (before the masses reacted to): Morissette, Daryl Ong, Dimash, ( best pop-op vocalist in the world), Diana Ankudinova, , Park Hyoshin ( best ballad vocalist in the world) , Park Ki Young ( one of the best female vocalists.. as good as or better than So Hyang ), Forestella ( best male vocal harmony group in the world). Lara Fabian...
One more: ( the only one I know with a full orchestra :)
Finally: “Evior may it be “ ( Lord of the Rings) in front of thousands with full orchestra and the Queen of Denmark! incredible, mystical, celestial , will transport you to a higher realm).
Again, no one will recommend but if by chance you have a few spare moments please react privately.

Seriously, though, she may not be to all tastes, and that is a cool thing as otherwise it would be boring, but I like her. Part of that may be down to what one is most familar with, for example, most 'metal' leaves me cold, but many folks like it.
I suspect part of the reason she sounds so unusual is a mixture of 'throat singing' - common in some parts of the world - which gives a very low undertone with a lower than expected vocal range.
