A big thank you from me for this video, I bought the ball joint remover, followed this video to the T, and successfully changed the ball joints and drop linksand shocks. The first time I've done them and it went very smoothly .
25:10 'don't take too long' says he. Spent 3 days on mine. Soaking, heating, banging it all around, finally got it out with the scissor joint popper, couldn't get a fork. The joint was mangled beyond recognition. All in all, great video, thanks.
Great job, pissed of how easy you made it look. just spent 4 hours swapping a track rod end as it did not want to move. Well done great video with all the right info
Thanks buddy 👍 I guess although I’ve had a lot of bodges to repair nothing has been seized solid. Unlike the T5 which I have broken many tools on trying to remove seized nuts and bolts
Excellent video. Followed your approach and tool selection and completed my ball joint replacement with no issue. The bottom ball joint was a stubborn so and so but the blow torch persuaded it to part company. Thank you
Great video. Just ordered Upper and lower ball joints and complete tie rods from vdub monkeys and there cheaper super fast delivery. Ordered the ballpoint remover tool from amazon and will tighten the bracket like you say. Great video and great inspiration for me to do it myself. Thankyou for taking the time in making it
Excellent, glad you found it helpful, quite straightforward todo. The vdub monkeys I think are very reasonably for price parts and only supply quality parts 👌
Great recording. This was an advisory when our T4 was last MOT’d by the previous owner. I picked up the ball joints, and will try and tackle it at some point. 👍🏼
@@TwiggsT4 that’s kind of you. Thank you. I did get the track rod end replaced too which has cured the slight play. I wasn’t sure if it was a bearing upper lower joint or track rod. Still figuring these vans out. So I bought new upper and lower ball joints and bearings for both n/s and o/s. I was told that if one side is on its way out the other side won’t be too far behind. Will do as a winter project freezing my tits off out there 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for the video doing mine this week following your video and tools. What's the purpose of the torsion bolts and why does it need to be removed or loosened? Is it strictly necessary. Thanks
Nice one buddy 👍 the torsion bolts are basically the front springs, yes ideally loosen them to remove the tension. Im nearly always available to assist, good luck 🤞
@Twiggs T4 where you based? Want come down to Essex Thursday or Friday do a collab with me on my channel? I've ordered all the tools needed most have arrived already.
@Twiggs T4 might have a go Friday, if I'm only doing drivers side do I need to undo both torsion bolts? Is there one each side? Do I just loosen them to the end of the thread?
Sorry, I don’t know why I didn’t get a notification for this. Before loosening the torsion bolts, measure the length of thread showing as you will want to put the nuts back in the same place as this will adjust your ride height on the front. You don’t have to remove the nut just loosen it. Before trying to loosen the nut, give it plenty of lube and clean as much of the dirt and rust off the thread as possible. Shame, I’m from Southampton, Essex is a bit of a trek, for some reason i thought you were a lot closer than that.
@Twiggs T4 appreciate that thanks mate. Maybe do a collab something when my vans back up and running lol. Would you possibly add me on Whatapp if I get stuck or unsure I can send video?
Great video Twiggs, watched a few of yours now. Top work. Out of interest what are your torsion bar measurements? I tried to pause the video are they 40.8 pass and 28.3 drivers?
Great video as always. Very informative. That breaker bar always comes in handy. Twinkle picker made me laugh 😆. Plenty of lube in this video… Wd-40 this Wd-40 that 🤣 ( they sponsored you yet) ? 🤔
Great video 👌

A garage did mine and the suspension collapsed
Really good videos thanks for share …. We make better fix and restores on own vans 💜💚🖤🐿
Thank you, yes this is why I don’t take it to a garage 👍
Paint pen.
I scribed it coz I didn’t want it to come off when I went over it all with the wire wheel
