You listen to the song, and you just feel Juri’s pain...you feel the betrayal and the sadness of her realizing her one true love was never hers...and worst of all, not being able to come to terms with it: a terrible, longing pain that hurts more than anything in the world. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it.
The moment this played after Mikage is defeated and Akio explains to him how he used him is heartbreaking.. Damn, this series is full of sad people who can't resolve their trauma

Properly animated Utena has the best hair. Look at Dios hair in the picture. Akio in the last ep. Movie Utena. Anthy with her hair down. Movie Juri. Mki's siblings' cute blue heads. It's great that all characters' hair colors, when all gathered in 1 picture, look like shards of stained glass. And they really use stained glass a lot in the movie.

@@thewalrus45 Mainly because EVA is not a deconstruction of the genre and never was. Not saying it's bad or anything, but it does nothing that breaks the traits of the genre
@@Zexser a deconstruction isnt meant to break the traits of a genre, just play them straight to show flaws in the tropes that are uncritically reused over and over. i dunno if eva is really a deconstruction in that sense either, cuz Im not too into gundham, but its an important distinction.

Also Utena is specifically a deconstruction/critique on fairy tale stories and tropes, while Eva is more about reflecting on what hurts us as people, and the impact we have on one another. Both are amazing!

I just wish Utena had the mainstream recognition Evangelion does IMO it does the deconstruction of it's genre thing just.. better than EVA did.
