Nice video but calling the Mamluke Sultanate as the last bastion of islam is wrong since there was also the Delhi Sultanate in India which defeated several Mongol invasions.

@@RandomGuy-df1oy Indeed, but the Mamluks protected Mecca, Medina, Jerusalem. And in the western sphere the Mamluks were the last significant Islamic political power at that time.

Muslims used to be great war tacticians. If you read their history, you will find out that in many cases they were significantly outnumbered by the opposition still they managed through war tactics and high morale to eventually win. One great example of that is the Battle of Yarmouk (against Byzantine Empire) and the Battle of Al Qadisiyyah (against Sassanian Empire) and both battles took place in two months time span !!!
Thank you for this great video. Keep up the good work. Waiting for your next video.

Compared to the Mongols that Egyptian Mamluks later faced, weren't even a full strength of an United Mongol Empire, Egyptian Mamluks were only facing regional soldiers of Hulagu Khan. Even that being said, it wasn't Hulagu's full forces, since he was too busy in the so-called "Toluid Civil War"

Muslims didn't only manage to hold back the Monguls at Ain Jalut. They later reverted the Mongols to Islam, teaching them mercy during war, and the importance of knowledge; especially after they previously destroyed the great library of Baghdad and used its books to build a crossway for their infantry over the rivers of Iraq; it's said the rivers ran black with ink for months. The Monguls became builders, scholars, farmers, engineers, artists and doctors when they embraced Islam, no longer a barbaric band of aggressors that burned through continents.

You know only the Golden Horde and the ilk khanate mongols states were converted to Islam and even still committed acts of barbarity and carried out wars between each other and other islamic kingdoms. Also lets not forget the Golden Horde oppression of the Russian Orthodox princes. Just saying that their conversion to Islam doesn't mean they just became saints.

No... Mamluk leaders did not save the entire world. They just saved themselves from their own destruction along with the remnants of Muslim civilizations in Arabia and North Africa - which in itself is a great feat. Japan, Vietnam, and India were able to defend themselves against the Mongols without much external help. Although the Byzantine Empire evaded the massive invasion by forming a cordial relationship with the Mongols (which could have assisted the Mongols if Mongols launched a campaign against Europe), France, England, and the Holy Roman Empire stood firm in Western Europe despite the Polish and Hungarian losses in Eastern Europe. Mongols didn't invade HRE or posed any actual significant threat to the Western Europeans. So, I don't see any "the entire world is getting destroyed" even if Mamluks had lost the battle.

Ertuğrul and the Kayı tribe to which they belonged were originally Turkified Mongols..
The 4 tribes named Kayı, Bayat, Bayındır, Alayunt, which are among the 24 tribes of the Oghuz Turks, are of Mongolian origin.. (Kai-Bayaud-Bayandur-Alayund) Changing the name of Ertuğrul's son Tuman to Osman was also a situation experienced in this process..
For this reason, the person who came to the head of the state in the Ottoman Empire could take the title of Khan..
As the Seljuk Turks and Ottoman period generally acted with strategic calculations, there is a great respect for Hülagü Han in Ottoman documents..
In the dynasty, if a man was not born and the lineage became extinct, one of the Genghis family had to be the head of the state, so they would constantly follow the Genghis lineage..
Since the last remnants of this lineage were the Crimean Khans, the Ottoman empire had protected the Crimean Khanate for centuries..

I think that anyone watching should not believe in the series.. Nothing happened between Hülagü Han and Ertuğrul.. Hulagu and Mongols, like every powerful Turkish tribe, were respected and loved in the Ottoman Empire and wanted to continue the Cengiz cause like all Turkish-Mongol rulers.. Mongolians do not name their children Chingis, Chagatei, Kubilai, Ogedei..
The use of the names Cengiz, Hülagü, Kubilay, Çağatay, Subutay, Tolunay, Yesugay in Turkey is at a record level.. The TV series are purely for marketing purposes to the Arab and Persian communities..
Turks have never valued Islam.. Religious perceptions are fragile..
It must be fun to go to prayer on Friday, while hundreds of shamans, which are not permissible according to Islam, are making bullets, wishing trees, etc. for curtains, following their beliefs..
When citizens want something, instead of praying to Allah in the mosque, they tie a ribbon to the tree next to the mosque.:) When they realized that it was possible to dominate Muslims, they adapted Islam to their own lives.. Even though voices saying Allahuekber are heard every 5 minutes in the drama, they must be laughing while watching.. Friends, the rate of Turks who have just learned that they shout 'Allahukber' when these disgraced societies (arap-peştun) compete to blow themselves up, is reported to be.. %4.
Can read arabic 1000/2, and they must be mosque imams..
There are thin papers used for wrapping tobacco, probably came from Iraq, Turks use it for wrapping marijuana..Those who see it on the ground think it is the Qur'an because it has Arabic writings on it.. But still, people from all over the world write things like the Ottoman Empire will return in 2023..
Guess where those who say that live ? As a matter of fact, it is not difficult to understand how the Ottoman Empire could easily dominate 50 countries even today..With this mindset, Osman leaves, Oktay comes, he deceives again.. Mental illnesses such as seeing mirages and hearing voices that don't exist are common..If such a situation happens, be sure that the Turks will beat Osman and send him away.. Face the realities of life, if you want so much, don't wait from the Turks, don't you have Osman in your hometown, buy it and use it..

Actually european history books are the least biased mainly because arabic history books present it from a side same with older european history books but more modern history books generally are less biased and depictions are disputed also not to mention the worlds best historians usually come from europe because they have the most education and by extension they are taught to doubt their own findings so they can confirm with others of course thats not to say there are no biases which mainly come from political leanings but nonetheless they are the least biased also may i mention the fact that currently the middle east has a horrendous freedom of expression so even todays history books are highly biased

What a legendary battle this was. With 2 very strong leaders leading it. For me the most impressive was how Baibar was abled to perfectly do a fighting retreat. I am sure there were many unknown heroes in this battle within the army it self. For the whole army to be able to stay in formation and following orders in all the chaos is impressive. And I also believe that the resolve of each individual soldiers was to die fighting there. The mongol leader and army was also no slouch. The leader was brilliant and the army was determined. Which makes this win for the Muslim that much more legendary.
Sometime I wished I would have been born in those times. Life would have been simple and I wouldn’t have mind dying in a legendary battle like this.

According to our history, Baibars indeed was the one to assassinate Qutuz who was about to retire and name Baibars as the new Sultan, Baibars immediately regretted his actions and betrayal (thanks to other princes influence) of his friend (Frival) and begged to be killed for his crime, Qutuz stopped the guards from killing Baibars and told them that he is now their Sultan, and they must swear fealty to him, it's kinda a sad story of misunderstanding.

Fainted retreat was a favorite Turkish/Mongolian tactic at the time. Later, Ottomans used it again and again against Europeans with success. Both side at Ain Jalut were Turkish/Mongolians so they would recognise it. The strange thing is that they used this tactic at this war.

    • @Madhattersinjeans
      @Madhattersinjeans 5 ปีที่แล้ว +19

It was a well executed retreat.
But the word is "feigned" as opposed to fainted.
Although the two words do seem to have a similar root in middle English.
Faint(ed) refers to a person collapsing (various different causes can result in someone fainting) and has a more feeble interpretation.
      "My mother fainted yesterday"
Feigned refers to a subtle tactic of deception and has a more intentional motive behind it.
"I feigned a retreat so I could encircle my enemy"

these are the only nations (as far as i know) that managed to defeat the mongol invaders and maintained their freedom:
    - japan (arguably. allegedly some storms destroyed mongol ships and stopped their invasion)
-vietnam (they allegedly repelled a mongol occupation but were still subjugated to tributary payments)
vulgar bulgars (muslims in russia. they defeated the mongols in the battle of samarra bend. BUT later, the mongols invade again and won)
    - Afghanistan (mongols were heavily defeated at the Battle of parwan and in smaller battles with afghan tribal warriros. it was the first mongol defeat ever. Afghan tribes kept their sovereignty, but some afghan cities were still sacked and destroyed)
-india under afghan rule (though india was ruled and protected by afghan and turkic empires (khilji dynasty). therefore the credit goes to these afghans and turks, and not to indians. The afghan khilji empire killed so many mongol troops, that they built a tower made of the skulls of the mongol army)
    - chechenya (mongols were utterly defeated twice. both mongol invasion ended with the complete destruction of the mongol army)
    - java in Indonesia (jungle guerilla warfare forced the mongols to withdraw)
    - egypt (ie. mamluke dynasty. mongols were decisively defeated at the Battle of ain jalut and in many other battles in the levant. mongol rule pushed back and started to significantly decline.)
it needs to be mentioned the mamlukes were the only ones who decisively defeated the mongols in several battles, effectively stopped their advance and repelled them. then, the decline of the mongol empire started.
