How to fix apple carplay volume issue? When you are in carplay mode we cannot adjust the volume with the vol knob or from phone. I usually ask Siri to lower the volume. Then the volume adjustment will work.

Unfortunately, there are too many programmers who enter the world of design and programming with no true idea of what can be considered "user friendly". Why in the world would a programmer design a system that takes away the functionality of the device that is initiating the app, in this case the phone? First rule of any design is to turn the system/product over to your parents. They'll quickly tell you the problems. The user interface of my Toyota Sienna (2020) appears to have been designed by a programmer with a 3rd grade education, and no concept of what is "user friendly". As a side issue, the need to connect my phone, which has bluetooth capability, to my automobile's computer system via a cable is ridiculous.
My 2017 Highlander Limited: Navigation prompt voice volume seems to be set at "7" (the loudest)...yet is way too quiet. When I'm Bluetoothing music from my iphone 13 thru the system, the nav prompts are WAY too soft...even when it temporarily mutes the music.
Hey Steve that doesn’t answer the question. The question is Music will not mute when voice prompts on navigation. Even if I have the volume up just a little bit more I cannot understand the voice prompts.
My difficult is if I raise the volume while navigation is speaking, then when I return to music the music is too loud. I then lower the volume for the music and I can hardly hear the navigation. My only way to comfortably have the volume for navigation is to turn pause my music. 🥴. Hope I’m missing something and there is a fix around this. I should mention I’m using my Google maps on iPhone connected by Bluetooth to the car. During calls I have the option to increase the call volume without affecting the music volume when the call ends. 😉🤔 Thanks for any help.
Do you know why voice command button on 2023 sienna does not work for carplay or android auto? When i press voice command on steering wheel, all it does is activate the toyota command not the phone' (eg google)
But my problem in my yaris hybrid I use waze. No sound at all on the navigation map. The route is ok but silent 😂 what is wrong it is a brand new car. Are there specific settings for. I have an Iphone 13 plugged in. Thanks by forehand. Ninne belgium

Hi Steve - my challenge, along with lots of other peeps w/ the 2021 Sienna, is the ** APPLE CAR PLAY** (such as when the phone rings, WAZE starts talking, text msg tone, etc.) being too long when my iPhone is attached and Apple Car Play goes off - it is SO loud - and it does not matter if the volume on the phone is turned all of the way to the lowest volume setting on the phone and that the volume settings on the Sienna are set to low. Can you try this with your phone plugged in and see what you’re getting? Thanks so much for all of these great videos!!! My husband and I were visiting Nashville in December, staying close to your dealership and you actually walked by us one day on the sidewalk - I wanted to say hello but didn’t want to be one of ‘those’ people! LOL!
Can you please help me. I took my car in for an oil change and when I got it back the voice command goes off randomly every minute almost. I am in my car for hours at a time and it is driving me insane.
sometimes the easiest answer is cause it's not. Sometimes toyota just offers different ootions on different vehicles often times without a specific reason just that its the way they want to do it. there are some ways you can build a vehicle on the website that there is 0% chance of Toyota building it in that configuration. Why? Cause they dont build it that way is the very best answer i can give.
Its utterly PREPOSTEROUS ...the complexity that this gadgetry is adding to cars. FAR to complicated...and DANGEROUSLY DISTRACTING. I'm going to stick to old bombs from 10-12 years ago. What an utter PITA

It does not mute it just speaks over it at different volumes

Toyota for safety does not allow a mirror cast to the factory system. I would assume Lexus is the same
