I'm so humbled. I'm a grown man, I've stepped outside to settle problems more than a few times, I've been a professional mechanic going on 20 years, I've been poor as dirt and fought my way out of it, but watching these videos I have to admit that nothing I've done in my life can amount to the shear bravery and heart that these girls showed in the single act of escaping such a treacherous dictatorship. I honestly can't imagine the self coaching required to commit to literally facing death on multiple fronts only to escape a country and not really know that you will be free from getting caught and sent back within a day of crossing the border. I've broken bones, ripped off finger nails, had embedded objects removed from mye eyes just from day to day work, and I have no problems knowing it will likely happen again. These two, and thousands of others faced far far grimmer outcomes in search of a bowl of food or the right to express themself. I'm truly humbled.
@@morgothfromangband6082 being poor and my time as a mechanic were separate times. Its hard to make good money as a mechanic but I have a great job now.
I also admire the effort to converse in English. I do wonder how much detail is lost in the translation. But, wow! The stories coming out of North Korea are as bad as I have imagined. Is there a more despicable regime than that ruling NK? What regime punishes *GENERATIONS* (not to mention non-blood and unwilling participants), for the “infractions” of a single individual? Your stories are excruciating to hear; but your stories MUST be told. Thank You.
It'll be silly to do it in Korean. They barely care about them over there. Even just tactically, getting your message out there, it wouldn't help. I think only one defector's book has ever sold even a large volume in Korean. They're consistantly best sellers in English, and HUGE in Japanese apparently.
I admire the effort but I would still like to hear them talk in their own language, as they are most comfortable with. There is just a difference in emotion that you are able to convey from your mother language and given the heavy topic at heart, I feel like that would speak to most people's hearts. I would love to hear more in detail about what her story was. It was so sad and I felt like I wanted to hug her the whole time I heard it.

Thanks for the great job you are both doing to shine a light on the darkness of North Korea.
Blessings to both of you.
So terrible to loose your whole family to achieve freedom. I wish you luck in finding your parents. You deserve the happiness that you sacrificed everything for. Enjoy and be well.🥰 Hope you are feeling better Yeonmi.
Yeonmi and Nina are both awe inspiring. They’re extraordinary resiliency is ‘survival of the fittest’ tested. They’ve earned their right to exist. How many of us can say we’ve earned the life that’s been given us? Not many.
So beautiful ❤️ I hope she finds her parents 🙏🏽
Hi Nina! Thank you for your amazing story and bravery. People you like inspire us to never let our freedom be taken for granted.
I loved this! Yeon mi was a great host, and Nina has beautiful smile and demeanour as well. And you both laughed and spoke so freely. I hope Nina finds her family again
Hi Yeonmi. Love your outfit so pretty. I love hearing the laughter from you two sweethearts.
I love how you two sisters share laughs together, it is so sweet
Nina's channel is great. I highly recommend it.
Thank you ladies for sharing your story and helping to publicize the conditions the average north Korean is facing and why it is important to help them and defectors as much as possible.
Both of you are the most courageous women I've ever got the pleasure of knowing! True sacrifices for life that should be free- you both show so much strength and power it is undeniable. Thank you for being open and sharing with us so we can better understand everything that has happened and is happening.

It’s sad to see how Yeonmi struggles with expressing sadness for others, after seeing so much suffering I’m sure anyone would. Such a strong person
So happy your Here.
This is so awesome. So happy for you both 🙏
You are both such brave women! I admire both of you, that you were able to escape North Korea, despite the danger of being shot, or thrown into prison. I am happy that you are both safe now and can live in the US. I really hope you can be reunited with lost family members. Hugs from Alberta, Canada🇨🇦
Thanks Yeonmi. God love you.
I liked the background piano music on your upload.
Such a touching story! I hope she can find her mom soon 🤍🤍🤍
Nina, You were so brave!! I hope you find love and peace here. I pray your mother is safe and that one day you find each other.
Thank you for being so brave to share your story Nina.💜🙏
Freedom is never free, there's always a cost. Many lives lost, but freedom is worth the fight! You both chose a great country to be free and live a better life.
You have such strength I could only hope to have in my darkest hour. I am so happy that you both got out of there, but there are so many still there that need to be free. Keep doing the work you are and soon it will start to make a difference.
Peace and Love from Washington
All of those who escape were extremely lucky. They’ve all met good people that can help them. 😭 I was so worried they will be reported or sold by bad people when listening to the story.
Such courage. Thank you for sharing these stories with us.
Thank you for sharing your story, Nina. I am not a very religious person but I will pray you find your mom & dad. I wish there was more I could do to help. Sending love from Utah ❤️
Wow great story of Nana's escape from North Korea . Glad you are free in America to tell your story and to meet up with Yeonmi . Sorry to hear your about your sister, I am sure her sprit was with you when you escape to China safely. Hope one day you will find your father and mother, to found out what happened to them though social media. You are so brave to escape by yourself thanks you for sharing your story.
Great story. Makes me happy to hear about ppl who escape those horrible conditions. Could you even imagine the fear and hope both working simultaneously while escaping. Afterwards, the feeling of joy and elation that you are now free. What a feeling, I can only imagine...
Thank you Ms. Yeonmi, I have only been watching you videos for a couple of weeks but I have learned quite a bit about the unnecessary suffering of the North Korean people caused by a family of dictators. I am thankful for the people in China that helped Ms. Nina instead of turning her over to the Chinese police also.
I am glad you have other defectors in your area you can talk to.
What an incredible story from Nina. I hope both you ladies understand that you inspire your viewers more than you can imagine. Your stories make my issues so much more tolerable knowing there are people out there suffering from real life or death matters. Keep shining!
Welcome to America Nina!! we are so blessed you are here ❤ 🙏 🙌
Amazing strength you have Nina. 💖 God bless you and may you be reunited with your family. ❤️✝️
Nina you are absolutely amazing girl. It makes me cry to know what you had to live through. Most girls your age think a bad day is when they don’t have enough money to get their nails done. You will inspire many people and I will pray that you find your mother and you find your happiness. One day maybe you will have a family of your own with beautiful children to love. You deserve to be happy and enjoy your live. You have lived through more than most ever will.
I enjoyed hearing this story. Yeonmi, she had determination for freedom like you. In America, We don't realize the amount of freedoms and blessings we have. Thankyou Yeonmi for bringing this to the light🔥🔥🔥
What a story of endurance and survival. Amazing young lady and I can't believe she is in her thirties!! There must be something in your ladies genes that keeps you looking so young even though you endured so much in your life!
glad your here Nina !!!
Thank you, Nina, for sharing your story! It's very important for the world to know what is happening in North Korea. I hope someday soon the North Korean people will be free and you can be reunited with your friends and loved ones.
Thanks for such inspirational video.
Greetings from Brazil.
Thank you Yeonmi and Nina! Every time a hear someone’s sad story trying to get to freedom, I’m crying like a baby! Very very few Americans can’t even imagine what the North Koreans struggles just to exist let alone live a happy life! You need to talk with the movie producers that made the move Minari and try to produce some series of your struggles, so the uninformed Americans can see what the hell is and has been happening over there. By the way, I love the extra large North Korean style mondoo’s!!!
So encouraging to see your channel exploding with growth right now. Thank you both for sharing your stories and giving us this vital information.
