    If anyone's budget speaker designs deserve pairing with higher end electronics it is Andrew Jones.

    Questions were good, well done. In my original Elac debut 6.2 review, I mentioned i heard micro distortion. Turns out it was mostly one cd and now Andrew mentioned the tweeter has attenuation at certain frequency, I wonder that is what I heard with that one specific cd which was recorded to be ultra clear sounding. Hmmm..... I need to get these and play that cd again.

      Thomas & Stereo Attenuation is not distortion......it means high frequencies are lower in volume....I.e. rolled off. Distortion is something else. Often caused by the power supply, microphonics from vibration in the equipment, EMF contamination...etc.

    499.00 or 599.00 is the question I had. I just worry about power Yamaha cx 780. Even that it has enough watts at 90 it same thing with all Elac speakers. O by the way I love them once they beat out svs ultras that was it for me. Thanks keep kicking all those company butt

    Terrible questions. Next time ask him something useful like what do you need to drive the speaker (at least we know the watts), and what are the applications you're allowed. What are they known for? Are they bright or warm. What is the soundstage like? Can they be paired with a subwoofer and/or used in a surround sound application? Can the be used nearfield? What would the better electronics give you?

    • @towatchvids
      @towatchvids 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be fair most people in the market for these or who are familiar with the way Andrew Jones designs speakers will know the answers to what you've said. The questions he asked are actually more important ie: the main differences in this vs the less pricey debut line. Of course they can be used in surround sound, or with a sub.. most speakers can if you know what you're doing. Jones frequency response in non uni-fi type configurations are usually fairly neutral with slightly elevated highs and low end, with a slight roll off in the harsh zones around 4khz to 9khz obviously models will vary, but he's known for this design style.

    • @towatchvids
      @towatchvids 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @C Burgess Atleast they didnt need to be told something so obvious. Also by todays standards they are actually relatively higher efficiency than others in the price range. Of course that only another obvious spec..

  • @haraldsimon2807

    So, so. This is the next good example for advertisement: Debut, the high end sound for a small budget. Debut 2 since the cabinet from Debut produces sound. Now, the reference with a modified tweeter since the grill produces artefacts. What will come in the next month? - You lost my trust with every new model released in that short period of time.

      @@creator2000bc Over 100 years of speaker manufacturing and knowledge about resonances. Why did he not use die cast chassis from the beginning on? I guess that the price difference is nearly to 0.
      BTW: A different chassis means not automatically lower resonance. Rather, the resonance has been moved. I guess we will read about this in 6 month ;-)

    They lost me at the 6 ohm point.

    • @deegee6046
      @deegee6046 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      6 ohm brings it to more efficiency with your amp (Less Resistance) as opposed to 8 ohm I believe I am correct on this

    • @J0hnny8ravo
      @J0hnny8ravo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      D Gee I use both outputs of my amp, and in this case they need to be 8 ohm or more per speaker. Not willing to take any chances.

    • @towatchvids
      @towatchvids 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@J0hnny8ravo So you're using 2 sets of front speakers? Or are you using the B channel to power your rears? Either way as long as it's a decent amp it should be fine. As was mentioned in the video the lowest resistance they drop to is 4ohm, that should be fine on most decent amps. The reasons amp companies put that warning on there is for the speakers which are rated 4ohm or less but actually drop down to 1ohm or less while playing certain frequencies. Audioholics youtube channel has a pretty good video discussion on this topic. They also go over why you shouldn't use the 4ohm setting if your amp has one, and why you are safer to keep it on the 8ohm setting even with 4ohm speakers.

    • @J0hnny8ravo
      @J0hnny8ravo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Realizer Network, i'm using the B channel to power up my passive sub. I could use only one output and feed the speakers from the sub's speaker outputs, but keeping the sub / speakers on different A / B outputs gives me the possibility to easily disable the sub when I want to. The amplifier is on the low power side, with a max 35wpc in 8 ohm, but I love the way it sounds and I intend to keep it as long as I can.
      Thank you for your answer!

    • @towatchvids
      @towatchvids 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@J0hnny8ravo If it's a passive sub with no amp those outputs will effectively be the same as hooking them into the main amp. You'd be better off just running both from the a/b channels honestly the 6ohm vs 8 shouldn't make that big of a difference as long as the transformer in your amp is decent. You'd be running a bit more than 35 wpc at 6 ohm but probably not enough to overheat the transformer more than normal in my opinion, and if so then it's time to upgrade the amp haha. I have 4ohm Epos Epic bookshelves hooked up to an older 8ohm recommended amp as well, it's fine as long as you don't crank it too high and pay attention to how hot your amp is getting if you're playing for extended hours of listening.

      Yes that was my thought right off the bat. Next right after that was when will we see a Unifi reference? As a Unifi owner, I would like to see 6.5" woofer meaning more bass/less excursion especially at lower listening level and a more extended smoother treble response. Oh, and while at it, make it a bit easier to drive.
