    Did you like the performance of the electrical brakes compared to what you had?

      Well the originals never really worked plus the maintenance is so much easier

    You just made me changed my mind from using the 5-pin to the 7-pin plug. Thanks for putting up the time to create this informative video, I really like it.

    On a single axle, can you tie both brakes together the head up to wire connection box? I have purchased a wire connection block and 7 prong wired. Much appreciated

    I’m about to tackle the project myself for my food trailer converting from those mechanical brakes style to a electronic system. I would love to message to see if you can help me out, man!

    im going to be wiring up a break controller and a 7pin female plug on my 78 ford could you do something similar ?

    • @Notafordguy
      @Notafordguy  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, I used the curt trailer brake controller and tied into the brake wire connected to the brake switch under dash by pedal. Then, I ran two wires all the way to the back. One was key hot and one was brake out from controller. I then just tied into the tail light harness for the rest of the needed wires.

    Just wired up my 28 foot sxs trailer. I used 2 junction boxes. One up front and one in the back.. tied all the rear lights in the rear box them ran main wires up to the front box. Front box I ran my electric brakes and my front 4 amber lights and breakaway into it.

      That’s a good way to do it. I’ll have to use that tip next time

    Is the process the same for converting air brakes to electric brakes?

    • @Notafordguy
      @Notafordguy  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very similar if converting Dexter 10k axles

    I don’t believe you mentioned where you grounded each brake assembly. Did you ground each individually at the frame or run them up to the front and grounded them there?

    • @Notafordguy
      @Notafordguy  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@joshcerasale9502 I tie them into the main harness white wire. Grounding at frame works too but the less grounds the easier it is to diagnose electrical issues in future

      @@Notafordguy definitely makes sense. I’m about to convert my boat trailer from surge to electric this week. You’ve helped me decide to take my grounds up to the junction box that I’ll install as well, then ground the box to the trailer with a 10ga jumper. Great video and appreciate the help!

    Hi
    I have questions
    I did exactly like this but when I connected the wire from the brake, 1 is ground, the other one I connected to the red color in the junction box but every time when I make the left signal automatically the brake activated only on left turn signal and I changed the position and the brake not working just only work when I connected to red color can you explain why is that problem or any idea to fix the issue
    Other than that the lights work perfectly

    • @Notafordguy
      @Notafordguy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Somewhere your left turn and brakes are shorted together I would make sure nothings touching in the junction box
