NICE!!! I just completed my BIG4 upgrade with a PurePower 240A high output alternator... I also have 2nd battery a Kinetic HC-1200 1/0 awg Knukonceptz wire I just need to install a volt meter so I can monitor it without having to put the multimeter on it all the time...
Did you measure the average charging voltage before and after? It is pretty useful to have a voltmeter in the cabin to monitor alternator output versus audio drain. It can save you a walk home or a call to AAA.
@@HifiVega Put some kind of voltmeter in the cab to monitor the system. There are a lot of ways to do it, but something like the following link is easy and cheap and useful. www.amazon.com/Palumma-Charger-Adapter-Display-Battery/dp/B0773BYS6P/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=12v+dc+voltmeter+charger&qid=1600099073&sr=8-4
What kind of extra power do you see the system, I’ve seen videos where guys metered there’s and it picked up about 2db , just curious what you saw if you checked
I haven’t tested that aspect yet, but I plan on having more videos around this little pack in the near future and that’s something I want to know as well
Getting it done! Looks like they alternator power wire could of used a washer under that but though I could see some of the opening in the end of power wire. Usually that’s when you should add a washer.
Good job, looks good to me. Saving my electrical for last since the Patriot has to be MF'er to do it on. Removing the intake manifold just to run with the factory wire doesn't sound too fun.
I can't find my factory engine to chassis ground my alternator has a factory ground from bolt to chassis I upgraded that my alt + to battery + and my battery - to chassis ground do I still need to do engine to chassis ground isn't the alt grounded through engine if not where can I add a ground to complete big 4 upgrade
@@HifiVega it's a cadiliac nearly impossible to see or even feel back behind the engine maybe I'll try a mirror to try and look! If I still can't find it will puting a wire from transmission bolt to chassis work?
Bravo excellent good video content i love watching big 3 and big 4 upgrades videos. For the new people coming into car audio I'd suggest doing the big 3 first
Hay Vega need some help I have a taramps bass 8 k have it set to about 60 percent on gain no bass bost on my lp filter at around 90 to 100 htz what do I set my subsonic at ???
Chris ???????? Start at 25hz and kinda play with it both ways so you can fine tune it. If your subs are moving like crazy, but don’t have as much output then they’re most likely unloading and you could turn your subsonic filter up just past the point that they start to do that
Gettin' it done one step at a time! Yeah boi!
Williston Audio Labs piece meal style!
Please always remind people that before working on the power. The battery must be disconnected. Good job
Filming yourself working is damn hard.
YT problems lol
Thanks for the video. I learn a lot between you, Big D and EXO. You all know your stuff. Thanks again and keep up the great work👍👍
EXO is a train wreck.
That’s a clean wiring setup. Real nice work sir.
splaudio1 appreciate it!
That is one helluva terminal. I need a set...
You don't need the ground on the alternator. That is why the big 3 includes the ground from the engine to the chassis.

Yeah a voltmeter is a must when you’re planning on running some real power

Crazy 8s Drums no I didn’t, but I wished I had now that you mentioned it lol.

Crazy 8s Drums I’ve got a sparked innovations panel with dual meters to monitor both batteries
So glad to have stumbled upon this video. My mini van would love me to do all this. And I might as well "light coat" every exposed terminals too. 😆
Charcoal Monkey haha! Gotta do it

Nice super clean wire setup man!!
Thanks!
Rob did you add a ground wire from block to fender / firewall ?
I replaced the ground from the block to the frame, but didn’t capture any footage or it... I used the little ground strap I showed
Just did mine. Got a big 3 kit. Do i need to add a fuse from alt pos to battery pos? It did not come in the Kit
It’s a good idea to add one, but not required.
@@HifiVega thanx
Did you add fuse for the +battery and alternator?
From the battery, but not the alt.
Getting it done! Looks like they alternator power wire could of used a washer under that but though I could see some of the opening in the end of power wire. Usually that’s when you should add a washer.
It probably could, but the bolt was so short I could barely get both of the terminals on and tightened down
HifiVega ah new nut with flange bottom would work if you felt the need still. It will probably be fine I’m sure though.
Do you need to fuse the positive wire from + side of alternator to + of battery?
Yes it’s recommended in most cases
@@HifiVega Thanks, is a 300a fuse okay? I am getting a 390 amp alt installed
@@jdkljfkjefjkjfdjdi yep.

Oh lawd sounds like a nightmare
@@HifiVega and to get to the alt is removing r/f wheel, fender well and a/c compressor 😭
I always use high heat tech flex look's and works much better than wire loom but cost is much higher. Great video keep them coming
That’s what this is, but I ran out mid job lol
@@HifiVega I hate it when that happens lol. Always enjoy your videos and your new show with dean is awesome 👍
great job hi fi we all do it diff but results are the same i think
I'll be doing this again soon on my new build

Good job. Only need a agm now
No fuse to the positive wire from the alternator?
I’m not an anti fusser! BUT on this one no I did not add a fuse in the 1/0 power wire from the alt...
@@HifiVega Isn't it dangerous for the battery tho?
Only thing I did differently was run some 1/0 to the fuse box for idk what reason lol. But figured it cant hurt.
Yeah for sure
Adds more current paths, never a bad thing bro.
Good job Hifi Vega! You remind me of the CAF guy👍😎
Oh man that’s a huge complement! I’m no where near Mark’s level, but I strive for it every week.
Even on vacation, need me my car audio lol.

Looking good those battery terminals are sweet👍
eric dudley yeah they do! Thanks man
I'm going to do this to my 93 Civic to help the Boss amp get more current!
No matter the equipment the big 3 is a good investment
Should showed us voltage before and after the big 3 upgrade thanks
For sure, but I’d wanna do it under load and I don’t have an amp in there just yet
Waiting on a bad ass Exide battery to go in when $ allows.
Great tips love this guy

waiting on my gp batt terminals...... again
