The prices of some of these drones I recommend 👌 having a GPS. Our hobby is not getting cheaper. Thank you for your time and effort to make this hobby enjoyable 😉.
Hi Lee, Great video and information about Betaflight GPS, I just finished my 7in Source one lr and I have Betaflight right now and it works great for my needs. But someday I would like to try INAV. Thanks for the video and information.
One question I have is when you talk about adding telemetry onto your display, how do you choose which options you want to show and how do you place them where you want them on the screen?
so I am building a drone that has the Speedybee F405V4 with the RDQ Mach 3 VTX, and a HappyModel 2.4Ghz ELRS receiver, Phoenix 2SP cam. I haven't picked a GPS yet because I am still not sure what I need. I'm not ready for stunt flying and more interested in the video aspect. If I am understanding these videos correctly, INAV is more along the line of what I would need. I want my drone to come home and also hover in position. Do I need a GPS with a compass and magnetometer? I was looking at this one for my build if compatible GEPRC GEP-M10-DQ Series GPS Module. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Would you possibly share the stl file. I am building this exact frame for my dad. I am also using the Matek gps and having a hard time finding a mount.
I have added an m10 gps unit and i am able to see satellites in my osd but my speed and altitude are not registering am i missing something? Do i need the model with compass for that? Thanks.
What is that gps model? I want to make sure I buy the right model that is compatible with speedybee f7 v3, I bought a HGLRCM10 with compass and was not compatible:( I want someone that have the same FC that recommend one. Thank you advanced
Is there any way to make gps lock faster? I would like to use it, but if i wait for gps lock on nazgul eco dc 5, it drains about 50% of 1550mAh battery. I have about half of flight time comparing to the normal start, without waiting for GPS to lock. This is silly :|
Modern GPS units that are M10 based lock faster in the testing here. I did make a little 5v plug for my older quads that allowed me to power the GPS for a few mins to lock BEFORE plugging in the flight battery... I've just swapped one of my older quads to an M10 GPS for this very reason..
Is there any way to get the telemetry off of a betaflight drone to a computer via telemetry? Would be neat to track a drones flight path with software during the flight.
You should be able to, using logs or saved telemetry. See th-cam.com/video/9f0ApQtwop8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ot4q-YRS0WvAP_at for how I do it with INAV.... Happy flying
Maby one day if you have some time, could you make a video about converting all the pids and settings to inav or arducoper? i just can't get my drone flying as good as it does on betaflight on the other systems
@@Painless360 No sir, same gps but its on a Source One v5. If you are okay with it, may I try to retrofit/change it? I am new to cad design so it would be a big help.
Hi, i have configured everything but after locking in to 25+ sats on it but in osd compass its pointing 20-30 degrees off when pointed to north. Is it going to be problem ? And if it is how do i correct it ? Gps is mounted on rear leg on right just mentioning for info.
@ i thought gps have everything. This is my first build. I have geprc m1024q gps installed. I did not find anything on betaflight for calibration watched most of tutorials on gps. Though drone is hovering stable without any filter or pid tuning. Let’s see how does it do if i try it on larger space. I need full flight test to be done. So far everything looks normal except home point direction of osd but i didn’t fly it more to 10 meters distance.

An overview of INAV compass setup would be awesome. I use INAV on my fixed wings, but have never used it with a quad.
Compass setup video is already out. Preview of the full INAV quad setup here th-cam.com/video/7Z8QPXio-i8/w-d-xo.html
@@Painless360 Thanks for the info.
Perfect timing, I just built a 7” with the same stack and GPS just the config to do - which you’ve just massively help with thank you!
Thanks!
Fantastic tutorial, Lee! Thanks a lot! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Works really well on BF 4.5, all we need now is ''altitude hold'' or some sort of parking mode
Tricky to do traditionally without using a compass... Happy flying

Thanks for the comment. GPS is a must for LR quads, great example... Happy flying
What is the precision of the altitude by GPS only ?
Thanks for this great video!
Pretty good, easily accurate enough for most hobby flying... Happy flying
I get hungry, every time I understand you say Pizzaflight 😂 Thank you very much for the Videos, I learned a lot
Brilliant thanks

For FPV? So it appears over the top of the video in your goggles?
@@Painless360 ok, thanks 😊

Of course! Seasons Greetings and best wishes for the coming year! www.thingiverse.com/thing:6888644

You don't need a compass... Best of luck
Why is it mounted at an angle? (Especially if that makes setting compass trickier.)
When a Quad is flying forwards, the GPS is level... Happy flying

Good ❤
Would you be open to posting your design of the gps mount?
I wasn't planning to as it is very specific to the GPS and frame. Are you using the exact same stuff?

I have a beitian bn220 gps, should i use ublox or nmea?
Noth should work but the default is NMEA if I recall. You can't hurt anything by trying the one it won't work with..
Can you add stl files for double anthenna mount ? :)
The one I'm using is the one that came with it. I am not sure I am following....
I want betaflight hover.
