Same here, & I have to agree. *I also like to keep borax & diatomaceous earth around for non-toxic pest control, both are so effective & economical. Same goes for pure peppermint oil, in bulk quantity~ love that for so many uses as well.

Granny I got a nice suggestion for your viewers if they do like I do and throw away their containers. Go to a real busy laundry mat and Im sure u can find empty soap and cream rinse bottles in the trash.

I have a recipe for some similar.
    1 c borax
    1 c super washing soda
    2 bars unscented zote grated
    2 gal hot boiling water
    Essential oil of choice
    Let sit overnite
    2 gal tepid water

I've used this recipe before. Good stuff. Didnt know the borax was the thickener. Had no idea why I woke up to a 5 gal bucket of gel 😂 but it worked wonders and took me a lil over a year to get through it for my house of 3.

Thx for your recipe. Wanted to mention that the box of ZOTE flakes is 2 bars worth of grated soap. So half of the box would be about one bar grated. I also like to put in some essential oils- lavender is nice, or eucalyptus smells fresh also.

I always go to a laundromat get bottles out of the trash. I also use washing soda. I use vinegar in the rinse cycle. Vinegar 1. Neutralizes soap residue 2. It's a mildewezide. 3. It also works as a fabric softener.
I never use liquid softener it coats your clothes.

Back to basics is a great idea. I’m 67 and I believe that too. It’s more physical work but it’s way cheaper in most cases. I’m used to working harder. I make and own a soap business and I make coconut soap for my laundry soap. I also use a portable washer which means more work but it really cleans better than my big fancy washer. Great job on the video.

Thank you so much Granny Karma. I made my own laundry detergent for years, w/my homemade lye soap for about 20 hrs. Then switched over to bought detergent when we had coupons that got double or triple value & got it free or close to free. Then stores no longer gave 2x or 3 x the value on mfg coupons. When I eventually ran out of my stockpile I bought it, using the mfg coupons, saving 2-5 dollars. BIG waste of money! When my supply is gone no more buying it! I remember that that Zote & borax does a much better job of cleaning clothes than the bought stuff. Many, many thanks dear lady. ❤ & prayers.
