I have a 2018 Road King Special and my first mod was a windshield. I wanted the windsplitter but didn’t want the chrome brackets. I ended up with a 16” Freedom shield with black Amazon brackets that fit perfectly.If I had to do it over again I would have gotten a 18” shield ,I’m 5’9 and believe it would have been better for me.
I labored over this decision for literal months. I did consider the Freedom Shield. Super nice folks and very helpful. I just loved the look of the Windsplitter a bit more. I believe Freedom Shields would be the way I went if the Windsplitter wasn’t an option!
I agree with you the splitter is what I wanted. I just came across your channel and subscribed, I’m a fellow NC rider out of Durham and also involved in ministry.Maybe someday we will run across each other and go for a ride.
My wife and I have matching Road King Specials. After riding with a wind splitter at one at our local dealer Demo day this was the windshield for us. Looks great and matches our riding. I don’t notice much difference adjusting the vent.

I had the wind splitter on my '17 RK Special and didn't like it lot of buffeting either with the trap adjustability . I swapped to Freedom shield on OEM bracket and it was a great improvement for me. you're custom bracket may be a good solution for the buffeting .
I also have a 23 RKS I just recently picked up with very similar bars and had the same situation with the bars having to be pulled back. In my case it worked for me since I’m shorter (5’7/5/8). Had a road warrior fairing on my last bike and this by far gives me better wind protection while still looking nice. Those long ride shields don’t really match the hot rod style of the RKS in my opinion. Cheers man and I’ll be doing a vid on this as well since I just competed a 1,700 mile trip without issues

The dealer should have informed you that the bars will have to be moved before installing. This is why I keep my HD bolt on windshield, it is very adjustable up and down and tilt at the angle I want.

It’s back ordered on Harley Davidson website. But you can ordered it. It says it will be shipped within 4 weeks but I had mine shipped with less than a week and a half.
Amen to the RKS. 2020 in my stable. After 25 years on the faring bikes I gave them up because of all the silly tech. All the tech I need is my speedo. Keep it simple. Enjoy the ride. Oh, and I have a WindSplitter. I love it. I made some mounting tabs that allow me to adjust the shield fore and aft about 5 degrees off center and also serves the secure the shield to the bike. These shields lean back pretty good. The Windsplitter is a POS. My 2014 FLHR came with one and while I agree that it looks reasonably good it is only suitable for someone 5’-8” or less because anyone taller is going to experience buffeting at your helmet. Why on earth they didn’t make a model that is 3 or 4” taller is beyond me. I have ordered a 19.5” tall KlockWerks Flare to replace the WindSplitter and I am confident that it will function much better for me.

I’m not convinced the flaws are in the Windsplitter itself, but rather, I believe the stock brackets to be the issue! Klock Werks makes a great product and I hope that setup works flawlessly for you!
@@RevMotoNCThe Klock Werks windshield is a total game changer. I am still looking over the top edge for a clean line of sight and I have zero buffeting at my helmet. Went on a 3000 km trip late in the summer and thoroughly enjoyed the way this new windshield protects my riding position.
Based on what I’m seeing with a quick google search, I would have the same problem with the Long Ride Shields as I did with the Windsplitter since it uses the same style mounting system. I still want to know more, though!!

The new brackets definitely shifted the angle slightly which put the wind just above my head!

Road kings always came with windshields. Harley took the passing lamps and windshield off, called it special and raised the Price. 😂
