Best part was listening Ivan talking about the way he manages players and understanding characters even from NZ born and raised Polynesians and Australian born and raised Polynesians, I think it’s been a big part of why he has been successful.
Hey lads, Jarome Luai has achieved just about everything in the game. Now that he's moving on from Penrith, what do you think would be a bigger achievement for him, winning a premiership with the Tigers or a World Cup with Samoa? As a fan what do you think is bigger, and what do you think would mean more from Jarome's perspective. Cheers lads, love the poddy
Definitely a prem with the Tigers. With the World Cup you’re kinda given the best players to represent each country so the competition on paper is at a higher level however, the smaller pool size of the competition coupled with the fact the comp only lasts a few weeks means the stakes a lower. With the Tigers you’re on a team with a reputation that has been sullied with the fact they’ve won the wooden spoon three years in a row. Taking a team like this to premiership champs over the course of 27 weeks is a bigger accolade in hindsight.
World cup with Samoa 2026 in on the card, there are big names in the game wanting to be part of it in 26, the likes of Tino & Hass, Tuivasa & Nanai switched already.

Only issue with having WCC in Vegas, is that the teams get decided in June/July, to allow fans to save up for the trip. If one of the four teams (like Penrith this year) end up winning the comp, you would have to send Penrith for the WCC, and then add another NRL team in October to take Penrith’s spot.
Mason hasn't a clue about most things but he shouldn't bother commenting on Superleague. French isn't as slight as he once was and his defence is absolutely superb now. they really need to change the rules let players play for who they want internationally and still play origin. We are lowering the quality of both comps with these restrictions.
Question. In the formula 1 they do a thing called the Summer break and take 4 weeks off. Should the NRL do the same BUT in that 4 weeks do the Pacific Cup and World club challenge? Thoughts? Halt the NRL for 4 weeks during this time , obviously advertise that the event is coming up during the season. Then let Samoa, Tonga, Fiji and Kummels go at it. Let Aussie's and NZ go at it. Alright boys, absolutely spot on with your take on the superleague over here in the UK, there is a clear gap between the bottom 6 teams and the top 6. Sadly the game is dying over here, there’s a general lack of interest and not enough is being done to promote the game. The reason the big stars can walk the streets relatively anonymously is because there’s a massive lack of representation in the media, everything’s about soccer and union over here. The production value of the NRL is significantly better, from the commentators, to the pundits, to the shows there’s just so much more entertainment factor on your side of the pond. The grassroots game is also suffering with clubs having to fold left and right, this country just doesn’t value rugby league sadly. Not much in the way of a questions lads just a rant, I’m just grateful there’s means of watching the NRL from over here.
I don’t get all this League is dying over here in England mate I don’t see it, and Union is almost non existent where I live in Leeds it’s all League … Rugby League has more TV coverage and media attention in England than it ever has had in a very very long time, we also have regularly featured on BBC Breakfast in last couple of years which never used to happen. The UK game just needs a revamp and money pumping in again and we can build it back up. Union at club level is also financially struggling in the UK as are most sports since Covid, aside from Football …… Football dwarfs every other sport in UK … Union is no where near the level of Football … Cricket is also getting less mainstream attention that it ever has .. there’s no household names in Union like there once was its Football Football Football and all the other sports are fighting for 2nd sport and in UK as a whole it may be Union just as it’s nationwide … Cricket only big in England and parts of Wales, League only big in north of England. Your right about union though , absolutely dying over here , such a shit sport compared to league 😂 RFL never capitalised on that brilliant final between Wigan vs saints during covid it was trending massively at the back of that finish by welsby winning it in the death but same old RFL not trying to grow the game in the right areas. They don’t help themself playing England vs Samoa at Headingley on the same day and time as Leeds United are playing at home . I’ve got a season ticket at Leeds United and I would of loved to have gone to that England game , stupid by them do it all the time making fans like me not able to watch it

Tonga vs Samoa vs nzl would be a great tri nations comp especially playing it in nzl ( as well as aus ) and then England vs Australia in a best of 3 type of comp .
@@fu8713 I wouldn’t say England is garbage ….. just think it’d be easier to have games in nzl if we knew aus and eng would still be playing in aus , but agree the four countries you’ve mentioned would be great viewing
The Tonga,Samoa and Kiwis series is happening next year unless one of those two in the current pacific championship gets demoted this year but I highly doubt they will
Boys would be keen your thoughts on the idea of bring back the Anzac Day Test Match and playing Tonga v Samoa before it. Tonga v Samoa into Australia v NZ on the one night would be a sell out and an amazing event to attend
Tonga has a gun side, and the Kiwis are always strong. But if Samoa were to get first pick at any player with Samoan heritage they would be ranked 2nd and not far off beating the Kangaroos regularly. Kangaroos would lack a bit of size in the front row if all the Island boys played for Samoa or Tonga. 1. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow 2. Brian To'o 3. Izack Tago/Matt Timoko 4. Stephen Crichton(c) 5. Ronaldo Mulitalo 6. Dylan Brown 7. Jarome Luai 8. Moses Leota 9. Danny Levi 10. Payne Haas 11. Jaydn Su'a/Isaiah Papali'i 12. Jeremiah Nanai 13. Tino Fa'asuamaleaui 14. Keano Kini/Sua Fa'alogo 15. Shawn Blore/L. Leilua 16. Spencer Leniu 17. Nelson Asofa-Solomona 18. Taulagi, Utoikamanu, Hunt, RTS, Talagi, Khan-Periera, Paulo.
A lot of those players are half/half though. I wish the same with the Maori players making up a Maori team to play. Kalyan ponga and Walsh at kiwis we would dominate.

Hey boys this might seem picky but would love to hear ur opinions on players names not being on the back of the test jersey. Playing for your country is the biggest achievement in sport bar none. Your out there representing ur country, yourself and your family, would be such a proud moment for parents and siblings seeing their names out there, most of whom would of made massive sacrifices to watch their sons reach the top. I'm 99percent sure they're on origin jersys. No wonder KP said no thanks 😅
Boys love the podcast. Would love to know the big fellas opinion of players starting the game with their socks down? Especially in big games like test matches and origin. Do you think they should have them pulled up at the start and at halftime?
UP LEVELS. This tournament needs Roos, Kiwi's, Samoa, and Tonga. They need to be a full strength & playing each other. Then the tournament would be off the hook. Toa vs Mate Ma in Auckland would be earth shattering. Nothing in the world would beat the atmosphere that the crowd would produce.
Lads With all the big injuries in the half’s for Australia in the pacific nations. Do you guys think Mal should have considered being in Bevan French? He has been in form and probably the best player in the super league. What he did in the grand final was crazy. Cheers
Chur the boy's, L1 Day 1. I'm a junior and senior footy coach, small town NZ. I've been looking for an app online for Rugby League rules, can't find one. Any leads? World Rugby union have one and it's always the go to when explaining rules. Any help would be mean, chur
Fiji vs PNG aren’t playing this weekend? 🥚 airtime for us is pretty poor and as a huge Levels fan- very disappointed. Light work for PNG though! baby what’s up 🍓
Lewis shepherd a storm fan who host the Fifth and Last Nrl Podcast has said throughout the years he doesn't think Munster has played particularly well in any finals series, I would always tend to agree with that sentiment, obviously he's been a beast through regular seasons and had his fair share of big moments in origin. You boys might not give a crap about this but I've noticed the last 2 season he has no longer become relevant as a supercoach option at 6, it's a fair question matey asks about Luai and Munster.
Do you think it’s time to make the international game the pinnacle? Have the NRL provide similar match payments to Origin, reduce the season by a few weeks and allow Tonga Samoa NZ play three games in the middle of the year then allow Origin to be a true Australian trial for players omitted to green and gold. Play Origin on a Friday and allow the internationals on the Saturday/Sunday? Split that with a few weeks between games
Then Australia tour England every second year to bring back the Ashes etc. allow greater player rest at end of year but international game is then super competitive
Yes the boys L1 since day 1. I'd say I'm your biggest pommie supporter. Love the poddy, question for scope. Where did you get your fleece from? Would love something like here right now. Side note world club challenge should be played in Vegas, neutral ground great spectical 2 best teams in the world going at it who wouldn't want that.
Question for the Boys. Everyone talks about RADLEY playing origin. Question is who are you dropping out of the NSW squad so RADLEY can play? Yeo and Muarry already battle for that lock spot, and Yeo wins it every year. This locks Muarry onto an edge or, at worst, a bench spot, leaving Crichton and Martin to lock the edges or bench spot down. I just don't see RADLEY pipping any of those players and what they do for NSW.
Hey gents, curious if there was any player performances or moments in a game where you saw a significant momentum shift in a game or season that lead to a win or even long term season success? For me, as a diehard bunnies man the way ben te’o attacked the prelim against the chooks knowing it could be his last game for us with a loss powered us into that win and eventually the 14 gf over the dogs, any that stick out for either of you? Grateful for all the content throughout the year, l1 from day 1 💚❤️
Boys, question, little late to the party, but what is the difference between Ponga making himself unavailable for the Kangaroo’s because he wants to be fit for Newcastle, and Brian, Critta, Luai etc not being available for Samoa, to attend Critta’s wedding? Cheers
Hey lads , if you had the choice to watch either 3 state of origin games or aus vs nzl vs Tonga vs Samoa over the same number of weeks origin takes what would you pick (eg nzl vs aus and Tonga vs Samoa then changes to aus vs Tonga and nzl vs Samoa etc etc )
Warbrick has to be top 4 for me. Doesnt get targeted enough because they force feed Coates (which doesnt work) and Warbrick still is able to impact. His defence is average but having Meaney inside him hasn't helped. Imagine his output if he was utilised as a number 1 target.
Honestly think England & NZ need to have a mid season series while Origin is on. Otherwise NZ are just going to keep getting pounded losing guys to 2nd tier nations because they can still play Origin Then have exactly what Scope is saying happens with the Tri series & a Pacific cup series. Every 4 years you have a World Cup
Wasssup lads just finished watching the O.Gs bulldogs prelim vs Penrith back in 04 sheeesh Preston Campbell was a gun jayden is also a gun, was wondering who are some other gun players now who’s dads or relatives were guns back in the day ?
Hey boys love the pod got a question that I never hear asked it’s pretty obvious who the best player in the game is but who would you say holds the #2 card for second place best player in the game
OGs, when do we consider Tonga and Samoa as tier 1 nations? As Mase said 60% of the comp is now Polly and the quality of both these nations will compete with any. What if we make these two nations tier 1 and it forces the Polly boys to pick if they want to play for their country or play origin, no more playing both. Then have mid year by rounds during origin where the comp takes a break and we play origin and also the Tonga vs Samoa game you mentioned which I think as you said will be just as watched as origin. Not sure what the kiwis do but I’m sure there is an option for a kiwis vs the rest not eligible to pay in these game eg other pacific nation players and English players playing in Aus a barbarians team. Love the poddy boys you do the mahi we get the treats
Hey Hoz, did you watch the women’s game last night? It was exactly the same as the PMXIII……if you wanted any proof that the NRL is telling refs to assist teams there it is!!! On both occasions the PNG side was allowed to lay in the ruck for what felt like 5-6 seconds where Aussies were being pulled up for much less……no flops penalised either, about 40 by PNG. If this sort of assistance is needed should the game even be happening? It was embarrassing and only tarnishes the reputation of Kara-Lee and Belinda.
I find it hard to believe, that French, wouldn't get into at least six NRL teams. Players in those teams ( earning half a million AUD + ), are not good enough, to lace BF's boots
Hey brothers been a fan for long time love the authenticity of this poddy - what’s your thoughts on a legends Indigenous game of league Maoris vs Aborigines before the indigenous all stars games I think this would be a grouse idea with likes of u playing against your old fo especially the triple Og and the fans would love it 😍 keen to hear your thoughts
All for players playing for somoa and Tonga but it would be nice to see kiwi players being able to play origin and then we will see more play kiwis, the tier system just sucks for kiwis
Scope and OG, as much I love the fact that the international game is growing, it’s only really growing in the southern hemisphere. I am the great grandson of Thomas Woods, who played 4 tests for Wales between 1921-23, rugby league has been in Wales since 1907, but it seems to be declining due to what I can only assume is finance. As I live in Australia now, I keep my eye on the super league, the only real welsh talent we had was Reagan grace of recent, and he switched to union. Being real, rugby league will never be popular in most European country’s, as union and soccer are most favoured, but rugby league has been in wales longer than Australia, and in France since 1934, I wish the SL or NRL would get the ball rolling into financially supporting the sweet f$&k! Out of England, Wales and France! With the pacific doing well, we need to see those 3 country’s get a boost, or they will just be forever chasing failure. Thoughts?
"NRL is better"-this "Super League is shit"-that, why can't we all come together as rugby league fans against the true enemy - people who INSIST rugby union is better
When origin is on do Tonga v Samoa and England v Nz Make the Nrl and Super League season shorter and at end of the year do Tri Nations Eng v Aus v NZ. Samoa v Tonga best of 3. Fiji PNG and Cook Island Pacific Cup. And in the Northern Hemisphere do a 7 Nations Competition Ireland Scotland Wales France Italy Lebanon Serbia
Don't get why samoa is going over to England to play, tonga did it last year, did anybody watch that game? It was on early in the morning, stuff that. It should be Samoa, Tonga, NZ, Australia and England going head to head end of year comp best of the best, best in the world.

I’ve got a season ticket at Leeds United and I would of loved to have gone to that England game , stupid by them do it all the time making fans like me not able to watch it
Probably because of Soccers Stranglehold of the Working class in England, not like that in Australia and New Zealand.
@@joeburns9676 it’s funny you should say that mate, me and my cousin and two mates were all in a what’s app group a couple of days ago and I suggested going to England v Samoa at Headingley that Saturday and we were about to buy tickets online then my mate realised it’s on same time as Leeds Utd and only me not going to Leeds game so we scrapped the idea as they didn’t wanna miss Leeds which is understandable especially given price of their season tickets… fine example there of poor work from RFL
Good shit again lads ❤
Tonga vs Samoa vs nzl would be a great tri nations comp especially playing it in nzl ( as well as aus ) and then England vs Australia in a best of 3 type of comp .
damonoconnell8919
No England is garbage
NZ AUS SAM TON playing each other but we need neutral refs and NOT AUSTRALIAN REFEREES 😳🤷🏼♂️ Lol
@@fu8713 I wouldn’t say England is garbage ….. just think it’d be easier to have games in nzl if we knew aus and eng would still be playing in aus , but agree the four countries you’ve mentioned would be great viewing
The Tonga,Samoa and Kiwis series is happening next year unless one of those two in the current pacific championship gets demoted this year but I highly doubt they will
@@fu8713NZ garbage? Kiwis thrashed Kangaroos last game 😂 your ignorance is garbage
Samoa vs Tonga would sell out Eden park
Boys would be keen your thoughts on the idea of bring back the Anzac Day Test Match and playing Tonga v Samoa before it.
Tonga v Samoa into Australia v NZ on the one night would be a sell out and an amazing event to attend
Really enjoy Big Mase on the pod, but can you teach him the difference between digress and regress please.

@fu8713 peace to you brother. Hopefully you find some happiness in life.
A lot of those players are half/half though. I wish the same with the Maori players making up a Maori team to play. Kalyan ponga and Walsh at kiwis we would dominate.

In regards to your top 10 centres scope,
If trell turbo and hammer were full time centres where would they rank in your top 10?
Love the pod L1 from day one! ☝🏽
G'day lads, couple of Melbourne based North queensland supporters here from ireland, absolutely love the podcast and the game, you and big willie have took or knowledge of the game to next level and mad us fall more in love with it and helped us gain more respect for the players and what they go through, keep it up lads best nrl podcast about.. also are use doing the run club Melbourne cup week in albert agian, would love to get involved and meet 2 legends of the sport ? #GOTHECOWBOYS

Really? Wow you been living in a cave lol
Mossie is used especially for those ones who go ever there and act all plastic, and Fia Palagi. I guess the Samoan version should now be Sossie.
Also Otahuhu vs Otara in the stands

With all the big injuries in the half’s for Australia in the pacific nations. Do you guys think Mal should have considered being in Bevan French? He has been in form and probably the best player in the super league. What he did in the grand final was crazy.
Cheers
Is he eligible for other nations? Be a good poach, any Samoan in him? 🤣
Big wiremu in a kiwis jersey would’ve gone haarrdddddd
Question for the Boys. Everyone talks about RADLEY playing origin. Question is who are you dropping out of the NSW squad so RADLEY can play? Yeo and Muarry already battle for that lock spot, and Yeo wins it every year. This locks Muarry onto an edge or, at worst, a bench spot, leaving Crichton and Martin to lock the edges or bench spot down. I just don't see RADLEY pipping any of those players and what they do for NSW.
Pacific Cup with full strength Maori, Indigenous, Tonga, Samoa, Fiji, Kuki's, & PNG teams.
Last of the good old biff in footy
Warbrick has to be top 4 for me.
Doesnt get targeted enough because they force feed Coates (which doesnt work) and Warbrick still is able to impact.
His defence is average but having Meaney inside him hasn't helped.
Imagine his output if he was utilised as a number 1 target.
Random question but Willie what do you remember from the Alex McKinnon incident. Long time follower, love the pody !
Honestly think England & NZ need to have a mid season series while Origin is on.
Otherwise NZ are just going to keep getting pounded losing guys to 2nd tier nations because they can still play Origin
Then have exactly what Scope is saying happens with the Tri series & a Pacific cup series.
Where was Bradman Best rated? 3 cool. I get the Crichton chat but they basically swapped for Alomotti Penrith did ok
I’m hoping Tonga can get one over Aussies but I’m a bit nervous with their spine
I find it hard to believe, that French, wouldn't get into at least six NRL teams. Players in those teams ( earning half a million AUD + ), are not good enough, to lace BF's boots
Skip, did you see the hello sport v ben davis giggle, davis reckons joey never dominated at origin 👀

How is Staggs even in the top 10, Ramien and Iro both had better seasons and not even close
AFB can’t play Origin or for Australia cos he’s played 1 test for NZ
When origin is on do Tonga v Samoa and England v Nz
Make the Nrl and Super League season shorter and at end of the year do Tri Nations Eng v Aus v NZ.
Hey fellas all this drama re broncos and Ezra and the issues previously with Trindal and Josh testing positive to drugs and or alcohol. It is not great for people that their local communities may look upto.
