    Thanks for this video. You are the only one who has compared the two to my knowledge. My road king came with the windsplitter. It works. Minimal wind buffetting. I'm 5'9". Love the look of the road warrior, but after your review I'm not sure I can justify the cost. I'll just hit the chrome with some black rustoleum.

    I have the windsplitter and ended up powdercoating the hardware black. It is a good screen for me with little / no buffeting and looks good with my mods. Good vid man!

      It does look good with your bike and your mods. I liked it on my bike also but I’m going for a slightly different look than you so the faring fits my style. Thank you!

    Thanks for the video mate, glad to finally get some feedback on TH-cam about the Harley wind-splitter, I have it coming for my road king special, but yes the brackets are definitely getting painted

      Overall it’s a good shield and I liked it functionally...just didn’t fit with the direction I’m headed with my bike! If your tall you may get some buffering.

      @@rtbt8185 The faring isn’t going to eliminate all the wind. You might need to get some different shield sizes to find what works best for you.

    I got H-D Wind Splitter & love it. It’s on my 2016 Softail FLSS. I Powdercoatings the brackets glossy black and it was under $20.. Here in SoCal Inland empire. The H-D splitter looks more gangster to me! Anyways that look I like! Every time I go to a bike show I get Alot compliments on my windshield. To each their own! Ride safe bro..

      Gotta ride your ride Brother. It’s what I love most about motorcycling is that we get to make our bikes reflect our own personal style and tastes. The wind splitter is a good shield just not the look I was ultimately going for! Take care. Ride safe.

    • @kidmoto22
      @kidmoto22  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carolina Rider I have to say that it depends on if your taller in the body or legs. My legs are a bit longer so it’s not too bad...I’ll get the 17” shield for longer trips but the 15” that I currently use is perfect for my riding. There is wind buffering with both the faring and the wind splitter.

      Also depends on where the buffeting airflow is coming from. I've been fighting an updraft between my legs and the tank, loud as hell and shakes my helmet and glasses.

    As the new owner of the old windsplitter windshield (aka the cat box) I can say without a doubt not as good functionally as my stock 21" on my FLHP RK. I'm only 6'1" and I use a Mustang seat that has me sitting a couple inches higher than normal. The winsplitter causes a lot of helmet buffeting to the point I will have a stick neck and a migrane the following day. The windsplitter pushes the wind right under my chin which just grabs a hold of my helmet even with face shield down, I don't care for having the shield down unless it's raining or cold, feels confining. With the help of @Being Here Now, with Percy I've added an extension which moves the air up to the top of the helmet where my main vent is. That is optimal functionally but asthetically it does take a bit of a hit. My stock 21" windshield works great, no buffeting ever but really makes the bike look like a true police bike.

    • @kidmoto22
      @kidmoto22  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jay...Truly sucks that the shield didn’t work out for you and a perfect example of how it might not work out for all riders. I would almost bet that your proportions are different than mine and you sit higher in the bike than I do. There could also be different wind turbulents created with your lighting on the front of your bike than mine. No one mod is perfect for all riders.

      If your putting the Road Warrior faring on a Road King Special there’s not a need to change anything on the headlight. The faring mounts in the same place as a stock H-D windshield. It will require the purchase of the faring, windshield and the mounting brackets. These three pieces are all sold separately from Memphis Shades. However they are a great company with great parts that I’ve used on my last two bikes.

    Great video but man, I REALLY wanted to hear Ms. Kidmoto22's opinion. #HerOpinionMatters LOL I'm in the same position as you. I love the RW better than the HD 15" detachable windshield and the Cafe shield I bought with the RW is perfect for around town and short trips. But I'm ordering a taller shield for longer trips. And that flexibility to do that, that you get from the RW, makes it hands-down a wonderful solution. Ride safe. Ride often. Give us more Ms. Kidmoto22. ✌🖖

    I powder coated mine. Don't care for the club style fairings. Every 30 year old Harley rider has one to go along with his Vans, his flannel, his sister's dress gloves, and that goofy Simpson helmet. I modified my Windsplitter to lean forward by modifying the bracket. It bolts on instead of sliding on. Good for security. Pushing the shield forward raised the bubble above my head. No buffeting. I'm 5'10". Remember brother, function trumps form. That good looking thingamabob looks cool but when the weather hits... Look out.

    • @kidmoto22
      @kidmoto22  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love that about motorcycling...it’s all about personal preference. What you like I may not and what I like you may not. I’ve found the faring to be fine in weather and I’ve ridden in some very cold temps sub 30° and it has done quite well.

    • @RideAmerica
      @RideAmerica 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      "his Vans, his flannel, his sister's dress gloves, and that goofy Simpson helmet." LOL that cracked me up. I was thinking of getting the windsplitter for my RK ... it's different than the stock mounting on what comes with the RK? Sounds interesting what you did to make it more secure.

    • @allwrong3114
      @allwrong3114 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mark Volchko The mounting is a simple slide-on. Provides no security. Even the way I have mine set up it can be stolen but it will at least take a little effort. It is an incredibly stable shield. I ride fast so I leave my shield on. Years of being on Eglides and Road glides have spoiled me. I got the RK to get away from the excessive electronics H-D touring bikes have these days. Don’t need all that crap. It’s a distraction. You won’t be sorry with the Windsplitter. Modifying it is the owners’s call. Worked for me.

    • @RideAmerica

      @@allwrong3114 Thanks for the feedback. My last 5 bikes have been SG's, Ultra's and currently own an RG Limited. I wanted something to get back to basics so I added a RK. The stock 20" windshield beats the living hell out of me on the interstate. I have scoured the net for solutions and several people have mentioned fork deflectors. Not sure I like the look of those but need to figure out a solution. I'll probably try the windsplitter first.

    • @allwrong3114
      @allwrong3114 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mark Volchko I’ve used fork deflectors on a couple Street Glides. They work. On my last 4-5 bikes I have put lower fairings on. I think the fork deflectors work better for wind control but for overall weather protection on the highway, I prefer the lower fairings. On the windsplitter; in case I haven’t mentioned, I modified mine to rock the shield forward. It raises the bubble over my head. I’m 5’9” on a Lepera Daytona which is about an inch lower than the stock seat. To
      much slope on the stock windsplitter. Otherwise I’m super happy with the windsplitter.
