    • @kendallrivers1119
      @kendallrivers1119 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aspenrebel Character progression isn't always necessary it depends on the character and the show. The characters you mentioned including Jim Rockford and Thomas Magnum were so well thought out and fully formed that them changing would've hurt their shows. But shows like this where it's all about the journey character progression can be an asset like with Sipowicz or Tim Bayliss from Homicide.

    • @aspenrebel
      @aspenrebel ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kendallrivers1119 Did I say that character progression was necessary? I was just comparing how Sipowicz's character changed so much over 12 seasons whereas Matt Dillion's character stayed the same for 20 seasons. I think he wore the same exact clothes, had the same gun and gun belt. Same hat. Even later on when they revived him in TV Special movies, when he was much older, they dyed his hair brown (over dyed it actually). Also, he was really blonde. Scandanavian.

    It is amazing how easily Dennis Franz took the lead on this show once Caruso came down with his god complex, had a hissy fit, and left. Especially when you find out Sipowicz was never meant to make it past the first season. I can still remember Franz on Hill Street Blues too. He played a real scumbag on that show! Lol.

    It means "the thing speaks for itself". It's a legal doctrine which holds that sometimes a thing is so blindingly obvious that no alternative explanation (like construction sites or "urban youths") can be seriously considered by anybody with more than three brain cells.
