Millions of metalheads cried out in pain when Pantera was called "screamo" :P
😂( but also 😢). How times change...
Should've shown them industrial metal of Fear Factory. Zero Signal was used in Mortal Kombat 90s movie.
Millions of actual metalheads cried out in pain when Pantera was called "metal" lmao
But yes, I agree with the gist of your comment lol
Hurt my back. My 36 year old back:
I HAAATEDD THAT
Radiohead and Weezer are NOTHING alike.
I mean, Pablo Honey is sonically similar to Weezer's blue album. Sure, Radiohead later on diverged greatly from their first album.
Oddly enough, for years, I thought “Creep” by Radiohead was a Weezer song 🤣
Potato potato
I wouldn't say nothing alike, in some songs they do have a similar sound early on, both eventually changed as they went but at the start you can definitely see similarities, there is a reason Creep is commonly confused for a Weezer song haha
@@DrizzFizzlebeatzpotatoe
being obsessed with Courtney love while wearing a nirvana shirt is unhinged
Yeah, she was WAY too into Hole
Wow that dude that said Pantera was screamo just earned the hate of a whole fanbase
He will be shamed for ever
Hahaha true that...
Lol fr
That girl who recognized the Tonight, Tonight video as a reference to A Trip to the Moon deserves a medal.
Dude referred PANTERA as "old school Screamo" Shoot me.
My fav part of the video
Right to jail..
@@slayerdude10 He must be 5 minutes alone with Phil
Love how Vivienne goes on about Hole and Courtney Love being her favorite but then says the lyrics make no sense. Um, yes they do. Maybe when she gets a bit older she will get it.
The dude saying he doesn't like Pantera because he doesn't like screamo is straight disrespectful. No respect for Respect.
Pantera sucks big time. Most overrated band in the world
Faith no More , Silver Chair, Alice in Chains and Soul Asylum next time if guys do another one of these Do they know 90s rock.
Hopefully there is gonna be another video
React has to revisit this segment again in sequels. There are still plenty of 90s rock bands left. Someone said, Alice in Chain, Stone Temple Pilots, Blur, NiN, Marilyn Manson, Rage Against The Machine, etc
Yes cuz I know as a teen in the 90s that the rock music out at the time was STP, NiN, Marilyn Manson, Pearl Jam, Rage against the machine, Bush, Counting Crows, Sound Garden, The Offsprings, Green Day, Jane’s addiction, Sublime and still so much more.
Yes and Angel should be on.
Did that kid just call Pantera OG screamo ?!?!?!?!?
Which kid?
Everyone else listening not really knowing the songs Jaxon and Gina jamming out the whole time
He called Pantera screamo 😭
Yup
Calling Pantera a screamo should be considered a crime
"I don't think I like the like..."
Gives me zero hope for the future
"This is screamo" pissed everyone who ever listened to Pantera off in unison.
lol, I was thinking Phil would throat punch that dude through the wall if he heard him call them that
@17:32 Wearing a Nirvana Shirt and calls Guns n Roses "Aerosmith" love it...
Seeing Pantera referred to as the "original screamo" made me actually scream out loud
I oh so hate that term.
It's just seems to be a catch all phrase for these dumb kids when any "aggressive" singing is presented to them 🙄
As an elder millennial(1982) I love these 90s focused videos.
1983 lovin it too!!
1981 and I remember listening to just about every single group in this video, except Sonic Youth. They are someone I should have paid more attention to when I was a teenager.
November Rain giving "Elton John vibes".....Elton John actually played opposite Axl Rose on 2 pianos at an MTV Awards show, performing 'November Rain'.
Also fun back about Nov Rain, it was written back in 1986 by Axl. Dont cry was also written back then too
that child called Pantera screamo...........................
Hole, but no Garbage? Shirley Manson was a rocking lead vocalist of the 1990s, as well.
So glad I was their age in the 90s/2000s. We didn't realise how good we had it
The irony of wearing a Nirvana tshirt, and saying you adore Courtney Love...
Wild 😂
That was wild
Yea, I lost a tooth when my jaw slapped the table.
old enough to appreciate the music but not old enough to know the lore 💀
There was a small 3 month window in the 90's where some of the best albums released by bands ever came out.....to say that me and my friends were were giddy was an understatement
Alice Cooper - Hey Stoopid July 2 1991
Metallica - Black Album 12 Aug 1991
Pearl Jam - Ten...Aug 27 1991
Guns N Roses - Use Your Illusion 1 Sep 17 1991
Guns N Roses - Use Your Illusion 2 Sep 17 1991
RHCP - Blood Sugar Sex Magic Sep 24 1991
Nirvana - Nevermind Sep 24 1991
Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger Oct 8 1991
Slayer - Decade of Agression Oct 22 1991
Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness is one of my favourite albums of the 90's. and respect to Jaxon for knowing the Flaming Lips.
Aw, I wanted to hear Jaxon’s story about meeting Slash.
Me too!!
One kid needs an ass whoopin for calling Pantera screamo. 😂
Pantera is the most overrated band in the world!
Jax hit that Weezer really well
I’m gen z, but i grew up on classic 70s and 80s hard rock.
What I love about 90's music was the diversity in the charts,
every genre was represented.
Dance, Rap, Pop, Grunge, Metal, Rock, Synth, House,
everything,
real artists, real telent.
As a Punk and Metalhead, I loved him calling Pantera Screamo. It's hilarious. 😂
The amount of times I was a 7 year old listening to Champagne Supernova on my bed looking at the ceiling is incredible.
How come u always ignore Garbage when its about the 90s. Especially when its about Rock. Their Version 2.0 is one of the best Albums of the 90s.
🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
My favorite 90s Rock Song is Black Hole Sun from Soundgarden.
Radiohead and Weezer couldn't be more different.
How about Weezer and Andrea Bocelli? Ta da!
In what way are Weezer similar to Radiohead?!
White
Having Viv being as well educated as Jaxon is increidlbe. So fun to watch them in music related videos (of course there are others that crush it, we all know them, but props for Vivienne pls).
Kid called Pantera screamo. 😂
I almost threw my phone against the wall 😂
Fun Fact: My high school rock band in the early 90s was called green cold brussel sprouts as an homage to the chili peppers.
Where is Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl jam and Alice n chains???
Also Stone Temple Pilots, Live, Presidents of the United States of America, and there are so many others!
@@RachSzabo where is Bush and Silverchair?
notice it didn't say "Best 90's Rock". This list was lacking a lot of good things and showcasing a lot of not so good things. I'm actually surprised Pantara made it on here. They are awesome, but very out of place in this playlist
Bush should be in the trash where it belongs.
Pantera's music is NOT screamo.
Right!? I wonder how they would react to Otep lmao
@@GuyFreeman5041,
I have no idea. I don't know what Otep sounds like.
Pantera? Screamo?! Cmon dude.. 😂
There's a whole lot of people who consider November Rain to be the greatest music video ever made and the song also stands the test of time, I think.
i am 15. i knew every single song in this video within seconds. i could sing along to all of them. that’s because my mom obviously raised me right, especially music wise. these kids who are probably older then me are sad.
I mean, being 15 and knowing all the songs makes me think your mom does song drugs. But keep up the good work.
The 80s and 90s was and forever will be the greatest decade when it comes to music and pop culture.
Fun fact: The album cover of that RHCP album was made by a famous Dutch tattooist: Henk Schiffmacher!
That’s interesting
Bjork, Portishead, Primus, Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Rollins Band.
My heart broke when the one kid said Pantera was like OG “screamo” and then the host said they influenced Nu-Metal.
No. Just no.
It's weird that Beastie Boys started in the 80s as a punk band and then went completely over to hip hop by the 90s. "Beastie" is an acronym standing for "Boys Entering Anarchistic States Towards Inner Excellence"
They were one of the first enormous rap groups ever with Fight for your Right in like 1986. Paul’s Boutique was 1989.
Gen X needs to come back and learns people on music.
When he said Pantera was screamo, instantly wanted to recreate the cover of Vulgar Display Of Power with him 😂
Gina and Jaxon are the best. I want to rock with them. Never thought I'd see Pantera on here. Champagne Supernova is also such a good song.
Fun fact : Tom Kenny (spongebob) , Jill Talley (Karen, plankton computer wife) Tom and Jill are married in real life is in Tonight, Tonight music video by smashing pumpkins
I feel like this list was made by somebody whom was very young in the 90's and doesn't remember what was absolutely overplayed.
They tackled 90's rock and didn't play anything by The Offspring???!!!
😢
The pumpkins, the beasties and the breeders all played at lollapalooza in 1995. One of the best festivals I’ve ever seen.
Vivienne, how can you say you love Courtney Love while you're wearing a Nirvana shirt?! 😂
AYOOO I was thinking the same!!!!!
I love when the producers/staff get in videos with the cast.!!!! These are my favorite videos to watch.!! I love seeing the in with the cast.!!! Do more of these.!!!
Okay, should have told them the story behind Beck's "Loser": He basically threw the song together as a....joke when saying he could write a song about anything and it'd get published. The "talking" part was just him talking about random things he saw off the cuff. He actually HATED the fact the song became a big hit because he felt it was his worst work as he wasn't taking it seriously when he wrote it.
Who's doing the research? Tragic Kingdom was No Doubts third album, not second, and came out in 96, not 93
7:01 I love that you had Mikey Whipwreck's theme song followed by Rob Van Dam's ECW theme.
How do you mention Jason Lee and not say "the star of My Name is Earl?" That's got to be the things he's best known for outside of skateboarding.
Saying pantera Is og screamo is crazy
They are clearly bolivian black metal
Foo Fighters is a great answer for running their own cruise. They do know how to throw a party and keep the vibes right.
And Dave Grohl is just such a sweetheart of a guy who loves his fans
God all these younger people need to get Sirius XM and explore all the genres of music I'm 34 I know music from the 60s to now and much more
The amount of disrespect that was shown to Pantera in this video is appalling
2:28: "Man, these music videos are so much better than the ones today"
The kids are alright.
pantera bein called screamo broke me XD
How they sneaked a banger band like pantera in this list is wild. ^^
I like the black dude. He's always so chill.
The 90's had so much good rock/alternative music. It's hard to pick just one fave song; Machinehead by Bush, Everlong by Foo Fighters and D'You Know What I Mean by Oasis are real rockers that I'll always crank up when I hear. This video was fun, thanks!
The nirvana shirt girl is so well raised! When I become a dad I will be so proud if my daughter has the same good music taste as her!
She's going to like Taylor swift. But maybe some other good music too.
you guys forget Faith no More!
Paradise City - Guns n Roses ; short story on why I love this song. I grew up speaking Spanish and over a summer I learned English and the first song I heard and knew what it was saying was Paradise City.
Where are the Seattle bands that defined 90’s rock?? No Alice in Chains? Soundgarden? Pearl Jam?
Any of those would have been more appropriate that GnR for 90s Rock
@@MarshalArts4080 or No Doubt 😏
You know that they have done many of these 90s rock videos before right??? Please tell me you're smarter than this. And yes they have done Peral Jam, Nirvana and other Seattle grunge bands before. Try using that head of yours and think!!! They don't do the same bands every time genius.
@@maplenerd22 no
Your manufactured outrage is noted.
the phrase "it's giving..." is giving me a headache from how far my eyes roll back into my head anytime someone says it. That and "iconic"
It’s sad how people don’t know Pantera nowadays. They were one of the most amazing bands ever.
That girl has a Nirvana shirt but she says she’s a Courtney Love fan...? That’s not compatible
Made me a little angry... oh so you love the chick who murdered the lead singer on your shirt... ok... that tracks
Okay, good, someone said it. She's killing me with her reactions. And not in the "cool" way 💀
They don't make Courtney Love t-shirts anymore. It's all about what everyone can see, nothing deeper.
@@georgegodfrey369 lmao she did not, stop it
You needed Cowboys From Hell for Pantera
"this is early screamo". Starts applying baby powder to the palm of my hand...
Wonderful watching kids in 2024 react to bands from my 20's... I saw a lot of these bands live, everything was better then.
How could they not recognize GNR !!!!! I weep for the youth hahaa
"...and someone is putting red hot chili peppers in all of them!" was the absolute highlight for me
"Did you like it?"
"No."
He's not welcome back. Get someone else. 🤣
Get those kids more Pantera STAT. This is how we save the world, people.
The Go-Gos were far more successful than Hole.
Yeah. I always felt back then Hole is popular because of its close association with Nirvana.
OK, she didn't say Hole was THE most successful band. And Go-Gos wouldn't fit in this video because they had broken up by the 90s
Offspring, Soundgarden, Bush, Goo Goo Dolls, Stone Temple Pilots, and of course, Pearl Jam.
At the Metalica/GNR concert in 1992, it started STORMING just as they were doing November Rain. We didn't realize it until there was a break in the music, and the rain and thunder sounds didn't stop. 🤣🤣🤣
Viv was absolutely nailing the guesses today, I would love to see her playlists. I was saddened she mis-guessed G'n'R tho, I think it was her only wrong guess too.
No Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam and Sound Garden?
I'm guessing they're planning on doing a separate video for Grunge specifically. If not, this was a terrible selection.
aahahahahaaha so what
I would love to see them react to Primus lol, that in itself should be its own video. Just reacting to all kinds of Primus
Man you should have played Cemetery Gates and showed them Phil's vocal range.
Then played suicide note 2
Pantera is screamo? 😂
Pantera is scream-o??? The world is doomed 🤦♂️
I was a senior in high school when Loser came out. My dad was stationed in Korea at the time, so I couldn't watch the video because the Armed Forces Network (American TV channel) didn't show videos. Korean TV only had Korean band videos. I was able to buy the CD from the Post Exchange. But when I graduated from high school, I moved to Arizona. I became obsessed with watching MTV. I'd watch for hours just on the off chance that they'd show the Loser video. Now, a good portion of the songs you played in this video are on my Spotify playlist. You cultivated a great bunch of music to bring to the newer generation here. Kudos!
4:10 "This is how I feel when I'm hungover." How appropriate, given the meaning of that song...
Man, you can tell Vivienne was born in the wrong decade, 'cause she's a 90's child through and through!!
She does great with 80s too in other videos!

At the start the chick wearing the Nirvana shirt states "this is going to be hard". Yeah. Gen Z in a nutshell. Gen Z NEEDS to know about 90's rock/metal, for the greatest & best era there is next to the 70's. And the chick with the multiple silver earrings low key looks like Trent Reznor 🤘🤘🤘
"we need to get away from the holes", "someone's gonna put the red hot chilli peppers in all of them" had me laughing so hard 🤣🤣
You guys need to check out the lesser known British rock from the 90’s, like thunder, terrorvision, therapy, and little angels
what abt the wombats and audio bullys
I always loved Placebo from that era of brit rock. They were a bit bigger though i guess.
Tragic Kingdom came out in 1995 fyi not 1993.
