    Shop Pre-Owned Cartier Watches: www.exquisitet...
Cartier watches have always been a respected brand within the watch community, but in the last several years they have exploded in popularity. This explosion in popularity draws parallels to that of other prestigious brands such as Rolex and Patek Philippe. It’s clear to see the similarities in quality and popularity, but how about the investment potential? Do Cartier watches appreciate in value?
Let’s take a closer look at some iconic models from Cartier, including the Cartier Santos and the Cartier Tank, to see how well they retain their value. In this video, we will look at new and pre-owned examples and will even investigate some examples that might cross the threshold into investment-grade pieces.

@@VitalyMack of course! I prefer not to buy if I can't get them bnew. Even if they lose value out the showroom. That's why I am not concerned about getting zenith and JLC bnew. Bec the important thing is satisfaction since it is a non essential item.

Funnily Cartier is often not considered as a watch manufacture as it is true that in it's origin they used third party calibers (jl, fp...), but not Rolex...which also has never been a manufacture as it's born as an assembler of third party parts up until the 2000's... so?😄

The Santos Watch in this video is not the large variant at 39.5 mm. It is actually the medium variant at 35.1mm. The large has a date. The medium doesn't. I have this watch. Other then that good video.

No. But watches that fall off a cliff in value certainly make for secondary market used bargains. If you must buy new then you get the full guarantee and know the day 1 history of the watch and that it’s genuine and not stolen. But you will take a large hit if you don’t get on with the piece and end up selling.

Some are still up in value. But examples would me a omega seamaster 300 if you bought it new it’s not worth what you paid. And even a brand new Rolex just date sells used for less the msrp. So it’s cheaper used. The prices have come down a lot. But some are still over retail. I make it a point to not pay more for something used then it cost new in the same model year. If I wanted a used Rolex just date I would want it a few thousand under msrp or I would just want the market comes down more. Or just buy a Tudor or omega. Then I can get a watch now and buy the Rolex when it comes back down.

The Cartier Santos is an iconic beautiful but I would not buy one. Why? Because the Santos is extremely scratch prone, especially on the high polished bezel. Cartier knows about this flaw and refuses to fix it, meanwhile, TH-camrs keep making excuses for the flawed and subpar metal casing. Silver colored watches, such as stainless steel and titanium, are the defacto metal of choice. Why, in 2024, aren't manufacturers making "scratch-proof" watches? There are PVD coatings and nomenclatures like 316L steel, super titanium, TinSkin 3.0, and platinum encasements. A company as profitable and well funded as Cartier has no excuse for making watches that are scratch prone. Invest a little R&D and fix this problem. It's not just a Cartier problem, but most luxury watchmakers don't put in the effort to ensure their watches are "scratch-proof" or as scratch resistant as possible. It's a shame. For this reason alone I would never buy a Cartier Santos. Profits above all. So what are the most scratch resistant metals? Tegiment steel and UltraHex titanium.

But new cartier like any other luxury brand are too expensive, more expensive is better for rich buyer who buy something only for his high price, they dont care the real value they just want something that comun people canot buy for feel superiorr..only vanity

Funny how the Rolex Submariner has become one of the few watches that go uP in value one purchased. And it doesn't look like Rolex is doing anthing to stop this by making more Submariners to lessen the demand.
It DOeS give one a good feeling having spent $21k CAD on one an to know it's appreciating in value. NO one likes the feeling of spending so much money and LOSING money/vlue no matter the product...good news for most real estate continues to be the best investment for most people...rare for something to happen to change tghat e.g. scrap yard oping up next door. ..
Maybe the question is...Would or should we buy a expensive watch only for investment?? Most people do not. unless we can buy "1 OF ____"... LTD ED...Most buy watches that "speak to us".....the value is usualy in the memories associated , was it a gift from someone special to us??

You get an 8 year warranty and service, and you don't have to pay a jeweler to open it up and make sure it's not a frankin or that it hasn't been serviced in a decade...plus I got another bracelet thrown in. So walking out of the store and getting hit by 1.2k is very reasonable.

Thats the main point people dont understand if you buy a cartier a gm price it will hold its value very nice plus models like santos will even appreciate a little maybe even 2-3% more than inflation but these are definitely not good investments however at the same time they are good store of value since you are not losing money to inflation
