Those stone golems are wicked cool. There's something classic dreadnought-y about their boxy silhouette... you ever thought about kitbashing one into a chaos dreadnought? 🤔
The speedpaints are looking flatter because of the way you slapchop. Black primer, heavy grey drybrush, and then lighter (but still kinda heavy) white drybrush. Keeps it bright but also more gradient
@@SpicyPotatoe In 16 hours i can paint 20/25 miniatures, in a good tabletop level with traditional brush paint, is a good result knowing the low effort of the slapchop and the time
@@Grinzorcpaints I've been painting for 20 years and, at the level that I'm satisfied with, I can maybe only paint 10 simple models in 16 hours using traditional methods. 3-5 models tops if it's a bigger model. Let's all just be proud of everyone for being able to enjoy this hobby in our own ways!
Thank you for showing the magic of speedpaints. I had a really hard time starting the hobby with those colors but you help me understand how to handle them!
Thanks for showing such great ideas of speedpaint combinations, you make it look so easy! Super cleaver use of wet blending, your effects are beautiful 👍👍
This video is actually super helpful for me! I’ve been eyeing this army for a while but I had so many issues painting the couple of spires I had I was afraid these would be hard too. Love the videos you brothers of battle
I love these videos where you bash through your pile of shame! So satisfying to watch and you always take different approaches or have did limitations on yourself which definitely helps you to grow as a painter
Another awsome video. You are the one youtuber i'm allways waiting to realease new videos, you make my week tons better. Thank you for all the work you guys put in 😁😁
Did some painting today using speedpaints following the method suggested here, using two colours and blending them from light to dark. I’m loving the output so far. Great tip thanks.
Okay.. fine... I'll get back to painting my Old Dominion as well... seriously though... Conquest is a fantastic game.. not even mentioned was the free rules, free army builder, free army building app, and all the fantastic game play! The larger models are great IMHO and there are some even more crazy models (Fallen Divinity anyone?) that are 100% worth checking out. Oh, and Orcs Riding Friggin' Dinosaurs. Nuff said, great video!
These looked great! It is really nice all that you can do with these paints by taking advantage of what they do well. The two color blends you did across the model was inspiring! I'll have to try that out soon.
Those models look incredible, and a larger scale would be a lot of fun! This might just be enough of a draw to release me from my prison in James' Workshop.
Great video. Was going to do something similar with mine as all those raised details just beg to grab some speed/contrast paint. Loved some of the special touches you did on the models with the paints, definitely going to try some of that on mine. Love the look when done!
Loved this video, really made it clear how to get great results by breaking down the techniques into simple steps. I think I'll be copying this for the Tyranid half of the Leviathan box since I'm not as keen on them
I used this method yesterday on a beastarium mini, a contrast paint over a grey base with wraithbone drybrush. It looked great, far better than contrast over plain white
Would love to see the statues with a bit of blood for the blood God or similar type of paint just placed over some parts to give it that bloodshine effect and thickness
Hi, great video!! When you mentioned "light red" and "dark red" do you mean different speed paint colors ? Or is it just the same pain with more medium on it ? If they are different colors, what are those specific colors (name of the bottle)? Thank you for your content.
absolutely love the stone and metalics effect you got. will try to work from a grey basecoat and hope the gw contrast paints will get me a similar effect
Some nice gradients/ombres here with the speed paint. Perhaps not as smooth as what an airbrush can do, but accessible to everyone with much less initial investment.
Tried Conquest out after finding out an LGS near me has a decent player base for the game and really enjoyed it. I always associated Rank and Flank with being stuffy rulesets built for grognards, but I guess that was an unfounded assumption because CLAK is quick moving and engaging. Buying into the City States faction now because I like the concept of having less available to buy right now and I can pick up the new stuff as it releases.
You guys are killing it this Month! Hard to imagine there's a faster way to get an army done. Curious how the models woulda taken Oils in comparison with regards to time and vibrancy of result.
Well we know which horsey dude is going to die first! hahah!! I really enjoyed your painting techniques, that speed paint seems really enticing! Did they change the formula? I think you guys made an episode about that. Thanks gents!! Fantastic as always!!!
I love how you used those speedpaints, could you go into a little more detail on how you did it? Seems you slapped plenty on, then used a different/wet brush to mix/blend them? Any advice on blending them? Do you use a stippling motion? Zig-zag motion? Thanks!
If you want to get really next level on the caryatids, originally they were painted bright colours, so you could make them look as if there was chipped and faded paint on them
"I could paint this guy 100 times if I wanted to". New video idea?! I think it would be fun to see you paint one model over and over as a challenge. But maybe just 10 times or something, 100 seems cruel.
I didn't know I wanted an army of zombies inspired by 1500 years of Greek History (Karyatides are classical ancient Greece, one of them is the stolen statue from the Parthenon, not Byzantine ages) until today!
Great job on these Jay, I wonder if an acrylic gloss varnish followed by the streaking grim and wipe off would add an whole other level to complement your work. I know you say you have struggled with the oil washing at times, me too (manage to take my models back to bare metal on the first attempt!!!!), but found acrylic gloss first was the key to stopping that. I guess you could also use army painter dip for a similar result, but I have not tried that myself. Could you also please add a link in the comments to the steel 3M disks you have used I think they are a great idea. (might also be worth you making that an affiliate link for some extra $$)
It took me longer to realize this than it should have, but I need to apply the same rules to Jay as I do my wife: When he says "It's fine", it is absolutely, 1,000,000,000%, unequivocally, NOT fine.

Hi, where can I find, which paint are You use here?
Old Dominion is such a great army! I love that CLAK somehow managed to do dreadnoughts better than GW. My orcs and Spire are ready for you!
Of all the creators taking part in OGA, youve really knocked it out of the park, impressive effort Jay/Nick! ❤
I like watching miniature painting thats different to the regular GW stuff.
yea, cant see any Space Marines anymore...😵
Those stone golems are wicked cool. There's something classic dreadnought-y about their boxy silhouette... you ever thought about kitbashing one into a chaos dreadnought? 🤔
The minis for this game are just absolutely sublime
Jay, please start a sisters of battle army next month, and paint them as inverted black templars as it would look awesome
Definitely would love to see this
Agreed! Sisters have some of the best models in my opinnion!
That would be a cool colour scheme!
Actually trying something like this myself
@@SensualEdamame sounds awesome! Good luck
man those sculpts are absolutely stellar.
This game is soo fun. The rules are constantly being updated. So far every game I have played has not had an gotcha rules or feels bad moments.
what i really love about your vid, is that smell of passion when you talk about minis and painting
Thanks for OGA. It has made my TH-cam much better this month
Those Conquest models look great. You really did a great paint job on them. Congrats on finishing the project within the time frame you predicted.
Been tryin hard to really get into ClaK so this was hella perfect.
I love me some conquest! That apex T rex has been teasing in the backdrop for far too long!
The speedpaints are looking flatter because of the way you slapchop. Black primer, heavy grey drybrush, and then lighter (but still kinda heavy) white drybrush. Keeps it bright but also more gradient
For 16 hours it doesn't look that bad. Make it 18 and get that extra layer of drybrushing in might have made it look even better!
Exactly

Super sweet to see a total Speedpaint process. Love the blending
Ok I'm gonna have to check out this game. These models are so cool.
That lion pelt! Need a tutorial just on how you got such a nice result :)
So happy for the growth of this channel! You guys definitely deserved it!

I only play 40k, but god damn if “mummified skeleton Byzantine empire” ain’t the coolest thing I’ve ever heard.
those Minis are really beautifully designed. And you add to it a very nice paintjob :) amazing that you are able to do so much in around 16hours.

The PURPLE! Very nice!
That army look SICK, i love the model and the story behind

These all came out wonderfully! The blood magic was an inspired choice :)
I tried your way of wet blending the speed paints today. And it worked out very well. Thank you for the idea.

Brother you make painting an army like this look easy, but I think your painting skills have improved so much since your first videos.
We need more Conquest content from Jay
Love your enthusiasm
I definitely use contrast to put a base coat then push that further with trad acrylics.
Absolutely stellar job :) Fallen divinity when? If you havent played the game yet, enjoy! It is an absolute treat.

I dig how that ancient patina came out!
Super job on the painting, love how you did your verdigris ! Tho, don't forget about First Blood, the "skirmish" variant of Conquest :D
While I only play 40k conquest seems so cool! Would love to see videos like this where you showcase another army from the game
Wonder what Jay thinks of the new speed paints where they 'fixed' the reactivation 'issue' 😅
It was answered in a previous video.
@@TribulationsSolo was that one of his models and memories? That's the only one I've missed really. I'll go back and look. Thanks.

The old dominion look really cool, i could want them, if i didn't go for the mighty w'adrhũn and their dinosaurs 🦖
Easily my favorite Conquest faction are the Spires. Body horror mixed with baroque elegance? Yes please!
I'm going to refer to the leader as the Strate-ghost, and you can't stop me.

absolutely love the stone and metalics effect you got.

I love all the little base gubbins, I assume they're 3d prints?
If you have to carry a one, your passing the 10 mark, so if you then multiply by two, you’re not gonna get 16! Nerd Raeg! I jest this looks awesome.
