The fact that Gordo literally put himself in the danger zone for Lizzie and then got Isabella to trust him enough to work a plan to save Lizzie from Paolo while Lizzie was just being...there...is the reason why I have high standards.
The weirdest thing about the "What Dreams Are Made Of" song, is that the album version was fully sung by Hilary, even the high notes. They dubbed her only on the movie version lol
The dubbing continues to fascinate me to this day. It's clearly an unnecessary mix of Hilary and Haylie Duff, but mixed in a way where they hoped nobody would notice? I understand they wanted there to be similarities in the singing of Lizzie and Isabella, but for the final performance when Lizzie remains on stage, it's so unnecessary.
i always forget that she was graduating middle school and not high school. so not only was paolo like 17- a senior in high school while lizzie is like 14, but also who gets a trip to italy after graduating middle school. i literally got a t-shirt :(
@@nealbrook4226 Most people I know were 14 when they graduated middle school and someone who was held back or entered into the school system a bit later could easily be 15
Fun fact: The actor who plays Gordo (Adam Lamberg) is older than the actor who plays Paolo (Yani Gellman). Hilliary Duff's real age at the release of this movie was 15 while Yani Gellman's age was 17 in real life. Adam Lamberg's real life age was 18. Not to invalidate all the creepy vibes in that interaction in the movie, but just thought that was interesting.
I think the dubbed voice in “What Dreams are Made Of” is Haylie Duff. I wonder if they initially planned to have the whole song be a duo between Lizzie and Isabella and then later chose to focus on Lizzie for the majority of it. 🤷♀️
It would make a lot more sense that way tho, I always wondered why Isabella just vanished, it's her show. and also, how come the fans just accepted Lizzie when they were there to see Isabella
In the movie's defense, Paolo is meant to be 17, and the TV show states that Lizzie started highschool at 15. So it's a two year difference where they are both minors still. He's still an older guy with ulterior motives, but it isn't a legal adult preying on a minor at least. -shrug-
They did add Haylie but only for the last three lines of the song. Everything else was Hilary. 🥴 but yeah! She sounds great so I’m not quite sure why! My only guess is that Hilary never recorded that part but Haylie did, so they added it in. 🤷🏽♀️
i just read that the whole final song was meant to be a duet of her and isabella so her parts were hayley singing so when they changed it last minute..they left her vocals in and that’s why it’s someone else shot from behind
Okay some clarifications! The parts where Lizzie is dubbed is “Isabella” still helping her throughout the song but just letting her have the stage. Also Paolo is supposed to be a teen too, not a grown man😂
Btw if anyone is interested this place with the fountains (13:39) isn't actually in Rome but in Tivoli not too far outside of Rome and it's called Villa D'Este - in case any of you go and visit ;)

Have you seen 'Raise Your Voice', with Hillary Duff? It's so great! The songs are good too! Thought I'm not sure if it would be a great movie to watch on this channel, considering how sad it is... 😥
i just got a vivid flashback to this movie. i'd completely forgotten about it. thanks for reminding me of it, i'll have to go back and rewatch because it's been like, seven years since i first watched it.
20 YEARS, I’m getting old…holy cow! I mean I guess the fashion speaks for itself, belly shirts and belly rings. So many great moments though! - I LOVED the opening with her dancing & singing into the hairbrush. Also because I could see myself falling in a bathtub. - “Shut your pie hole!” I loved her - The fashion show was also a fav, she was basically Lady GaGa before Lady GaGa was a thing. - “Sing To Me Paolo”-Iconic - Isabella had the better outfit in my opinion. However, the outfit change is awesome, the lights, dance and when she says “technicolor” I love how the memories never go away, if a song comes on you sing it exactly how it was + the motions.
Even though Lizzie McGuire was geared towards girls I could still relate to her in a sense like in this movie she gets nervous when she has to speak in front of every one at the graduation. Growing up I HATED having to stand up in front of the class and give a presentation or just read. Thankfully it never happened that often.
I remember that, on the final song when the dancers showed up I was with my mouth open and with the biggest grin on my face LOL, I LOVED them! I still love to see the dancers! lmao, they make me happy, period.
I'm eating pasta and garlic bread while watching this and was feeling a little guilty at all the carbs so Hannah's message about eating carbs was so perfect thank you
“Oh no the consequences of my actions” lmfao I LOST IT! 😂😂😂 Also, could you explain how Paolo achieved that mix sound? What’s a dominant mix? And the harmony that followed.
I think what she mean by head dominant mix is that while he is mixing his chest voice in his singing he leaning more into his head voice so you hear a little more of the lightness in his tone. You can TH-cam exercise centered on developing your chest voice and head voice and then work towards mixing, and then you have variety of having an even mix, head dominant, or chest dominant mix. He’s singing the lower part. If you can find a video that isolates or boosts the volume on his voice you can hear and learn that harmony.

Thank you for pointing out Paolo's grooming behavior. Even as a survivor advocate, I really didn't see just how bad it is in this movie's plot. Lizzie says "no" over and over again to Paolo's fantastical plans, but he continually ignores and guilts her for having boundaries. Not to mention him intentionally manipulating her into replacing his ex AND embarrassing her on an international level. He makes Lizzie feel special and valued, but views her as a secondary character in his narrative and a means to an end. All of this on top of the age gap according to the story. The difference between being 13 years old and 17 years old is generally pretty big in terms of maturity and life experience. I guess I overlooked that because Hilary Duff was 15 and Yani Gellman (Paolo) was 17 when this came out, and they both looked like they were close in age. - Side note: my ADHD went all in on verifying all of these dates on imdb 😆 So thank you again for naming those unhealthy behaviors, in other videos as well. I think it helps young people recognize those relationship red flags. I'll add that love-bombing (overwhelming a partner with compliments, affection, gifts, etc.) is a common strategy for coercion and can mark the beginning of an abusive cycle. It can feel super romantic, but if one or both people's boundaries are repeatedly dismissed or ignored then there needs to be a conversation about respect for consent. Okay, that concludes my speech! Lol. (I still feel nostalgic for this movie though, so many iconic moments and fashion choices. Please no one @ me for being a hater 🥺)

I'm pretty sure with the stuff with Hilary being intermixed with another voice, it's still Haylie and they were going to have a way longer performance where Isabella and Lizzie were both on stage for all of it, but it changed during filming and they didn't rerecord the music track.
"You remember her Metamorphosis album? How life changing that was?" YES. YES I DO. I feel like that CD permanently lived in my little portable CD player. Truly the soundtrack of my formative years.
Not a DCOM but it is made with Disney legend Alan Manken. Galavant! It's a musical show that lasted 2 season with 30 min episodes. Big Disney movie energy, great cast, fantastic plot, what more could you wish for? Highly recommend
In my high school Italian class, this was the go-to movie my teacher would put on during bludge days. She used to giggle at the way Lizzie's bum giggles in the final number.
The pure joy on the dancers and Lizzies face is just so radiant like they look like they are having so much fun :,)) LET IT SHINE NEXT PLZ💓💓💓or Starstruck those are two really really good DCOM musicals !!!
i'm surprised my sister didn't hide the metamorphosis album from me at one point. she came into my room and was like "ok. enough. it finishes and you put it back from the start. it's the forth time in a row today. it's the same thing every day. enough" 😂😂😂😂😂
Hannah, I laugh every single time at that last shot at the concert with the obvious voice dub and even more obvious wig. This is one of my comfort movies, I've seen it at least a dozen times in full and I laugh everryyyy time 😂 Also I'm dying to see you react to some songs from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend!! There's so much good stuff there but maybe something by Paula like Face your Fears or After Everything I've Done for You or Maybe this Dream! Esp bc then you can compare reprises done by the main character Rebecca later for Face your Fears and After Everything You Made me Do and compare them!
I'll be 32 in October and Metamorphosis is still legit one of my absolute all-time favorite albums. When Urban Outfitters released the vinyl pressing, I IMMEDIATELY bought it and Hilary's hair was like. My ultimate goals at 13 and I'm still convinced that hairstyle and color is what I look best in (and cherry red hair - look, Hayley Williams' hair in the Decode video was ultimate!!!!), and just AAAAAAH THIS MOVIE. Also it was so nice to see Kate actually be... kinda nice for like, once??? lol Teenage me also had the high standard of wanting a boyfriend like Gordo and well, I got my Gordo at 28 and we're still together
I did What Dreams Are Made Of in my 6th grade talent show with my best friend in coordinated limited too cargos, camis, and newsboy caps. it was iconic, I still remember the dance
I have never seen this before (it literally came out when I was *3*), but I still was able to mouth along to the entire chorus of the "what dreams are made of" song. It's apparently that iconic😂.
A Hilary Duff fan who listened to Come Clean on repeat. You have just gone up in my world. I listened to Metamorphosis and her self-titled album on repeat. I still do.
Hilary Duff was an ICON. I loved her on her show then on Raise Your Voice, in Cheaper by the Dozen. Like...her Metamorphosis album is engrained in my memory. I knew all the words.
I have always loved this movie and also had the soundtrack too and listened it all the time 😍. Love that you reacted to one of my favorite disney channel movies!
I would recomend reacting to a form of music called Joik. Joik is the traditional Sami music form. It is characterized by a reciting manner of singing, repetition and variation built on short formulas and special vocal techniques. Joik is one of the oldest formes of folk music in Europe. Some recomendations i know is on youtube is "Ella Marie Hætta isaksen- Maze", "joiken fra Ante-filmen" and "Five sami joik songs from Karasjok, Norway(1954)"
This movie made me wanted to go to Rome for a long time, and when I graduated I finally got to go and I love it!!! I never understand the voice changes but 🤷🏻♀️ I love Hilary duff songs til today!!
The irony of Paolo’s actor actually singing his part and Hilary not but her sister (like Paolo says about Isabella) is *chefs kiss* Tis YOU who is the imposter, Hilary! And his actor is younger than Gordo’s so it’s not really creepy since Paolo is like 17 and Hilary is probably like 15. (Not me being a Paolo apologist 😂)
I had to look it up, according to a v quick search, Paolo is only meant to be 17. I loved this movie as a little idiot 12 year old. I solidly remember being in a Ltd Too i the mall with all the merch for the film - and All the stuff that while watching it as an adult makes you go oh. Oh no. Do not go off with the stranger. Is exactly why it works so well as a fantasy for preteen and young teenage viewers. xD Great video as always!
You’re absolutely correct about the red flags looking back. This movie (and soundtrack!!!) are still insanely iconic though. The fact that they took this trip to Rome after a middle school graduation is wild to me. This is What Dreams Are Made Of is definitely the standout song of the movie (and “Sing to me, Paolo” the standout line), but the scene with Why Not (and the music video for it) are up there for me as well. And yesssss Come Clean
Oh gosh, yes. I'm the same age as you, Hannah, and this movie was such a fun part of my childhood. Even as an adult I sometimes still watch it for the summer travel vibes, iconic songs, and nostalgia, even while I'm cringing at Paulo's creepiness.😂
I'm pretty sure Julie Griffin was the voice they used for Vanessa and Hillary because se was also used as Selenas character on hanna Montana (Makayla) and sand If Cupid Had a Heart. I could be wrong but if you listen to that song it sound similar to those dubbed vocals
Loved seeing your reaction to this! I remember watching this in theaters when it came out! I would love to see you react to Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (it’s a bit of a long one FYI)
The fact that Ru Paul is on the Lizzie McGuire Movie soundtrack.... That is one of the best makeover scenes in movie history and inspired many a dress-up/ fashion show play for my friend and I when we were little.
I love that you're revisiting *iconic* childhood movies! Could you please react to ELLA ENCHANTED? There needs to be more Anne Hathaway vocal appreciation!
omgeh thank you for reminding me this movie🥹i literally cried at the end it brought me my childhood memories and i cant believe how old i feel😭but its the best feeling in the world🥰thank you🥹😘
Okay, I will always love this movie. It is ICONIC. HOWEVER… I will NEVER be over that they were trying to convince us that all of these kids were graduating 8th grade?!?! Absolutely not. In what world would and 8th grader have Lizzie’s wardrobe and also all of them go to Rome…. With no chaperones?! And also I think Paolo was supposed to be 17 which is insane because he looks 30 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I can’t.
what are you even saying lizzie's regular outfits are normal for a teen in the 2000's and the guy who plays him was 18! the actors of lizzie gordo kate etc all teens like 15
I was so obsessed with this movie at 13 lol It definitely hits different now, in our 30’s 🚩🤦🏽♀️ Still own the soundtrack tho - which is legitimately SO good. Also, your deadpan “Oh no. The consequences of my actions” killed me 🤣
Hey Hannah!! My daughter said you should watch Mary-Kate and Ashley’s movie Passport to Paris since you were saying how bad it was for Lizzie to go to “another location” with Paulo
The dubbing probably happened because songs were probably re-recorded post production and the tuning was cleaner whereas the in the movie maybe her voice wasn’t as trained for the highs yet and the editors were just off in the meshing
Dude, when I rewatched this movie and realized they are supposed to be in middle school, I was flabbergasted! It's pretty icky, but I love your videos, Hannah!
Try watching "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend", I think you'd really like it! It's clever, has important social commentary, wonderful vocal performances, and it is about mental health.
Omg that Metamorphasis album was my ish! If it had been a tape instead of CD it would’ve popped from all the plays I gave it lol. Did anyone else have that Bratz fashion runway play set where you could connect your player and it would play music while moving your dolls down the runway? I used to have my girls “walk” to Hillary 😂
I was a little girl when the movie comes out, like you... And I can remember it SO WELL, because I'm italian and I'm living in Rome and the movie is full of stereotypes 😂 Our Italian guys are not like this, I swear! A kiss from Rome, where the Colosseum is closed for the concerts 😂 (i'm sorry for my English 🙏)

In my high school Italian class, this was the go-to movie my teacher would put on during bludge days. She used to giggle at the way Lizzie's bum giggles in the final number.
I literally rewatched this yesterday... its like you read my mind! love this movie so much - childhood goals
Hannah, welcome. When were young, we find the characters cute and inspirational. You're no longer young when you watch and go "CHOICES."
Hannah, I laugh every single time at that last shot at the concert with the obvious voice dub and even more obvious wig. This is one of my comfort movies, I've seen it at least a dozen times in full and I laugh everryyyy time 😂
Also I'm dying to see you react to some songs from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend!!
Hannah, you should totally react to Disney's Enchanted AND do an Amy Adams/Giselle look-alike because I think you look like Amy Adams!
That Isabella's green outfit, gooood it was my dreams and fantasy. I'm still in love twenty years later
I didn't know until recently that Haylie Duff sang parts of "This is What Dreams Are Made of" and it was edited together with Hilary Duff's voice!
I did What Dreams Are Made Of in my 6th grade talent show with my best friend in coordinated limited too cargos, camis, and newsboy caps. it was iconic, I still remember the dance
I was actually so shocked that Lizzie's parents bought 3 tickets to Rome just because they missed her. Like what the heck.
I have never seen this before (it literally came out when I was *3*), but I still was able to mouth along to the entire chorus of the "what dreams are made of" song. It's apparently that iconic😂.
I learned that ballad on the piano..it was the second song I ever learned to play fully when I started practicing
THIS IS MY FAV MOVIE FOR ROAD TRIPS OMGGG U REACTED NOW WAYYYY
A Hilary Duff fan who listened to Come Clean on repeat. You have just gone up in my world. I listened to Metamorphosis and her self-titled album on repeat. I still do.
I was obsessed with Lizzie when I was younger and then Hillary Duffs music. Can tell you how many times I watched this movie
THE “hey now” GAVE ME NOSTALGIA
This movie made me wanted to go to Rome for a long time, and when I graduated I finally got to go and I love it!!! I never understand the voice changes but 🤷🏻♀️ I love Hilary duff songs til today!!
You should react to Starstruck next, is a Disney movie. Another iconic 2000s movie💜
I was obsessed with this when it came out, I watched it at least twice a day for like a month
The irony of Paolo’s actor actually singing his part and Hilary not but her sister (like Paolo says about Isabella) is *chefs kiss*
Tis YOU who is the imposter, Hilary!
Isn't she graduating middle school? Which would make her like 13. Still creepy.
Definitely had the soundtrack to this in my preteen years… Still love it!
Oh gosh, yes. I'm the same age as you, Hannah, and this movie was such a fun part of my childhood. Even as an adult I sometimes still watch it for the summer travel vibes, iconic songs, and nostalgia, even while I'm cringing at Paulo's creepiness.😂
Your hair and outfit is giving me LIFEEE!!!
I'm pretty sure Julie Griffin was the voice they used for Vanessa and Hillary because se was also used as Selenas character on hanna Montana (Makayla) and sand If Cupid Had a Heart. I could be wrong but if you listen to that song it sound similar to those dubbed vocals
This has nothing to do with the topic of the video but, I just wanted to say Hannah's hair is so on point. like such gorgeous hair!
"Oh no, The consequences of my actions." 🤣
And also I think Paolo was supposed to be 17 which is insane because he looks 30 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I can’t.
what are you even saying lizzie's regular outfits are normal for a teen in the 2000's and the guy who plays him was 18! the actors of lizzie gordo kate etc all teens like 15
I was so obsessed with this movie at 13 lol It definitely hits different now, in our 30’s 🚩🤦🏽♀️
Still own the soundtrack tho - which is legitimately SO good.
Also, your deadpan “Oh no. The consequences of my actions” killed me 🤣
This movie will forever be iconic for so many reasons !
Hey Hannah!! My daughter said you should watch Mary-Kate and Ashley’s movie Passport to Paris since you were saying how bad it was for Lizzie to go to “another location” with Paulo
They were the queens of no parental supervision!
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT 🎉
The dubbing probably happened because songs were probably re-recorded post production and the tuning was cleaner whereas the in the movie maybe her voice wasn’t as trained for the highs yet and the editors were just off in the meshing
What dreams are made of will always be an iconic song
Dude, when I rewatched this movie and realized they are supposed to be in middle school, I was flabbergasted! It's pretty icky, but I love your videos, Hannah!
Haylie duff also starred with Hilary duff on a Cinderella story soundtrack. Our lips are sealed have both voices in
Try watching "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend", I think you'd really like it! It's clever, has important social commentary, wonderful vocal performances, and it is about mental health.
I am just so happy to see another Lizzie McGuire/Hillary Duff fan!
Next: Hannah Montana Movie, please!
I'm trying so hard to focus on anything other than your outfit!!! The hair? The shirt? The glasses? AMAZING
Love this movie so much! A cult classic for me hahaha
yes!!! Rags was one of my favorites
RAGS IS SO UNDERRATED !!!!!!!
