    The song is about a musician who is always touring and constantly leaving for some random city and leaving his girl behind ("destination unknown"), and the constant separation is killing the feeling they had, and she feels that the music has been put before her, while HE feels like she doesn't understand what his life is like. So she (Ruby Soho) feels like he is just letting her fade away, and by the end of the song, she accepts what seems like the inevitable and finally decides it's time to peace out. Great classic punk song.

    Tim’s voice is so distinctive you know it’s them instantly.
    That voice actually has a story related to the origins of band. Tim and Matt (bass) were in a rather seminal punk band Operation Ivy that maybe were on the track to break out, but they split up.
    Tim struggled heavily with substance use after this, and it is said he had a seizure or OD and was left with something of speech impediment. Matt (best friend since age 5), said you get sober for 1 full year and I’ll start a new band with you.
    So he got clean and Rancid was formed

    Do "Roots Radicals". It's their staple and a classic. I've seen Rancid twice and it's always a treat when they play Roots Radicals.
    Tim sings most of Ruby Soho and he's the guy with the interesting voice. It's very raw and unrefined. Lars is backup on the chorus and he's got a raw voice but hits the actual notes with more precision than Tim. Lars is the better singer.
    They kinda tag team on vocals for Roots Radicals.

    Glad ya'll checked out Rancid, very fun band, if very dark at times. I would reccomend you give Hoover Street a listen, also Rancid. Now for the main topic, Link Wray, Iwas hoping yall could do Rumble by Link Wray. He is the godfather of pretty much all moderrn heavy and fast music, and Rumble was the start to it all. Any one else interested in Link Wray and Rumble?

    This is Tim Armstrong singing , and the chorus is Lars Fredericksen and the bass Player Matt Freeman. Rancid are my favorite band . You have got to check more !.. and this is street punk. About every situation in the street . That is about. He is from California but this is a London crazy situation in a kind of motel room

    "Timebomb" is another popular song by Rancid that was in some movies and pop culture.

  • @BillyRubin81
    @BillyRubin81 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

    The song is about the listlessness of adolescence. The longing for belonging, missed opportunities framed around a loose narrative of a central character who essentially captures Tim's feelings of loneliness and a two-handed perspective on the fleeting nature of youth and love.

  • @dustinwroten353
    @dustinwroten353 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Tim's voice is the result of a speech impediment and a lifetime of drugs lmao. He talks the same way in interviews. Fun fact: he plays a villain in an episode of the X Files.

    Rancid is my favorite band of all time. Lead singer, Tim Armstrong is involved in lots of different projects. Check out his solo raggae album A Poets Life. Whole catalog is great. Try East Bay Night or Corazon De Oro, maybe Salvation. All of Rancid was also done acoustically by Tim under the psudonym Tim Timebomb
