Me watching this just after the X360 store has been taken offline and cursing myself for not getting a few arcade bangers before they were gone... Great video on the Dreamcast 3!
Unfortunately, Sega didn't know how to market Anarchy Reigns and treated it very poorly. They suddenly delayed it everywhere but Japan from July 2012 to January 2013, with the only upside being a budget $30 price point. It felt like an indication they didn't expect it to sell on its own merits and weren't going to try any harder. I still remember a Sega rep apparently called it "Call of Duty with a chainsaw". Sega USA really had no clue what they were doing in that era.
My favorite 2D console is the Genesis and 3D is the 360. Spent a lot of time the past year on the 360 net sifting through and picking up what I’d missed. I have one of my Elites hooked up to a 27in CRT via component and those arcade games run look and smooth!
Condemned, After Burner Climax, and Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing are all top-tier games. I'm glad you mentioned Binary Domain, too. As for the name of "Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing", I think it was intended as a continuation of the Sega All-Stars series that began on PlayStation 2. They probably added the Sonic branding for extra appeal.
I've mentioned this once before, but it was the release of Sonic Generations for Xbox 360 that finally got me to want to own another home console outside of what was my usual bias at the time for Nintendo, adding to that the great amount of Sega support that the Xbox 360 ended up getting. I did indeed buy NiGHTS into Dreams, Sonic CD, the Adventure titles, Sonic the Fighters, and Sonic 4: Episode II off of Xbox Live Arcade right when those titles were released along with owning my physical copy of Generations, and those downloaded titles are still kept stored onto my Xbox 360 to this day. Never have upgraded to the Xbox One though, with my last current home console having been back to Nintendo again with the Switch.
@@Vulpas Ever since we got the HD version of NiGHTS into Dreams I had been hoping to see it get re-released on Switch (and maybe even the Wii sequel Journey of Dreams), but either Sega or Nintendo just haven't been thinking of doing it. A shame really, cause NiGHTS has always been my favorite Sega franchise outside of Sonic and it should be deserving better than to be slept on so much (which is kind of ironic since it's about flying around in a dream world).
@@nicksorenson940 Yeah, but maybe it's a blessing in disguise. A bunch of Sega's modern games are woke now, it'd be cringe inducing to see them make him canonically nonbinary or whatever... Sonic's games are free of that for now but the comics are infected.
@@nicksorenson940 Oh yeah, for sure. It's crazy to me they don't do that. There's still never been a proper HD port of the Dreamcast version of Sonic Adventure 1 & 2. There's a janky port for PC and PS3 based in the GameCube port, but that's it.
The ultimate megdrive collection was one of the first ps3 games i really got into when i first got the system, i adore that title. Such an incredible variety and quality for its time. Me and my little sister didnt know the first thing about streets of rage but we still had fun messaging around in the second game together
Great video sir, so many great games on the 360 by Sega you forget them but the console was a big hitter. I miss the 360/PS3 days and youve reminded me to grab some titles there that i dont own anymore. Thanks
Fantastic lists. As soon as I saw the WB and Monolith logos I knew Condemned would be on this list but wasn't expecting it to be number 1. I'm happy with that though. I still think it's a great game, agree that it got lost alongside CoD2, is a great exclusive for the 360 and its a shame they didn't make a number 3.
That last bit at the end hit hard. Gaming will become whatever it is going to become, but I count myself lucky to have lived through some pretty amazing console generations. Not knocking what people enjoy now, just not my cup of tea.
Solid list! Condemn is definitely overlooked. Bayonetta is GREAT & the sequels are even better. Alien isolation is one of the absolute BEST survival horror games made. Thanks for the video
For me the 360 was the last great generation, so many amazing titles , the xbox arcade games nailed it for me As u say, the 360 had an amazing long life with so many great memories
Was really happy to get NiGHTS again through XBL. Really hope Binary Domain gets a re-release. Missed it first time around cause to my dumbass eyes, it looked like just another man v machine third person shooter. Had no knowledge of the Yakuza games then. Now I have plenty, and I want!
Although I had PS3, I played almost all of the games that were on this list. I'm disappointed that some games are now unavailable because of licensing issues, but I hope something can be worked out to get games like Afterburner Climax available on modern systems. I also hope that a Guardian Heroes port is imminent since the XBLA store recently closed, but given how long it took Radiant Silvergun's port to be announced and released, we might be waiting for a while, if it ever does get re-released.
I’m in the same boat as lord X. I just don’t really give a damn about modern gaming. I’m just waiting for emulation to get better for the 360 and I think I’ve hit the retirement stage of my life in gaming.
Sega during the Xbox 360/PS3 lifespan was amazing with there remasters and ports. I remember seeing Sonjc Adventure 1 and 2 coming to the marketplace and smiled so big because i couldnt believe sega was porting all these great games.
OMG I agree with you....Condemned was such a great game and took me by surprise. I remember the scene with the mannequins when one of them started moving....they did not try to make it a jump scare with a loud noise....it just started moving towards me....that was so much more effective...
Great vid as always LORD X , I agree with your view with new modern games , started buying carts again , can’t beat the lack of updates not needed , plug n play , all the way , instant load times too 😊 , we’ll kind of 👍
Whole heartily agree with your ending statements in this video. There just isn't variety anymore, and more of an emphasis on putting out content shareholders will think will bring them the most cash over a long period of time. AAA publishers just don't make games for us anymore; they make them for shareholders. On a positive note the indie scene is where it's at, though. The majority of my catalog of games that I play I've recently purchased is on PC, and they're all indie. Part of me is angry by this, but at the same time, it's pretty cool to see all these retro inspired titles make a comeback from passionate small teams. Unless a major shift happens with the direction of AAA publishers I won't be purchasing the next generation of consoles. I'm not their target audience anymore, but you know what? That's ok. Plenty to keep me busy on PC and a backlog of games from decades past.
Binary Domain was probably forgotten because in the 7th generation, you couldn't throw a rock with it hitting a cover-based shooter. I'm not knocking the game, never played it, but it was the style at the time to release a gritty military cover based shooter, so it was hard to stand out amongst all the other grey and brown military cover based shooters.
And that really is a shame that Binary Domain couldn't really stand out visually from all the rest because they actually try to be more than just a meathead shooter. Like even if you're fighting robots gone amok you also have a robot ally... who speaks with an outrageously french accent. You can tell it was the Yakuza guys writing the game.
I had a pretty good amount of Xbox 360 before the store went away, but leading up to that had me panic buying stuff to assure DLC before its gone. It had me finding so many great games on the system that had passed me by, or I hadn't found the time to play yet. Granted I could repeat that sentiment for any console, but I still have alot of fondness for the Xbox 360!
Anarchy Reigns is the definition Xbox 360 era games. Good old 3rd person, over the should mayhem. Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Force was also excellent and deserved to be mentioned.
The seventh gen consoles are able to make vintage games look brand new by giving them a high res treatment and at the last stage of their life are also able to push out games that are on par with 8th gen consoles. They sit in a very sweet spot on both ends.
Love my 360. Living in Asia, it was the only Xbox that really did well here. And the only one with a bunch of amazing Japanese exclusives, especially in the Shmups genre. If you're a fan of Shmups, you needed a Genesis, Saturn, and Dreamcast. But for the 7th Gen, the 360 was the console to own for this overlooked genre.
Busy installing my entire 360 library of 200 plus games and plan to jtag my 360 so i can sell the physical games and enjoy the goodness of what the 360 can offer post game centric xbox. The best generation of gaming ever.
Looking at your comments in the description I have to agree Anarchy Reigns was amazing I kind of consider it a different follow-up to the MadWorld series on Wii. (Which just like Anarchy Reigns did not do well :( ) Plus after talking to Greg Proops and John DiMaggio in person about it they really had a good time doing those voices!
Looking back, I was a little hard on the 7th generation. A lot of my favorite mid-sized studios were dying or being bought up, and everything felt like some variation of a shooter. Was not particularly happy with a lot of games abandoning local multiplayer support either. On top of that, Japanese game dev took a nosedive (**cough** Konami **cough**). With that said, this list proves there is still much to love, especially in the first half of that generation. I really should get around to playing Vanquish.
I've been recommending Binary Domain since I rented it and later purchased it in 2012. Such a good sci-fi shooter with a provocative story. A 2024/25 remaster would possibly outdo its original run and it would be better than the absurd $25-30 dollars resellers are asking for online.
Anarchy Reigns reminds me of Madworld. Which I remember having fun with on the Wii for how outrageous it was! Actually, looked it up now and it's a spiritual succesor.
@@Vulpaswow, what you said is a thing everyone online has been saying. Modern gaming sucks. Nothing but micro transactions, generic open world games and woke ideology. I haven't bought a recent title since The Lost Crown - Prince of Persia and HiFi Rush. If it's not coming out of Japan, I don't want to purchase it. Even if it drops in price. It's crazy to think that even though Alien: Isolation released in 2014, this game is available on Xbox 360 & PS3 lol. It shows the incredible longevity of both consoles before retiring. Also that game rules! Clearly one of the best survival horror games ever made imo. It's crazy that it's been 10 years and we didn't get a real sequel yet (Alien: Blackout don't count lol).
PlayStation 3 store still has Nights into Dreams, Daytona USA, Sonic CD and Adventures 1 and 2...also on PlayStation 3 any USB controller works including Retrobit's officially licensed Sega controllers...playing Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection with the Retrobit wireless Saturn controller is an epic experience!
Good stuff! Yeah, I've been gaming for like 30 years and the gaming industry definitely has shifted. Yes, there are microtransactions, gratuitous DLC, buggy launches, loot boxes and a definite dearth of ideas in some big budget titles (online team shooter #3,896), however, there are still remnants of what made gaming great to begin with still out there. Granted, sometimes you have to dig a little to get to those gems. Indie developers have definitely helped in that regard! Sega really did some amazing things in the seventh console generation (360/PS3). Their remasters were usually excellent, but it is a shame they had some great games delisted (one thing I dislike about digital game stores). I'd love to see remasters of Panzer Dragoon II Zweii, Astal, Bug!, Clockwork Knight 1 & 2, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Burning Rangers, Billy Hatcher, Skies of Arcadia and other Sega classics come to modern consoles!
Like you, SLX, the Xbox 360 was the last console I truly invested in; the last time I could really consider myself a gamer. I still love games, of course, but the shift that the industry took after that console's marketability came to an end has taken much of the fun out of the hobby for me. I hope you continue to do more coverage on the last great console, even if the games aren't specifically Sega-related.
yeah i honestly can see where you and SLX are coming from, Modern Gaming has been about chasing the latest graphics nowadays rather than giving a solid and smooth gaming experience. of the Modern Consoles (PS2 era and up), there's only 3-4 Consoles that i say are worth a Gamer's time AND money for. the PS2, Gamecube, 360 and the Nintendo Switch. all of them have a great catalog of original games and ports, while being something that you feel you can play for far more than 4 years, the average lifespan of a console these days.
@UltimateGamerCC 💯 Not just having the best, bestest graphics, either; releasing incomplete games that require DLC, huge file sizes that are required to play the game, barely any good single-player experiences (I realize that multi-player is far more popular, but don't skimp out on the SP campaign), endless rehashes and re-releases, digital only games that you purchase but still don't own, etc, etc.
@@DavidJohnson-td5ic yup, lotta that is bullshit, hence why i like Nintendo Switch because Nintendo does dumb shit, but not that stuff. Sony and Microsoft both have been trippin'.
i definitely hope that is a war that we can win, and i'd say the same could be done for hosting the marketplaces for older consoles, so that games that are only available at said markets can still be purchased and played.
Just wanna say that most of the games here showing are backwards compatible with the Series X/S now and you can still get the Games there :) - with improvment like FPS Boot and sometimes up to 4k
Sega All Stars Racing was ok, but Transformed really shines as the best "cart" racer. It is truly an amazing game and I've been playing it all these years thanks to the excellent PC release. I can't play the alien title, it's just too scary for me lol.
@@alphawoolf5981 Transformed was incredible. I still have it on my PS3. The game is constantly throwing new ideas at the player. Like flying tracks. That was awesome. Games like that make you come back to it every single time
I take this of era of gaming for granted. There was so many great releases and the online stores were simply amazing. Its a shame things got delisted and future stores simply became more limited. In hindsight, I wish I had friends who were into these games so I could have played online.
I felt that rant at the end! The lack of new games is kinda mind blowing! Let me 🤔 💭 on my Series S the only current gen games I've played on it are Gears 5 (so-so kind of mediocre), Halo Infinite (really awesome campaign!), Starfield (not gonna pretend I don't like it, I played about 74 hours of it but it's not great), Forza Motorsport (I love this game, a lot of hate for it on the Internet, not sure why? It's the only driving game I've ever played that actually feels like a decent simulation of real driving) and Skyrim and Fallout 4, both antiques, got "next gen updates" so they're considered series s games too. That's really about it. Edit* Oh and the Halo Master Chief Collection, that's an awesome package and the anniversary upgrades to Halo 2 look fantastic on it.
I have to say The Remake of Castle of Illusion was a wonderful game to play. To be honest at the time I had it downloaded to my PS3 I didn't even know it was remake until much later on. I will also say it's because of Sega Lord X that I started getting into SEGA games in general. I was a Nintendo kid in the 1980's and 1990's and the thing is that I knew a family that had a Sega Genesis but I just never played it. However Sega Lord X's shows really put me in with Sega's consoles and games and it's just like man.... Sega had some really awesome systems and games I didn't even know about. With Sega Lord X's voice monologues and dialogue his shows have that zing from the 1990's era I was so fond of when I was growing up. These shows give me a throwback to the yester years of what gaming culture was like in the 1990's. All I can say is this dude should be on tv due to his ability to explain so fluently and flawlessly such a medium. I first started watching this show when I was having.... problems after I got out of The Army and all I can say is thank you for your content, SLX. In my dark days as I call them SLX's shows lightened me up and was a reminder not to take life too seriously. So... SLX... thank you. That's... all I can say, man. I hope you keep this show up. Take care now....

Aw damn, I loved Chromehounds. Its a shame they took it offline so quickly. I wish Sega and From could get together again to release something like that.
I, too lost interest in modern gaming after this era, but damn if it didn't give us some of the best franchises ever. BioShock, the new Fallout games, Dead Space, the Guitar Hero games. Now I almost exclusively focus on indie titles or just play retro stuff.
I agree, the Xbox 360 was the last console that really awed me in regards to transitioning from one generation to the next. I also agree that we may be getting old, but I definitely enjoyed those days of receiving a game in its entirety as opposed to developers milking games with all this DLC shit. Sega definitely killed it with its presence on the 360.
No joke. Binary Domain is one of the best games I’ve ever played. I also love that the protagonist and love interest voice actors got married. How romantic!
I totally get what you’re saying at the end but you can’t tell me that if DLC and “updated missions, maps, and skins” magically appeared for Genesis or Dreamcast games today you wouldn’t still be playing those and eating it up. I know I would lol! While I totally agree that modern games lack the charm of retro games, DLC in and of itself isn’t a bad thing. DLC is just that: downloadable content. It’s when companies use it to nickel and dime customers that it becomes a problem.
There's a difference between offering some DLC to extend a game and developing a Live Service game with the intent of pushing that game for years on end. Bungie hasn't made a real game in a decade because of garbage like Destiny.
@@SegaLordX Oh I agree! Destiny had the potential to be something really special but once the Activision greed got involved…ugh! I guess my point was like, if new levels could be downloaded for Streets of Rage or Sonic Adventure, I’d definitely buy it! Would I pay $5 to turn Sonic’s shoes a different color? No. No way! 😄 Shredder’s Revenge, for example, is DLC that I think was handled very well. It should contribute to the game to push it forward, not try to squeeze every penny out of the customer. But I know, DLC has a negative connotation by the community. And when a studio shuts down the servers the DLC is gone and no one in the future will have access to that. My point was just that when it’s handled well by the right studio it can benefit the experience.
@@meekstud Good dlc use to exist, I remember the first Borderlands did one of the first season passes for the 4 dlc campaigns and it was priced well and gave you good content. Fast forward to 15 years later and we get half the content for double the price lol. If we're lucky haha

More please❤. This video was so good that made me want to back in time and play these games back then. Thank you so much Sega-Sega Lord X!
Same, Switch is more than enough now.
@@Vulpas True, but I was thinking more of re-releasing the older games if they aren't going to return to the franchise again otherwise.
Thanks
huge hit, 360 was just so good and i'm glad that i got in on it day one.
I recently picked up a physical copy of SEGA Rally Revo for my 360 collection, and it still looks and plays brilliantly. Superb game.
For me the 360 was the last great generation, so many amazing titles , the xbox arcade games nailed it for me
As u say, the 360 had an amazing long life with so many great memories
That whole generation including the ps3 and wii. Gave us great Retro and arcade games.
I'd say PS2 generation was the last great one but the next was the last good/decent one.
same here
Great video Sega Lord X. Thank you!!!!
The Sega games are a must have on any Xbox 360 collector.
"Delisted" how I loathe that word
I’m in the same boat as lord X. I just don’t really give a damn about modern gaming. I’m just waiting for emulation to get better for the 360 and I think I’ve hit the retirement stage of my life in gaming.
I was thinking Condemned was going to get snubbed. So glad to see it get some love!
Sega during the Xbox 360/PS3 lifespan was amazing with there remasters and ports. I remember seeing Sonjc Adventure 1 and 2 coming to the marketplace and smiled so big because i couldnt believe sega was porting all these great games.
Another great episode, SLX. Thank you!
OMG I agree with you....Condemned was such a great game and took me by surprise. I remember the scene with the mannequins when one of them started moving....they did not try to make it a jump scare with a loud noise....it just started moving towards me....that was so much more effective...
Great vid as always LORD X , I agree with your view with new modern games , started buying carts again , can’t beat the lack of updates not needed , plug n play , all the way , instant load times too 😊 , we’ll kind of 👍
Dude the sonic racing theme at the beginning is such a 10/10. LOVE that song
Condemned is one of my favorite horror titles. Got ot shortly after launch and its incredible. Totally forgot that was even a Sega title
(Which just like Anarchy Reigns did not do well :( )
Plus after talking to Greg Proops and John DiMaggio in person about it they really had a good time doing those voices!
I really should get around to playing Vanquish.
i love this list. I only wish Microsoft let me play these games on my PC using xbox PC. I rarely dig out my xbox one.
Good picks for the top 2 on physical and nice to see Binary Domain make the list.
Sega's love of "Inspirational Hip-Hop" in soundtracks during this era was iconic.
The commentary at the end couldn't be more true. I find myself working more often on my distant backlog than on current AAA releases.
I don't remember the last modern AAA game I played, they've been buggy, woke, and full of microtransactions for a while now.
Including that BS Assassin Creed game coming out.
@@TheDumontShow Yeah, the newest game I'll get is the next Mario, I'm sure it'll be here next year for Switch 2. That's one of the few things I'm looking forward to and will probably be safe from modern crap.
What is "woke?" I first heard this when I moved to the USA and it seems to refer to anything that triggers angry white people. Give us more inclusion!
@@socialistprofessor3206 "Inclusion" took the lives of 3 little girls in Europe recently, and I hope the protests never stop. "Inclusion" takes, and takes, and takes, but gives nothing back because it's inherently parasitic.
@@Metal0maniac98 and you can get it on the Switch. It goes to show you how much longevity and replayability the older games have.
@@TheDumontShow Yup. This is why ports & gaming preservation are really important as well.
@@UltimateGamerCC I agree. It's a shame that the best console with the purest gaming experience on the market is a portable handheld.
@@DavidJohnson-td5ic that doubles as a console, yeah. also helps that a Switch is literally half the price of the competition.
Any thoughts on the stop killing games campaign by Ross Scott?
A noble effort. I hope something comes of it.
i definitely hope that is a war that we can win, and i'd say the same could be done for hosting the marketplaces for older consoles, so that games that are only available at said markets can still be purchased and played.
Phenomenal list and not just because I worked on 75% of these titles 😂 Always great to see Binary Domain getting more love.
Just wanna say that most of the games here showing are backwards compatible with the Series X/S now and you can still get the Games there :) - with improvment like FPS Boot and sometimes up to 4k
Wow, I'd never seen that After Burner game before, that looks INSANELY good.
Sega All Stars Racing was ok, but Transformed really shines as the best "cart" racer. It is truly an amazing game and I've been playing it all these years thanks to the excellent PC release. I can't play the alien title, it's just too scary for me lol.
Yes Transformed has yet to be topped by any other kart racer
Mario kart ds is a bit better but yeah
@@alphawoolf5981 Transformed was incredible. I still have it on my PS3. The game is constantly throwing new ideas at the player. Like flying tracks. That was awesome. Games like that make you come back to it every single time
came here for this content, whole heartedly agree. Beats out mario kart 8 for the wii u easily.
Chrome Hounds and The Club are considered hidden gems. Sad to not see them on the list.
Amazed you didn’t add the Arkedo developed / SEGA published Hell Yeah Wrath of the Dead Rabbit in your XBLA section, it was an incredible game!
I own it on Steam. Very fun game I admit.
The amount of games here you can no longer buy is straight up sad...
awesome top 10, alpha protocol was also a cool game.
Just wanna say, this is a really good subject for a video.
I take this of era of gaming for granted. There was so many great releases and the online stores were simply amazing. Its a shame things got delisted and future stores simply became more limited. In hindsight, I wish I had friends who were into these games so I could have played online.
Your closing statement couldn’t be any further from the truth. And it’s something that’s definitely quotable. Great video as always man.
I liked my 360, but never as much as my PS3 because I always liked the d-pad and overall controller better with the PS3.
Anarchy Reigns looks like Spawn in the Demon's Hand or Heavy Metal Geomatrix😅 I love this games, especially Spawn😊
My ten best boxed SEGA Xbox 360 games in no particular order: Alien Isolation, All Stars Racing Transformed, Virtua Fighter 5, Full Auto, Sega Rally, SEGA Maga Drive Ultimate Collection, Binary Domain, Condemned, Sonic Generations, Virtua Tennis (4).
Sega hit it's third party stride on 360.
Hopefully they can return to being the third party they once were.
Binary Domain was very much my favorite Sega game on the Xbox 360 next to Vanquish and Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram.
Aw damn, I loved Chromehounds. Its a shame they took it offline so quickly. I wish Sega and From could get together again to release something like that.
agreed, Chromehounds was awesome.
Just about to watch and I'm praying condemned is on there 😂
Yeeeeeeeeessssssss absolutely agree with you
Ok this deserves a thumbs up 👍
One of the best things I like about earlier Xbox systems is their ability to download entire games into the hard drive to play. It is so convenient.
I, too lost interest in modern gaming after this era, but damn if it didn't give us some of the best franchises ever. BioShock, the new Fallout games, Dead Space, the Guitar Hero games. Now I almost exclusively focus on indie titles or just play retro stuff.
Xbox 360 2005-2018 Xbox 360 Live 2005-2024 good times
Thank you for making videos that are so entertaining and informative! I hope my videos will have the same professional quality!
I can’t wait till you so one for Sega games release on the Nintendo Wii. It had some bangers mad world.
No. No way! 😄
Shredder’s Revenge, for example, is DLC that I think was handled very well.
@@SegaLordXhey some of us LOVE destiny. It’s not for everyone but I’ve gotten years and years of immense enjoyment from it. Playing with my wife is wonderful.
Rockstar one of the worst defenders if not the worst offenders at this trend GTA5 was released round about 2011 2012 and all they were doing for the last decade or so was just milking customers for all their work and focused on the online element.
Condemned WILL give you nightmares, I guarantee. The first person perspective and the in your face combat will get in your brain far more than any horror movie. It's just way more intense and personal.
I wish Sega would release Nights on modern consoles. Having it on the switch would be awesome!
I've been wanting the exact same thing.
Th greatest gaming experience in my life was on the Xbox360. It's where I discovered action RPGs like Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Skyrim, Red Dead Redemption and of course Mass Effect. Omg The best time I ever had on any gaming console. Better than Ps4 Ps5. Incredible when I first play Fallout 3, my goodness and then Skyrim, I was in heaven.
Sonic & Sega All-Star Racing is my favourite Fun-Racer of all Time. Yes, even better as Mario Kart 8. Me and my Friends still playing it on the PS3.
Awesomeness video slx please do more thanks ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Everyone must admit that generation 7 was so exciting and magical. It was not perfect, but nobody cared. There were so many incredible titles to play.
