Man, this saved me ALL kinds of time going through the bottom like this instead of disassembling the whole machine. Tip: Keep a good worklight inside and the two hard to reach bolts are visible from the front.....reach around and put your socket on it. Whole job done in under an hour.....thanks so much!
This man knows how to do an instruction video. The steps are explained so simply, the video is shot well, and his voice and music makes this repair video nice to watch and learn from. Thank you for this great help and saving many of us money in repairs.
Your video saved me $800. Sure enough, it was the drain pump that needed replacing. Your step by step directions were easy to follow. It was pretty tight underneath the washer trying to get everything loosened up, but with a little patience and persistence, I was able to finish the job. Thank you so much for your help!
Thanks for the video. Gave me enough confidence to go on Amazon, get the part for $28 and do it myself. 1.5hr later, no more OE error and machine runs like a champ.
This was super helpful, a good do it yourself person can do this repair just be patient and follow his instructions. I did it in a hour and a half. The only help I needed was a buddy to tip the machine back into safe position.
Thank you soooo much. I was able to fix my washer without an expensive repair man visit.(The washer would not do anything except turn on and make a strange clicking sound. ) It was the first thing you mentioned. I unscrewed the filter and a bucket of water came out and the filter had just a small piece of plastic trash caught in it. After letting it drain and removing the junk from the filter, I screwed the filter back in and turned the washer off. When I turned it back on and tried to run a short cycle of wash--it started right up and ran a full cycle.
Super video, my guy! Got the 0E code. Checked the filter and hose and all seemed good so figured it was the pump. Your video was the best and I love that you accessed from beneath unlike others. I put a jack stand under it just in case but it was a pretty straightforward repair. After pulling everything out, I had difficulty getting the pump off because the metal bracket was blocking it. I had to remove it (just four screws). My rubber gasket was ripped and seemed to allow for movement even when tightened down, so I put another thick rubber washer in there and that eliminated the play. Thanks so much!
You sir are a Gentleman and my new best friend. Saved me quite a bit of money and time. I appreciate you and your videos. Thank you and keep doing what you do.
Great video, replaced my pump and my Kenmore Elite is now working for $34. Some tips I can add is to take a picture of the motor alignment and which holes had screws when you remove it from the pump. I also had to take off the bottom mounting bracket to take the motor out of it due to tight fit. You can use a wet vacuum to get nearly all the water out of the wash machine before doing this job, and tip it on it's side vs the back allowing easy access to the pump location.
This video included sufficient information and images to allow me to extract the drain pump from same model washer and then I even dissected the motor. It needed cleaning on the inside because it had some sand in it. I put it all back together (twice) and it works great now. Pay attention to which way the wires are connected. I hooked mine up backwards the first time so had to redo it but it was way easier the 2nd time. Good luck to everyone.
Excellent video! I suspect a clog from some paper that was accidentally washed a couple of days ago, but I'll need to pull the pump (most likely) to get to it. Much appreciated!
My machine just threw an OE code. It's been a while since I drained and cleaned the filter so I just did that and ran an express wash. It made loud noises but it seemed the soap was used before it threw and OE code again. Now I'm running a rinse cycle to see what happens and waiting for it to finish so I can get the load of clothes that are in there out. Think I will try to run an express wash with hot water to see what it does next. It was making loud noises like it was having a pumping problem of some sort. Hopefully it was just a clogged filter bc there were some gross stuff I pulled out. We'll see.
Great video! Question for you: mine gives the OE code even though it drains fine; it just never starts to spin. Is the drain pump/motor still the likely culprit?
The question I have here is, how do you know that the hose from the tub is not blocked with a sock or something in the tub before you remove the pump and hoses? Is there a way to inspect that area and the pump inlet? I have found coins in the filter before when cleaning the filter so I assume other items can find their way into the pickup tube. My machine, I hear the pump motor running but the water level does not go down and the machine keeps cycling until the OE code appears. In other words, I do not want to remove and change the pump unnecessarily. Thanks!
Even if a sock was in the inlet tube, you will still need to remove the pump to extract the sock. Sounds more like your impeller is damaged on your pump to me though.
Hi I am getting nd code in middle of the wash washer stops no drain and some water in the tob left, any idea what could be the problem with my Kenmore? I did open the front drain like you did a lot of small stuff I cleaned them and start the machine again but same problem!
Hi, I will need some help I am getting a front loader Kenmore washing machine from someone that decided to just get new ones and my husband will try and fix but I think he will need a little help, would you be able to help us out on that? I still don’t know what model until we bring them in today!
Alright, removed and cleaned out my filter and drain tube, replaced drain pump with a new one (old one seems to have had a bearing failure) reassembled and ran two test loads, both failed to drain and threw a DE code. What am I missing?
If you get the OE code and have checked the filter then the motor I explain in the video is bad. Everything is explained in the video on checking the motor and which one it is.
Thanks for the reply. I got it all apart and there is nothing causing a clog. I have no way of knowing if the pumps are good or bad. The propellers both turn fine?? I guess I'll just replace them both while it's out.
@@may142004 when facing the machine the pump on the left is the drain pump. "The one that needs changed" You shouldn't have to replace the other one. It's only a circular motor and doesn't cause the OE code.. I hope this helps some.
Overabundance of detergent suds or bubbles will also throw the code 0E and I have also seen new parts that was bad from the factory.. Also trace the pump wires to make sure there are no breaks and everything is making a good connection.
@@closerangeoutdoors1496 no.. it won't throw the 0E code with a bad circular pump.. But it will if someone puts a circular pump in place of the drain pump. The circular pump pushes less water and has a smaller impeller.
I just did it on the platform.....take out all of the screws on the side holding it to the platform and lean it back on top of the platform. I set it to where it was steady and balanced pretty good and ran a ratchet strap across it to the wall to hold it back.
Was the filter tight? they have been known to loosen with time. Also, you may try running the machine and watching to see if you can locate the source of the leak. The front rubber boots can also be notorious for leaking.
No there are several models that use the same pump but not all of them. The model I'm working on here has a link in the bio to direct you to the correct pump.

Excellent
Good job. Now I know what to do. Thanks!
What is the hose for that's still on there for
That hose is a manual drain, So if need be it can be drained in a bowl or pan.
Mine threw the OE code first cause it wouldn’t drain but now it won’t even spin. Can it still be this same part?

@@James-zy8vk where the pump attaches to the tub is the inlet, these specific units aren't bad about socks being in them, but it's not impossible.

I have that exact same machine. Tried draining the water 3 times and it still isn't working. Assuming it's the pump like in the video😩
That was a good helpful video. Where did you find that awesome background music?
Read the bottom of the video description. It lists the songs. They are in the YT library
Also… is there anything else it could be? Besides the filter or the drain pump? (Anything else that would give the OE code?)
As long as your drain line is clear then No it will be one or the other.
