1st and 2nd hard when it's cold? The Ford MTX75 often struggles going into 1st and 2nd when it's cold outside (less than 10°c). Opie oils recommend 75w80 which helps as its a thinner oil. Ford now fill the MTX75 with just 75w (even thinner than 75w80 or the original 75w90). 👆 this saved my car from the scrapyard
2011 an older manual trans MTX75 could use either DCT fluid (XT-11-QDC) or MT Full Syn 75W-90 gear oil (XT-M5-QS) but 2012-2020 should only use DCT fluid. FYI
For my 2015 Focus with Man Trans the “Trans” code on the VIN sticker is a “Z” indicating it’s a “MTX75”. The linked Motorcraft Trans fluid guide states the “MTX75” uses the “Dual Clutch Automatic Fluid” part # “XT-11-QDC” spec “WSS-M2C200-D2”. Owners manual states same. Dealer stated same. FYI www.motorcraft.com/content/dam/ford-motorcraft/en_us/motorcraft_global/products/lubricants/quick_reference_charts/manual%20transmission%20fluid%20chart.pdf
Note that this only applies to the 2 litre models, not smaller engines which have iB5 transmissions and no drain plug! You cannot drain their oil unless you remove a driveshaft.
Correctly worded, should be checked with a leveler. Car can be on jack stands and still be level. Living in mountains and hills you have to improvise with out a lift. However you have to do so, not compromising safety of yourself or reliability of the vehicle.
@@jw18xxx I did this today on my Ford Focus Mk1, if you know where to reach for then you don't need any lifting of the vehicle at all 😊. The first time you can lift the car up to the point that you've seen where all the clips and bolts are. Then let it down and do it
Valvoline is the best you can get for your engine and transmission.
It has a very good protection.
Ravenol is even better

Hey , great video! The weird thing is that I can't find 2 plugs on their diagram . do you have the part numbers ?
I did mine today after 77k miles. It was a pig of a job on the 2 litre diesel cmax.
please does this apply to the ford focus. 1.6 2009 gasoil
Ford recommends oil to MTX75 : 75W90

Hey. Good video. Did the filler and drain plugs had washer? If so did you replace them?
+Francziszek Kimono thanks. No washers, just the plugs. Cheers
Do you fill it till it starts to spill out mate?
+Tiocfaidh Arla You sure do. About 1.9 litres.
+Badgertronix thanks a lot mate I'm doing mine right now just wasn't sure thanks for the vid it's been really helpful 👍🏻
@@Badgertronix 1.9 quarts , not liters.
Nope, 1.9 litres
Nice, how much time between the changes?
+Thales Silveira I'm not sure that there's an official service interval. I change it every 2 years or 50,000kms
What year/model. I thought the MTX75 required expensive Ford Motorcraft XT-M5-QS
Plenty of alternatives on the oil finder
@@Badgertronix oil finder??
Pick your favourite oil brand and check their website for oil recommendations for that gearbox...

Interesting. The MTX75 has been around since the early 90s. Long before DCT fluid was ever a thing.
Thx i have answer there is oil under the battery in ford foucs2007 ?
fadi k your battery is leaking motor oil you need to replace the battery camshaft seal
Is this useful also for the Volvo V50 1.6D? I believe it has a ford focus engine as well
Probably similar for most manual transmission vehicles
Exactly the same transmission at least on my 2010 model.
Great tutorial thank you!
+Gunner459 glad it helped. Thanks!
is this the same gearbox that is in a Mazda Tribute?
+Jackson Cruz not sure. Could be, some Ford and Mazda stuff is the same
How is valvoline better than motorcraft or mobil-1 gear oil?
+filoIII personal preference. I like valvoline, those other oils are good too. Cheers!
@robbie turnbull the Motorcraft fluid is 75w90 full synthetic. Anything else that meets that spec should work.
Thanks!
Cheers for watching!

This was a 1.8 tdci
@@Badgertronix thanks. Sorry, I didn't realise it was diesel. My comment relates to the petrol engines. (I'm English. petrol=gasoline)
So my 2007 1.6 petrol, I would have to remove the driveshaft in order to drain it?.

The car should be level when checking the oil level, not up on stands
You should watch the video then you would see it was level

Ok greater but where is the explosion?
