My parents bought me a Santos stainless steel & gold for my 21st birthday..................in 1985, and it is still on my wrist every day, I even go to bed with it on. I have had it serviced every 5 years or so. Last year it had a major service, added a link, replaced the face which had gotton a bit discoloured, and had a new side knob as the stone was chipped. I love it and I am sure it will see me out.
I have a Santos De Cartier large in stainless steel and I love it. It gets more wrist time than my Rolex, Breguet and Omega combined. A very underrated Watch.
Great job taking us back in time to the environment Cartier was started... This was really cool. And although you quickly mention the Santos had a Jaeger movement... You could have quickly let us know what that means. I'm learning about all this...
Just aquired a Santos-dumont from George a few months back and nice to e-meet you Elizabeth. Seriously, need to plug Oliver Smith. My experience with George was pehenomenal and pure class. Love the vid!
Might be the greatest watch ever. I can’t think of anything I like better. From the square dial, to the interchangeable straps/bracelet, to the history/story, to the fact it just looks like pure class and goes with anything. Perfect one watch collection, perfect addition to any collection, the absolute perfect watch. Please, if you can think of a better watch, for the money, as versatile, please let me know. 🙏 I’d love to know more options like this one.
A college student here, despite my age, I consider my self an “old soul”, I just like vintage watches. Currently own 3 santos, the 2018 medium two tone, the original 1978 two tone 2961, and the 1981 24mm ladies two tone( I have 6.25in wrist) the size is perfect for my small wrist. The elegance and unique atheistic about those watches can’t be beaten. Santos is really like the Colt 1911 and Porsche 911 of the watch world, rich in history and still popular today. In one word, it’s purely Timeless❤
Being a collector of watches and Colt 1911s, I totally get your point. I picked up a used white dial Santos large and am amazed of how dressy/elegant it is with a black alligator strap and how very casual/classy it is with the steel braclet all at once. I own multiple rolexes and other high end Swiss watches, but none of them do it all as well as the steel Large Santos with the silvered opaline dial. Cheers and good luck with your future endeavors.
I've owned the Santos with the ADLC coating for about 7 months now and I can honestly say its my favorite watch to wear in my collection. My question is who makes your matching bracelets in this video. Very cool!
Thanks! These are the OSJ leather Balboa bracelets, you can find them on our website here: www.oliversmithjeweler.com/oliver-smith-sterling-silver-collection
Elizabeth, not sure if this is your first vid since getting married, and congratulations! Did Mr. #1 surprise you with the diamond ring on your hand, or did you have some input? It is stunning!
I bought a watch from MAMACOO lightly used for my last milestone birthday. Don't wear it as much as it deserves, but not afraid to, either. It's stunning . Good taste, Sir.
Good! Because I watched the whole video and still not having this answer. But I’m my opinion it is a great watch specially a good option when you buy used.
To me the "Santos Du Mont", Automatic in gold and steel, IS the Iconic watch. Elegant yet not ostentatious, timeless, at home in any situation. A little like the Porsche 911 perhaps, in that too is a classic design that has refused to die or be replaced. "If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it" !! LOL
it is a beautiful watch but does not hold value!!!!I paid $8,455 and was selling it for $7400 a lost of $1000 plus nobody is interested some grey market store offered $5,400 only the watch is only 6 months old and not used
The older Santos versions has value and are very elegant. The newer versions are not stable in value and in my opinion Cartier has lost its prestige with the ugly latest Santos versions and a lot of other models
Don't you think that minimum wage should quadrupedal before anyone else making more gets a cent more, and that the wealthy should be taxed at the same rate as the poor?

Appreciate the comment, we'll make sure to pass it along to the team
My first big boy watch I bought for myself was a santos skeleton. Still to this day it's my favorite watch. Beauty.😁
Now George is jealous!
I bought the medium two tone as my first luxury watch & I love it!
Good choice!
Well this is the best watch content I’ve found on TH-cam by a considerable margin

OMG. I was thinking why I haven’t seen you guys review this watch. I am swoon with the two-tone medium.
Good call!
I was able to pick up the all yellow gold Large model earlier this year, and it's been fantastic.
Congratulations! You'll love it for years to come

Now that is a Santos lineup!
You're not an old soul, you fool; you're just rich lol
What type of college student has money to buy 3 5k watches 😂

Are you a rich student?
Own the ADLC, purchased at Oliver Smith. The wearability of the piece is up there with the best and the quick-change spoils you.
We agree once you get use to a quick release it's hard to go back!

@@WatchesbyOliverSmithJeweler Thanks!
As usual, great presentation.
We appreciate you following along!
A very enjoyable episode. While I personally prefer the Tank, I learned a great deal about the origins of the Santos today.
Both great watches! Thanks for tuning in
Nice informative video on the history of the Santos
We appreciate you tuning in!
Just purchased a vintage/naked Cartier Santos Carree "Or Massif" - floating on cloud 9 when I wear it..
Elizabeth, not sure if this is your first vid since getting married, and congratulations! Did Mr. #1 surprise you with the diamond ring on your hand, or did you have some input? It is stunning!
Great review of the first pilots watch!
Thanks Shawn!

Pardon me but you never said that the bezel scratches easily... still a beautiful watch
I have purchased two Cartier watches from Oliver Smith. IMHO you're the best.
Thank you for the comment, it makes our day to hear it!
What size is Elizabeth wearing please? Also, curious what size George’s is
I like the XL if they still make it ,it’s a classy watch ,thanks guys
Thanks Charlie!
Just subscribed. Can't wait to purchase.
Great call!
Exerything I need to know, except why I should buy one.
Marvellous watch history 👍
What size is George’s watch and how is the bezel holding up?
Missed the opportunity to discuss the difference between the Carree and Galbee variants, nonetheless this was a fun and informative video. Thanks!
good point but nice job on the video, as you said.
Tank is the most significant watch in Cartier's catalog.
All dat AMZWATCH watches sssssoooooooo gorgeous!
I also like the XL Roadster if they still make it , thanks
The Roadster is a great watch. Unfortunately not in Cartier's current line-up but we're holding out hope that there will be a re-release!
Short answer: Yes
Long answer: Also yes
i love the san-tohs dumont
You did miss talking about the movement
New friend here sending may full suppor AMZWATCH 's watch,Worth
Yes.
I don’t have to watch the video…the answer is yes
Good! Because I watched the whole video and still not having this answer. But I’m my opinion it is a great watch specially a good option when you buy used.

It seems to lose value quicker in the US than elsewhere.
All watches and jewelry lose value
will they last the next 20 years?
Theyll last lifetime, if you take care of it, just like anything else
Real question is how
Beautiful design but:
No screw down crown
No 904L steel
Not chronometer certified
No silicon escapement
There were hot air balloons!
Yes but talking about heavier-than-air flight.
The older Santos versions has value and are very elegant.
The newer versions are not stable in value and in my opinion Cartier has lost its prestige with the ugly latest Santos versions and a lot of other models

Missing watch😂
why all Cartier Santos videos start with the boring history? Go to the core topic straight
True. If you’re a watch collector then you’ve already heard the history at least a dozen times and probably much more.
TH-cam censors? Why did you delete my comment?

What do you think of this model w3sa0007 trying to get it for my wife 40th
