    as an 86years old with many years of engineering experience and a love of cars I view all your videos with great interest,especially this one ,however I feel I must query why you left the crashbar damaged when a small effort could have straightened it and made it look respectable without the need for a replacement,even at my age I could not have left it in that condition

    Paul, why on earth have you left that support channel damaged? At the least straighten it and give it a little squirt with a rattle can!

  • @newkidd9129
    @newkidd9129 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You really need to straigthen the crash bar! It might be acceptable to you, but don't forget you'll be selling this car on at some stage.
    Why would you not straighten it? It's such an easy thing to do.

  • @bikeman123
    @bikeman123 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You can't really get scammed as a buyer on ebay since if it doesnt work or not as described, ebay always side with the buyer. Selling on your unwanted items is way more risky.

  • @4thegood
    @4thegood ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Please straighten or cut and weld a replacement bar as it is spoiling the good work you are doing.

  • @dongraham1559
    @dongraham1559 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Sorry Paul, but I just couldn't have left that crash bar looking like that, at least I would have attempted to straighten it. The idea is to make crash damaged cars look as if they've never been damaged, just as salvage rebuilds do.

    • @Pete1975
      @Pete1975 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same here it’s a straight forward tweak, salvage rebuilds are on another level though. I do enjoy pauls videos though he’s very knowledgeable and a likeable chap.

    Paul please get a decent tripod. Your camera work is shaky as hell. You don’t have to hold camera and explain,just put the camera on the tripod and use both hands to explain what you’re doing. Just some constructive criticism mate. Please don’t take offence

  • @MrPabsUk
    @MrPabsUk ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Why to ebay sellers do that? Its not something you can "get away with", if its from a salvage car that's been crashed,, its pretty much guaranteed its gonna be blown, they should know this, & at least test it before advertising it. As you say, can you imagine the fury if you`d fitted it THEN found out it was knackered? They could give you 100% refund, but that doesnt make up for the wasted time & work... You should name & shame them.

  • @dieseldog289
    @dieseldog289 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Great video Paul! Sorry to hear you’ve been scammed buddy! Hopefully you’ll get refund etc. hope
    You’re okay tho you didn’t seem yourself mate! I can’t imagine coping with these issues and trying to make videos is easy. Take it steady bud

  • @alancobbin
    @alancobbin ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It definitely pays to test all used parts bought online before fitting,Nice one Paul 👍💪😉

  • @bikeman123
    @bikeman123 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    23:00 seems obvious that a salvaged pyro fuse would also be blown. Also I doubt that salvage sellers even have the capability to test the parts they sell. Look on the bright side, its also cost them time and postage.

    Could you do me a favour? I need the resistance between the PP and earth and CP and earth of the charging socket. (Smaller pins at the top are pp and CP, earth is the middle one on next row) I'm using some VW parts in my EV conversion project. Thanks.
    Loving the VW content, I'm all for DIY repairs

  • @adriansmith1410
    @adriansmith1410 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Got a friend at vw he said the cars they make now are totally crap and looking at that I agree they don't make things to last now days in a so called sostianable society it's really against what we all want the Germans have lost the plot😂

  • @CalumLawson
    @CalumLawson ปีที่แล้ว

    Assuming that it's from a dismantler, if they are happy to refund it's probably just a case that it's easier and quicker for them to ship untested and deal with the refunds as and when they get told that the part has failed.
    Frustrating for you as it slows you down, but better for them as they removed the parts and sell them quicker.
    I don't think I could knowingly keep that bent crash bar, even if it is a non structural section. It would bug me knowing that it was like that underneath.

  • @dazzypops
    @dazzypops ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video and progress is looking really good! I know if it was my mrs, I'd get the crash bar at least straightened for peace of mind. It's designed to take an impact and if it's pre-bent surely this would degrade it's effectiveness? Perhaps it doesn't and I'm talking waffles. It looks like a fair bit you do requires two hands - have you got a tripod you could mount your camera to, it would certainly make a fair bit of what you do significantly easier to do 😊

    .... Hi Paul, I think my comment got deleted from a few weeks ago (maybe i included a link?) - or more likely my 10 year old has taken over my account, so who knows how things work!, the pyro blows after 20 seconds, if the airbags go off, a polish lady (teacher) in Hemel Hampsted will sort you out for £200, ..... but she needs the old one 😲😲
