I really appreciate you for doing this. You’re definitely the first to review it since I haven’t seen anyone on TH-cam or Reddit test or shoot some images with the lens so others can get an idea of what they look like on a Leica body.

Good work! I also have a Zeiss 50 f2 Plannar ZM and it's a fantastic lens too.

Great video, thanks for making this! I am trying to decide between the Funleader G45 and the Zeiss 50mm f2 Planar ZM for my Leica M6. The Planar is significantly cheaper, but do you think the Funleader G45 is better/worth the extra money? Would really appreciate any thoughts you have between these two lenses!

Does the rehoused G45 stop or goes pass the infinity mark?

This planar is the only true challenger to the pre-apo asph summicron IMO. Absolutely gorgeous

Thank you for this interesting review -- I had not heard of the Funleader modification. I'm very happy shooting my Contax G lenses on my Sony A7r with a Kipon manual focus adapter, and see that there is an equivalent adapter for the Leica L mount as well along with a number of other mounts. So shooting the Contax G lenses on a Leica SL or any of the other numerous cameras for which adapters are available is another possibility which does not require such dramatic modification of the original lens. Thanks again for the interesting and informative review!

You just made my day. I am struggling between this Funleader G45 and a Summicron DR. The thing is I have the chance to get a Summicron DR (no googles) for half the price of the G45. I guess I am going after the Summicron.

I’m glad it’s helpful. But do keep in mind the summicron in the video is a v5 anniversary edition not rigid/dr, which have about equal center sharpness but way worse edge performance.

@@JimmyCheng I see thank you! So the G45 is still a great contender

    • @JimmyCheng

@@justcallmesando it has always been. I remember back in the days it’s the sharpest 45-50 lens available. But if I were you, I would stick with Leica for that smooth operation.

Shame about the focusing action being rough (wonder if grease would help) but the lens sure looks beautiful! Do you still have it?

Yes I do. I’ve swapped for a silver one actually.

Great video! I am so close to pulling the trigger on my first Leica (Leica M6 TTL 0.85), and I'm currently considering what lens I would buy as my first lens. The Contax G45 M-mount is incredibly tempting. Let me know if you have any other recommendations in the 50-90mm range!

vm 50 1.2 nokton is probably the most versatile and best price to performance ratio.

If you are only thinking about value for money, funleader G35 is the much better option comparing summicron 35V4. And the Funleader G35 is also having the focusing tab which G45 one does not.

Interesting review… just a shame it doesn’t have a focus tab…otherwise I would have bought

    所以我覺得。蔡司鏡同法國鏡。都係我首選👍👍而後者一定好過leica 😅😂

I still prefer the rigid Summicron with 10 aperture blades. These look rather rough in comparison.
