I saw a post about the tragic events of the Pulse Nightclub shooting and let's just say, my blood started to boil as a lot of replies were in celebration to the shooters and just saying horrible things like that they were glad that the people at the nightclub got shot dead, not knowing that it wasn't just gay people that got shot there but heterosexual people who had gay friends there and who just wanted to have a nice time, so yeah I was angry with the comments praising the shooters as no one should have to have their lives taken away from them just because of their sexuality

It really isn't - most homophobes are straight who have inherited bigoted ideas from their family/culture - it's a bit like saying most racists are Black. Internalised homophobia is very real however and is a product of heteronormative narratives being shoved down everyone's throats from birth. Thankfully the increased LGBT representation in media and more people being out has challenged preconceived notions of what it is to be gay.

It's amazing how "Christians" use scripture to justify acting as God's hand of judgement and forget that for an unbeliever there is no mandate to act from God. It says to turn away from sin, it doesn't say that you have a divine right to pass judgement on another. Judge not, lest you be judged. Get off your soapbox and preach in church. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.

@@emilfrederiksen.1622 the Bible has been notoriously known to be poorly translated. Considering English is not an old language at all, it probably has been through hundreds of translations if not thousands over the last 2000 years. Some of those times being even orally and scribed into text. Makes total sense that the Bible isnt word for word of what some Godly figure or Holy Spirit is morally guided by.

I remember watching this episode the first time. The reverend infuriated me, but wisdom with age (or maybe it's just apathy) people like him, it just saddens me to see someone poison themselves willingly. Anyone who pays attention to scripture would know that the prime takeaway from those stories is love. Love yourself and give others the same love you wish to receive.

Cheering at the funeral of a six year old kid who died of AIDS?! The hell is wrong with people? 😡 (I know this is fictional, but I'm guessing that's based on something that actually happened.) The AIDS crisis was sad all round. I read an article written by a gay man who lost most of his friends to this disease. Then you had people being infected by contaminated blood transfusions, another layer of tragedy. It did scare people, my mum grew up in the 80s and has talked about it. It's less of a death sentence these days, thankfully, it can be controlled.

I think alot of people still view HIV and AIDS as a gay disease because of how a lot of gay men died of it back during the 80s but we've come a long way since then to know that HIV and AIDS can be contracted by anyone no matter the sexuality or gender and then we have medication that can allow men and women who have HIV to live long healthy lives and start families, I know we aren't nowhere near a cure, unless you count the stem cell treatment that had cured about 3-4 people with HIV but that was for something else HIV caused them, we shouldn't allow HIV and AIDs to be a stigma anymore but hopefully one day soon, the scientists find a cure for HIV and AIDs so they can mass produce it and give to people who have contracted the virus first time as well as people who have lived with it for decades even if the meds have helped them live healthy lives

For anyone trying to say the Bible says exactly what was preached you’d be incorrect. Edited versions were changed to say this but reading older versions of the Bible it in fact does not. Not only that English Christians were known to have not know how to translate the Bible well and words and sentences are not true to the original Bible.
