You need to make this a series!!! I have the same story as you, one of my drones is resting in Hällingsåfallet, 2 seconds flight :))))). keep up with the good work!
bro, first of all. I appreciate the insane amount of work that went into this video. pure dedication. secondly, this is an AMAZING video! I enjoyed all 30 minutes of it dude. GREAT JOB
I think that Peter painted a bad picture of FPV and I dislike this video. I watched it all and am greatly disappointed with Peter. I like his stuff but I do not like how he makes fpv look like. I was 15 when I built my drone with less knowledge then Peter had access to. I consider myself farther ahead then Peter even though I am only 16. Peter is just a rich dude who can throw all his money at FPV without doing research, watching @Joshua Bardwell, and just buys BNF's and hopes for the best.
Love this video! As an fpv pilot of 5 years… you feel the pain when everyone else goes through the fails. I have the same controller and have a standardised setup for all. Same arm switch etc.. thanks for the content!
I understand how much time (and money) was spent making this very informative video, Peter! I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you! We are so lucky to have you and other creators share their experiences, stories and information FOR FREE.
My tip for 17:25, even when you have a beeper and it could be a bit too quiet. So watch the before lost footage in the googles, go to the area and run the motors from time to time, they are pretty loud and you hear them from farer away than the beeper + a gps is not that expensive
Great video! love seeing more fpv content. Fly the 7" with Lion instead of lipo much longer flytime for long range. Also get a vifly beeper to add to all your fpv drones for a beeper that even works if the battery is dead or falls off.
I really hope that 14:49min was a bit of a wakeup call to any beginner out there that you should be MUCH MUCH more comfortable flying smaller FPV Drones not just fpv but also LOS (line of sight) before switching over to the bigger drones. They are HELLA dangerous, especially if you don't have complete control over youre drones yet...
Yea The lack of sim time straight to an 7” x8 is insane. Definitely either really brave (with money) or stupid. Very well put together video though but less than a year in fpv to a cinelifter is just insane to me lol
This just motivates me even more to continue on my very own drone journey. I'm new to fpv and have purchased the Radiomaster TX12 MII and the LYFT simulator. Been practicing on that for a couple weeks now. At the beginning, I had no idea on how to keep the drone steady and had many crashes. Since then, I am able to fly around and keep the drone stable, as well as fly through gaps and openings on occasion. I say this to say that, in hindsight, having started off on a simulator, I am glad that I listened to the experienced pilots in many of the videos I watched. I will just say that flying a toy drone is nothing like flying a real drone. Soon, I'll be purchasing all the parts required to build my very first drone.
I appreciate the massive amount of work, time and commitment to making not only this video but the skill required to fly FPV. Really cool to see the journey! 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾
Great video as always! Loved seeing my bro Kyle Watts! Curtis is also a great guy, so cool that you got to mentor him. I would never be able to fly FPV.....way too expensive for me. At the most maybe one day I will get an Avata lol. Long very detailed video! Glad you didn't loose the FX6, I was nervous just watching lol
_Damn_ how fast you grow up! From "Peter, do NOT fly FPV in manual without a simulator practice!" to "Ha! Im gonna fly a $13000+ gear in full manual just to make a TH-cam video for fun!" You're really sick about it, bro! And we love it!
awesome Video Peter! I loved watching this and seeing you going through all the phases of getting into FPV - as far as I can see you had a lot of fun which I recon is the correct way 🥳 Thank you for trying our FlowX V2 and KinomatiX! all the best from Switzerland.
*chants* Tiny whoops! Tiny whoops! Tiny whoops! Haha! I started practicing with a couple $100-$200 whoops that I smacked around in a warehouse a couple winters ago. Worked up to a 2.5" cinewhoop then to a 3.5" cinewhoop. Had to replace some of the prop-guards from crashes. Have yet to fly a 5". I plan to wait until there's more 5" with GPS installed, I'm in the US and in September if the drone is over 250g it will need GPS to output it's location. Feel ya on so many extra parts and tools to keep around in case of a crash. Keep on flying!
This has to be one of the best episodes you have done so far. So informative, story driven and edited on point. When I grow up I wanna be as close as good to ur content as u are. You are my inspiration and youtube idol. I remember still when u celebrated ur sub count below 10k and I loved ur stuff ever since. My offer still stands. Any time u come to Hawaii, hit me up so we can have some fun together ;) you are deeply appreciated. !!!!!
Hey Peter, I don't usually leave a comment on TH-cam, I've got goosebumps all the way while watching this video. I really appreciate you sharing your journey with us and now I am on my way to purchasing one for myself.
This video was amazing mate currently starting my journey got about 30hrs in liftoff! Going to rack up the hours until I build my first one and pass part 107 can’t wait to get this confident flying!!
Hats off for everyone that does this as a hobby. I started with fpv in early 2020. I kinda bought the wrong gear, digital fpv wasn‘t an opportunity that time and then I always crashed my drones because of signal loss. (Even sometimes 15m far away even tho I was flying 700m away right before without problems). I stopped flying my fpv drones because every time there is something wrong. And I was right. 1 week ago I wanted to fly again after a 1 year break aaaaand here we go again. First, my gimbal on the Remote Controller suddenly broke and sent wrong signals. Wanted to fix it myself but failed. Bought new gimbals and then finally I could fly again. Ohh no wait, there is some weird noise when I take off. Well, nevermind, I have to go back home and tighten my propellers…. And then finally I guess I made my last successful flights on my analog fpv drone. Now waiting for a new DJI FPV that I can buy and sell all my analog stuff. This hobby is really frustrating / time consuming and as you said: I just want to fly my drone and film with it 😅 Great video btw, I really like your videos!
sadly you get what you pay for, and its a steep learning curve to DIY. if you finally get a build to work and stop crashing, (safe landing practice) + (no issues) = lasting hardware. or you can spend the money up front and risk it, but then u have to be responsible for that expensive stuff and be aware of your own skill vs what the machine is doing for you.-
Amazing! I have been flying FPV for 10 years now 😅 your FPV journey video bring the memories back, 10 years ago we had Naze32 with manual PID tuning 🤣 not to forget the magic smoke with graveyard of ESCs, burned so many VTX by powering on without antenna on then thinking my range sucks 🤣now I come to think how much I appreciate being able to fly, by end of your video I can see how much you learned from all the mistakes but kept going. Welcome to the FPV world!
Hey Peter, great video, I was hooked the whole way through. Being an FPV pilot myself I was a bit confused when the guy said there was a easier flying BNF. All FPV drones are essentially the same, all of them are manual, have no assistance apart from the level modes in betaflight, no obstacale avoidance, etc. They all pretty much fly the same. The only real difference between drones are the quality of their electronics, frames, and other components but they all fly relatively the same.
Tusen takk Peter. Så utrolig digg å se deg utfordre deg selv slik du gjør - jeg lærer noe nytt fra deg hver gang!! Gleder meg til å se hva du kommer til å lage med det monstret av en drone!! :)
Hey absolutely love your stuff, coming from a 14 yo with almost 3 years of experience with fpv, it’s a sad reality for each and everyone of us that we will lose drone at some point, especially for those who do not have the financial support to do it (me). You are definitely one of the most determined and richest pilots I’ve seen, having to break and lose quads. Many quit after their first crash or faliure. But ur very rich, basically starting off with the o3 while most pilots start off with a mini whoop and a eachine box goggles. Anyways your doing soooo well, keep up the good work my dawg❤❤❤ (also, I would recommend the ExpressLRS system just because it’s cheaper and I think way better than crossfire, although you need to fiddle around with the settings and updating software a bit, if you decide to switch, use a rm boxer or a tx16s with rm ranger module)
Love this long format video ! I could feel the pain of watching your moments of losing your drones. I've been there and it can cost a lot at first. I guess we don't know what we don’t know and we learn by crashing and practicing. But its very nice to watch your journey and it's only the beginning, so please keep sharing with us. It help the community and newbies ✌👌
Woooow ! I've been waiting for this video for so long ! Currently struggling at the Betaflight stage ahah. Congrats for your consistency man, really impressed !
This was fantastic! Love the hobby but you're right. The cost and technical barrier to entry can be quite high but it's worth it for the adrenaline rush.
When you mentioned a David with years of fpv experience my first thought was David Windestal. I was wrong but great storytelling and journey! Been staring down this path myself, about 11 hrs in liftoff so far
Peter..nice recap of your FPV journey. Been following the entire time. Don’t feel to bad…I’ve made these same mistakes myself. Lost two 5” FPV quads (with GoPro) in a single trip to Oregon coastline. Did exactly what you did on one of them and accidentally disarmed mid flight. Right into Pacific Ocean off a 100 foot cliff. Yeah…that one stung a bit! But had to do it! The scenery was just too epic to resist. Your killing it lately..keep up the great work! Still watching. 😎😎😎
Nice work, Peter! I appreciate the consistency! I'm on your path now - I've started with the DJI FPV and now I want to do more in depth of manual FPV! Keep it up!
At first I thought this was just about the cinelifter, but I'm so happy you shared your whole journey with us! Looking forward to what comes next in your FPV journey here's mine so far.. I got into FPV a few months ago and spent all that time in the sim. My first FPV drone came in yesterday (defender 25 from iflight). I spent so much time making sure I had everything prepared and wouldn't make a rookie mistake. I fly with pitch and yaw inversed (not sure why but this felt normal to me while in the sim) I learned the hard way that the parameters for AERT are 0123 instead of 1234 (in the CLI of betaflight) so long story short, I inverted my throttle and as soon as i disarmed, it launched into the ceiling lol. Bent back the plastic and got it flying again thankfully. every day that is rainy or snowing is a day I can't fly my drone, but I love this hobby so much. Can't wait to get more
fantastic video. its great hearing your fpv journey in a well edited story. getting into fpv myself, started with the DRL simulator at the moment. but shopping right now for a drone. very exciting :D
One of the rare videos from someone that i have not ever watched before and managed to keep my intrest for whole half hour 😳💪🏻👌🔥🔥 Great video! Thanks for sharing your fpv experience! I totally agree about the expensive part too 🤣💸💸💸
I would recommend using model matching on your Crossfire. I use it on my RS system and LOVE IT!! You can have setting for each drone be different, but if you are not selected to the correct model, nothing happens. You cannot arm or fly the drone.
I really enjoyed your journey here and can relate to quite a bit of it. I lost a quad a few years ago, never to be seen since. I had just put a GPS module on it but I was so excited to try the FPV that I didn't take the time to set it up. I used Inav instead of beta flight because of the features I wanted. I went up, lost my orientation, then lost camera signal. Took the goggles off to try to spot it, but no luck. Had I taken to time to set up the GPS features such as 'position hold' and 'return to home', I will have been better off. This experience, however, gave me the opportunity to rebuild better. I upgraded to the best FC board which could support two cameras, so now I have a camera looking straight down along with the normal forward pointing cam. I can switch between them from the transmitter.
Yo, Peter. This is EPIC. I've just moved from the UK to Northern Sweden (mostly a wildlife cameraperson). If you want to come and play drones and shoot something up near Åre in the next couple of weeks, I've got plenty of space up here!
I just wanted to point out an error, the antenna of your radio should be in the same orientation as the antenna on the drone to get the best lq, eg horizontal to horizontal, vertical to vertical
I just took a dive into the FPV rabbit hole. I'm starting with a Cinelog20 with DJI O3 and a Paco Pivo; both for client interior hotel shots and close proximity exterior to add to my Ronin 4D footage. Tango 2 Pro and Goggle 2 also on order. I'm excited and scared. At age 49...it FEELS GREAT! Wish me luck.
Alltså du... Before getting my first drone (will be a DJI Air 3, next month, getting my drone licence right now), i'm also practicing in Liftoff. The first 30 minutes... "This is fuckin impossible, what the hell are these controls, why doesnt it auto-hover or auto-stabilize like a cinematic drone, nobody can fly this, what a useless piece of arcade nonsense" Alt F4'd, felt like, if this is actually a sim, if this is how drones fly IRL, i'm not interested anymore. ..... Loaded it up again an hour later, out of sheer anger and frustration and stubbornness. Now i have just 3 hours total in the game / sim, and i'm now flying in through buildings and doing loops between construction cranes. The most important part was getting the rate limits or exponents set right. I aim to have around 30hrs total by next month when i get my actual drone. And i realize that the Air 3 is very "easy" to fly for beginners due to essentially being fly-by-wire in normal mode and sport mode. But i figured it's better to suffer and train in "hard mode" first, to be as best prepared as you can be. If this really is a sim, if flying a drone is somewhat similar, then i absolutely understand why you crashed your whole room in that first FPV indoor test. It feels literally impossible the first half hour. And if i had done the first half hour with a REAL drone (in manual mode), i'd be -$1k And just to think about this too, if i had refunded Liftoff and ditched the drone idea, i would never have gotten where i WILL get to in 2+ years down the line. (Yeah, famous last / first words, but its good to give your future self some incentive to not fuck things up by setting expectations.)
Hey man for the 7 inch, the motors are actually waterproof, so those will still be good as well. The ESCs, FC, VTX, receiver and fpv camera might have been damaged, but many of these parts come with conformal coating to prevent water damage. Dry it out and see if anything still works. Plug the FC into betaflight first, if it lights up and shows data that is good. Next plug it in with the real battery, see if the motors all spin up, if they do the ESCs are good and so is the receiver. Check FPV video and if you don't see any video then it is likely the camera or VTX.
Yooo! Hope you liked the long video format!
Who's ready for more FPV?
Always more fpv, it’s a drug be careful 😂
You need to make this a series!!! I have the same story as you, one of my drones is resting in Hällingsåfallet, 2 seconds flight :))))). keep up with the good work!

Thanks bro, appreciate you watching the whole thing! I'm still not confidently flying the FX6 lol!
samesame I'm just getting started w/ building my 1st quad after seeing cinematic FPV shots, this was gold and super enjoyable
Relax
Only people who put together you tube videos know the effort involved.

You gave up?😮
I understand how much time (and money) was spent making this very informative video, Peter!

Just getting into FPV and this was some of the best content I've seen on TH-cam about FPV. Thank you so much for this.
It was a big pleasure to watch this almost Feature Film about starting FPV. Thank you Peter!
Great video as always! Loved seeing my bro Kyle Watts! Curtis is also a great guy, so cool that you got to mentor him. I would never be able to fly FPV.....way too expensive for me. I sure did! Was a lot of trail and error haha... The drone is SICK
@@PeterLindgren1 try to use a smaller battery on the flowx like a 1400 6s or something.. will blow your mind even more ;)
@@houseofdrones I have tried! Not interested in flying acrobatic though, just long range cinematic =)
Peter! I see you're experimenting with a new style of editing/storytelling. Well: experiment succeeded 🔥🔥🔥

*This has reconfirmed my faith in just sticking to DJI FPV / Avata!*
This video was amazing mate currently starting my journey got about 30hrs in liftoff! Going to rack up the hours until I build my first one and pass part 107 can’t wait to get this confident flying!!
FPV has a very steep learning curve. We've all lost our fpv drones at some point. Respect dude!!!
27:42 I am not joking when I tell you my heart dropped
Nice job! Really exciting!!! Appreciate you going all in to teach us!!
Man it's so awesome seeing some of my favorite content creators getting into FPV! Sick vid!
Thanks bro! Mopre to come this year for sure!
Great to hear your POV on FPV 🙌
Amazing video ! FPV from learning to fly to making a video is endless learning curve and that's what so amazing!
What a life you're leading here.

Hey Peter, a lot of work and planning went into the making of this video, so really well done for that!
Joshua Bardwell does an AMAZING job describing EACH AND EVERY option in BetaFlight!!
Omg. The mostest awesomeness video I’ve seen in a while!!

best story telling video I enjoyed watching from the beginning until the end :)

fantastic video. its great hearing your fpv journey in a well edited story. getting into fpv myself, started with the DRL simulator at the moment. but shopping right now for a drone. very exciting :D
One of the rare videos from someone that i have not ever watched before and managed to keep my intrest for whole half hour 😳💪🏻👌🔥🔥
Great video! Thanks for sharing your fpv experience!
I totally agree about the expensive part too 🤣💸💸💸
Haha thanks! Yeah… it’s A LOT of money lol
Inspiring stuff Peter! One of my favorites from you. Way to PUSH yourself.
More FPV please.
Absolutely coming. Got some trips planned for the year =)
I would recommend using model matching on your Crossfire. I use it on my RS system and LOVE IT!! You can have setting for each drone be different, but if you are not selected to the correct model, nothing happens. You cannot arm or fly the drone.
Love the fresh style of this video! Nice story telling!
Bro this video is awesome! 🔥 Never seen FPV in action before coming to Sweden, ace to see, thanks dude! 🤙
amazing amount of work and learning went into this, thank you Pete!
for this vid, you deserve a million views, and I think, this is prolly my first comment ever, deserved like and sub.
Amazing video, very awesome to see the whole traject!
Love how you put this video together, super entertaining! Footage turned out dope 👊
Congratulations on a superb video! Inspiring!
Love your Videos. You always inspire me to keep going
"well.. guess we just have to send it"
Respect.
Good job Peter. Nice machine!!!👍👍👍
Verkligen en kanonvideo! Välgjord som vanligt och kul att få hänga med från start till slut! 🙌 Välkommen till fpv världen 😊😎
Nice to see you fly fpvframe drones. They‘ve got there office 5min from my place. Very cool guys with great knowledge!
Such a smooth drone!
love the concept, but the FX6 footage from the x8 quad flight did i miss it ? please give time markers.
At the end

Amazing brotha!! Great video!! 🥳🥳
I just wanted to point out an error, the antenna of your radio should be in the same orientation as the antenna on the drone to get the best lq, eg horizontal to horizontal, vertical to vertical
everything is AWESOME
I just took a dive into the FPV rabbit hole. I'm starting with a Cinelog20 with DJI O3 and a Paco Pivo; both for client interior hotel shots and close proximity exterior to add to my Ronin 4D footage. Tango 2 Pro and Goggle 2 also on order. I'm excited and scared. At age 49...it FEELS GREAT! Wish me luck.
Good luck 🫡!
Alltså du...
Before getting my first drone (will be a DJI Air 3, next month, getting my drone licence right now), i'm also practicing in Liftoff.
The first 30 minutes... "This is fuckin impossible, what the hell are these controls, why doesnt it auto-hover or auto-stabilize like a cinematic drone, nobody can fly this, what a useless piece of arcade nonsense"
Alt F4'd, felt like, if this is actually a sim, if this is how drones fly IRL, i'm not interested anymore.
And if i had done the first half hour with a REAL drone (in manual mode), i'd be -$1k
And just to think about this too, if i had refunded Liftoff and ditched the drone idea, i would never have gotten where i WILL get to in 2+ years down the line.
(Yeah, famous last / first words, but its good to give your future self some incentive to not fuck things up by setting expectations.)
Can we talk about the "first video" with custom quad? That was impressive!
This game me so much anxiety! 😂 May your drones rest in peace 🪦
Being in one of your vlogs is on my bucket list. Someday!
Great video Peter. You put lots of afford, money and time to make videos on TH-cam.. Keep it up and keep teaching us about camera stuffs.
