Great video. I’m waiting for my ID.4 but looking forward to trying it for car camping. The downside I see with the Dreamcase is that there’s no built in feature for leveling it. You can of course level the whole car but that’s a huge pain. Also it would help for cars with seats that don’t fold 100% flat. I don’t see a huge benefit over my cheaper folding mattress.
One of the main benefits of a DreamCase is exactly that... The case in which the mattress is stored serves as a height prop to level up the resting surface. It also has a couch mode, quick pack mode and a headrest support so you can get those extra few centimeters stretching all the way to the front seats (if you don't have that u can stretch only to the end of th back seats).
@@user-gf7zx8xr6x you are probably right about id4. But with ID California in the pipeline it’s another comparison. It will be a camper and the price will be the same range.
Joel is about 1.95 cm, one of the advantages with the DreamCase is the frontal support, as it prolongs the mattress area and people up to 2.05 cm can sleep in their car. There is a trick to leave a 8 cm gap for pillows towards the front seats, as it makes the bed even longer.
Thanks. One question: Did he just set the stat. air con for the night (two times)? Or did he leave the ignition on? One has to? Does the stat. air con also work without the ignition, I think so! Because in the morning the car was turned on.
Not sure, but think I remember the car has a timer, so you set it two times to cover the night, so it runs all night. It does not have a dedicated Camp Mode, but you can set the timer and create one! I hope this is helpful!
As per USB not charging... you would need 65w or 100w USB C and currently per cost is several hundred % more than a standard 2.5a USB-C connector. When you add that up over 1.5 million ID 4 you can see that would add up a lot to VW. Maybe they will add that as an option/upgrade on future models.
The trunk is about 100 cm and a few wide, the seat area has more space. More space than a standard single bed, but not much. Decide for yourself if that fits 2 people - you better like each other well ;)
it still shuts off. maybe if you leave it in drive but put the emergency brake on? and if you can control the heat with the app maybe you can just use the app if you wake up too cold. seems easier than climbing all around the vehicle. but his hack worked, so that's an okay solution.
If you look under the driver's seat, you can see the seat occupancy sensor. If you insert a wedge about two centimeters thick between the sensor and the underside of the seat, you can save yourself the weight on the driver's seat. If you now unlock the hood, maintenance mode is activated and the vehicle no longer switches off. The heater can be operated for as long as required.
Good to know. I'd use an insulated sleeping pad and a zero or -15 degree sleeping bag with a good liner and an inflatable down pillow with a sleeping mask and noise cancelling ear protection.
Same. Been camping/tenting in -25 degrees while ski touring. Good winter camping gear and you don't need to worry about the heating or battery charge. I would skip on the sleeping mask and ear protection though, but this depends on where you stand.
it kills me that we cannot test drive one of these things. Now I have to buy a car based on hearsay. We spend a lifetime learning to listen critically. Now we have to suspend critical thinking and believe what we are hearing from people who will make money from our decision, good or bad. Although, it helps, in the case of Tesla that so many people have so many positive things to say.
You can keep the car on indefinitely with a 35 lb kettlebell in the drivers seat and the seat buckle fastened.
Like your video! I have 2022 vw id4 pro s and I am ready to go camping after I watched your video. Thanks!
Thanks for the video man! Appreciate it. God bless you
Great video, thanks bro 👌🏼
Great video man I want this bed contraption!!!
The front usb c are slow charging but the rear 2 type c are fast charging ones
Nice camping.
07:30 no camp mode is for me a ko criteria.
That is so cool! don't plan to ever camp again and never slept in my car, but this is awesome
How does it handle the step in the 2024 ID.4 trunk? Does the case in butterfly mode fit the specific car dimensions?
My ID 4 will automatically shot down after 30 minutes without sitting on the driving seat. Hoping to get camp mode via OTA
30lb weight in seat
no, it doesn't work. I updated the software by a third-party technician and now it can keep power on!@@jaredp17
Where did you get the mattress?
You convinced me to wait for the id buzz - not enough room for boondocking in this EV.
great video..thank you

Sad no camping mode such as RAV4 prime and Tesla
and what is with the rod props to hold up the hood???? how about using those gas springs! there so nice!!!
Camp mode and dog mode are crucial... the have ota updates ...it arrived in our Tesla like that
Crucial if you can afford it. you have to remember this car is ALOT cheaper than ANY tesla. So dogs are not really in their consideration

How tall are you. Greetings.

Is there place for 2 people? What are the space measures?

The "hack" should be to put heavy luggage on the driver's seat and to click on the seatbelt.

It shuts off if there’s less than 35 pounds on the front seat..
I wish volkswagen adds camp mode later. Stupid to leave it out from a car like this

with ioniq 5 and kia ev 6.. you can charge your laptop and cooking coffee with V2L ..

Cool but no
Blow up mattress and a topper is cheaper and better.
How about staying in a nice hotel or cabin somewhere? 😂
Why go out at all and not just stay at home?
Heat pump or standard resistance heater?
It's a car not a campervan?
Lil bro It would be better if they put camp mode in just like tesla did, i like sleeping in the car when waiting for another school class
you were charging the laptop with the car, so you also used some electricity there....

Try id 6
what a reliable technology😂
Can you sleep in vw? Has it camp mode? Its risky business i think. Not after diesel gate, you can trust this company.
dangerous when oxygen runs out. better make sure outside air working while sleep
This is not a Tesla, there will be no storage in the front😂 how simple and unintelligent these cars are compared to Tesla
Tesla is far from the only one having front storage/frunks...
@ yes, but you can only put the charging cable in them. They are tiny.
