You can keep the car on indefinitely with a 35 lb kettlebell in the drivers seat and the seat buckle fastened.

Great video. I’m waiting for my ID.4 but looking forward to trying it for car camping. The downside I see with the Dreamcase is that there’s no built in feature for leveling it. You can of course level the whole car but that’s a huge pain. Also it would help for cars with seats that don’t fold 100% flat. I don’t see a huge benefit over my cheaper folding mattress.
One of the main benefits of a DreamCase is exactly that... The case in which the mattress is stored serves as a height prop to level up the resting surface. It also has a couch mode, quick pack mode and a headrest support so you can get those extra few centimeters stretching all the way to the front seats (if you don't have that u can stretch only to the end of th back seats).
and what is with the rod props to hold up the hood???? how about using those gas springs! there so nice!!!
You convinced me to wait for the id buzz - not enough room for boondocking in this EV.
As per USB not charging... you would need 65w or 100w USB C and currently per cost is several hundred % more than a standard 2.5a USB-C connector. When you add that up over 1.5 million ID 4 you can see that would add up a lot to VW. Maybe they will add that as an option/upgrade on future models.

The front usb c are slow charging but the rear 2 type c are fast charging ones
Camp mode and dog mode are crucial... the have ota updates ...it arrived in our Tesla like that
Crucial if you can afford it. you have to remember this car is ALOT cheaper than ANY tesla. So dogs are not really in their consideration

07:30 no camp mode is for me a ko criteria.
with ioniq 5 and kia ev 6.. you can charge your laptop and cooking coffee with V2L ..
My ID 4 will automatically shot down after 30 minutes without sitting on the driving seat. Hoping to get camp mode via OTA

The "hack" should be to put heavy luggage on the driver's seat and to click on the seatbelt.
it still shuts off. maybe if you leave it in drive but put the emergency brake on? and if you can control the heat with the app maybe you can just use the app if you wake up too cold. seems easier than climbing all around the vehicle. but his hack worked, so that's an okay solution.
It shuts off if there’s less than 35 pounds on the front seat..

it kills me that we cannot test drive one of these things. Now I have to buy a car based on hearsay. We spend a lifetime learning to listen critically. Now we have to suspend critical thinking and believe what we are hearing from people who will make money from our decision, good or bad. Although, it helps, in the case of Tesla that so many people have so many positive things to say.
Can you sleep in vw? Has it camp mode? Its risky business i think. Not after diesel gate, you can trust this company.
