Rancid will always be my favourite band and they are more true to themselves than the other 90s punk bands who went commercial
Little correction: It was Rancid's guitarist Lars Frederiksen who suggested Ruby use the song and the name. He actually texted his rep on the air during a live podcast they were doing together to give her the go ahead, and Ruby started to cry. It was a touching moment.

In my town, we have a Punk festival every August (pre-Pandemic) and I haven't missed one yet. Rancid and Misfits were my first introductions to Punk and I love the music so much! Maybe you ladies could listen to Dig up her bones by Misfits while you are in the Punk genre!

The main vocalist of this band that has the liberty spikes mohawk is named Tim Armstrong and Rancid are from Berkeley, California. Tim is a legend in the west coast punk scene and Northern California punk (NoCal) scene in particular. He was a founding member and played guitar for a legendary ska-punk band in the late 80s called Operation Ivy. They were only around for a couple of years but made huge waves in the scene. Other Rancid songs I recommend are Fall Back Down, Salvation, Radio, Hyenas, and Roots Radical just to name some. I even suggest Operation Ivy songs like Knowledge, Sound System, Take Warning, or Bombshell. Take care ladies, you did fantastic as usual
And it was Lars who has the red Mohawk who suggested to Ruby Riot to changer her name and also gave her permission to use this song. He is a huge pro wrestling fan, covers Pro Wrestling on his podcast and is good friends with several pro wrestlers including Ruby and CM Punk both of whom have appeared on Lars poccast.

A lot of people used to think Tim and Billie Joe from Green Day were related having the same last name and from nearby areas of California But they were or are good friends Billie being hugely influenced by Tim’s Operation Ivy stuff and even had a cover of Knowledge on one of Green Day’s early EP’s the Slappy EP

The glue glop is an actual thing. If you want big spikes that last you need a proper fixative. Elmer's glue is perfect - it dries fast, is durable, and washes out in the shower. Well, you have to scrub a bit, but it does wash out fairly quickly. It is water soluble.
If you want big, long Liberty spikes - Elmer's glue, my friend. It works.
Nothing looks lamer than a mohawk flopped over to one side. Been there. Don't be that guy. If you sport a 'hawk you have to do the required maintenance.
If you spot a punk looking character early in the morning at the coffee shop or wherever, chances are high they are going to be sporting a tuque or a ball cap. It's not for fashion. It's to hide thier flopped over mohawk.
Liberty spikes are high maintenence.

This cassette never left my truck player way back in high school. Rancid, and this album in particular, is still heavy in my playlist all these years later.

Glad you guys did this. Out Come the Wolves is my fave album by them. So many good tracks on there, Time Bomb, As Wicked, Junkie Man, Daly City Train, Avenues and Alleyways, and Disorder and Disarray to name a few. Awesome album for road trips. Their side projects are worth checking out as well. Tim Armstrong's A Poet's Life always puts me in a good mood, and Lars Fredrikson and the Bastards albums have a lot of good tracks as well. He is right about the wrestler. She did an interview with the lead singer, they were talking about what name she will use outside of WWE and he told her that if she want to use "Ruby Soho" as a name he will group text the rest of the group and get the rights cleared in 5 minutes. My favorite song of theirs is kind of hard to find, it was gone from TH-cam for a while.
Brad Logan, it was performed in south Park for the chef aid album.
There is a different demo version that's easier to find but it's just not the same.

Actually, the Misfits had a "second era" from 95 onwards with Michale Graves, then around 2000, Graves quit and Jerry Only (bass player) took over vocals, they played a while with Dez Cadena from Black Flag and Marky Ramone from the Ramones, and after a few years and albums, Danzig, Only and Doyle reformed "the original Misfits" (Doyle is Jerry's brother and was in the band in 82/83 until 2002 or so).

It was Lars fredirickson who suggested it. Lars is no normally the lead vocalist for them though he is on some singgs. Tim is the lewd vocalist on most songs including this one. Lars is the gutairist red mohawk. He is close friends with several pro wrestlers not just Ruby but also CM Punk.

this was good. wouldn't mind seeing more pop punk type of stuff on this channel, some other big names from this time period would be Green Day (my personal fave) and the Offspring. early and mid-90s was a good time for punk and pop punk.

About a year ago you reviewed the Band Disturbed's cover of the Sound of Silence. But you reviewed the wrong version. You must see the Live version they did on the Conan O'brian Show. It is literally the highest viewed video of its kind on TH-cam. It is magnificent !.
We’ve seen that video since first doing Sound of Silence & yes it is truly magnificent. Especially when you factor in that David was I’ll that night. Would love to see you react to Maneskin - four Italian young people who were friends for years, won Eurovision last year with a Rock song (Zitti i Buoni) and are now taking over the world! They write beautiful lyrics, especially in Italian. Their music spans genres, from Rock (Lividi Sui Gomidi and La Paura del Buio) to Ballads (Coraline). They promote equality and freedom of expression. They ROCK and I think you'd like them.

Modern Punkrock is not mostly Pop Punk, Sex Pistols are not Hardcore Punk, etc etc. The Pistols were Classic Punkrock, a few years later the First Hardcore Punkbands came around, examples here would be Black Flag, Circle Jerks, MDC, Cro Mags or GBH. Modern day Punk mostly acts as a more aggressive music that Mixes Punk with Metal. Some Underground examples from Europe would be Call The Cops, Breakout and The Defectives. Most Punk sang in english is kinda getting a Back To the roots movement at the moment in focusing more on elements from the Punkbands in the 80s
