Quick comment -- (great video btw) Alpha 1,4 glycosidic bonds will be formed below the plane of the molecule (OH group pointing down)! other than that, great explanation!
i think he just meant on same side (alpha) vs. opp (beta)
That is true. The explanation given is for a beta bond
