Thanks for the video, concise and well done, I would never have thought to look inside the gear linkage cover box. An engineer friend once said to me that he would sack someone in his team for designing something like that.

@@paulkemp4559 the Mk6 fiesta is by no means a modern car anymore but i do question a lot of design choices of cars from that 2000’s era, like for example how the power steering lines run over the gearbox housing and are bolted to it and the inaccessible nature of the water pump fuel pump and abs pump

You need the biggest can of brake cleaner ever made to clean all that oil off everywhere.

I read not to open the bottom plug as it's not intended as a drain plug. How accurate that is I don't know.
Also you jacking the car up like that limits how much drains out from the gearbox.

Personally I would raise the whole car level enough to work on with 4 axle stands with two heavy Jack's as a back up , and make sure you do it all when the oils are hot so it runs out faster and easier.

well it worked didnt it lol, why else would it be there i understand it may be some sort of bearing for the gears, but its fine, since its in netrual lol

@@Harryd06 "That is not just a bolt but the locking bolt of the selector shaft. I have seen before that people who used this bolt to drain the gearbox ended up disassembling the gearbox because they could not get the bolt back in because parts of the selector mechanism came loose inside the gearbox.
Personally I would not use this locking bolt to drain the gearbox. Ford does not prescribe any method to drain the gearbox because it is considered to be filled for life."
