    It's fascinating to see what is actually behind the dashboard etc.

    That top dashboard panel is a known source of rattles on the ID3 and the Cupra Born. Basically on poorer road surface the panel can resonate as there is a small amount of play in the clips. For anyone who has that issue (which can come and go depending on temperature) placing compressible self-adhesive foam tape between the clips can solve it.

    I wonder Paul, how many people realise just how difficult it is when you are right handed, holding the camera and using a screwdriver with your left to undo screws and bolts. Well done for getting the dashboard out and giving us an insight into how it fits together. Looking forward to the battery removal.

      He's using a head cam

      @bikeman, don't think so, just from looking at the camera angles. The impression is that it's a handheld camera.

    Am I the only one worried that the car might get stripped away into nothingness.😊
    Keep going Paul, hope you get to start the rebuild soon.

    I have every confidence in you Paul. You never lose your cool and don’t seemed to be ever fazed by the daunting task ahead. Keep it up and I am sure your wife’s going to get a really great car soon. One you have been over with a fine tooth comb literally😂. Guess the TT has gone be lovely to know where that went in the country and if they saw the video of what you did. Be lovely to have a video of them saying how they got on with the car.

    Excellent progress Paul. Very impressed.
    Watching your videos I am learning about my own car and for instance how to fit a dash cam and route the wiring.

    Just goes to show the cars today are designed for ease of assembly, click on and move on to the next one coming down the line. I recall Honda in Swindon completed the Civic every 2 mins I think. (Correct me if I’m wrong)

    This would make for much easier watching if the camera wasn’t bouncing around all over the place.
    Definitely an argument to set a tripod up and leave it recording whilst you do what you need, and only cutting in to explain but not work. It’d also be easier for you as you’d have two hands to work with.

    Love the content and your videos in general Paul. The plastics in that VW look very poor quality compared to a Golf and Seat Leon, even the the genuine floor mat has worn through.

    So how do you get VW manuals do you subscribe for them?

    • @leepower2717
      @leepower2717 ปีที่แล้ว

      Under EU laws, all vehicle manufacturers must provide access to service / repair manuals so aftermarket garages / home mechanics can view them for information if they wish. You normally have to set up a free online account to the individual manufacturers technical portal but access to stuff like the workshop repair manuals has a small charge. The manufacturers charge access by the time period, one hour is usually the minimum.

      It's basically just a big mechanical jigsaw, replace or repair components where required & put it back together again. IIRC this one is going to be a keeper so it's resale value isn't to important, it's still nice to keep the total project repair costs as low as possible.
