The very first fish I ever caught was a rainbow trout. Don’t remember how big it was but I was super happy to catch my first fish. I was younger than 13 at the time and when I got that beautiful rainbow trout I’ve loved fishing since. I’m 22 now and every summer I go a full week away from home just for fishing trout. I enjoy it. :)
I've already told this story before but here we go. Right so when i started out trout fishing about three years ago all i knew was to use power bait. I wasn't really a big fan of live bait and it had been YEARS since i last fished. I figured i would go to my local water shad and ask others for tips and learn a thing or two. These people at my local water shad were stuck up,nasty, etc and treated me like they didn't want me there. That didn't stop me, Being lucky or doing something right i got my first trout! I start freaking out leo style and saying how beautiful it is and look at the colors and every one else around me is giving me the "look" My sister manage to catch her first one too. Days later i went to a walmart and got a handful of power bait in a few colors thinking this was all i needed. I then went to my local water shad like before and there happen to be a guy near a spot i can fish safely from the bank. He happened to be in waders and at this point i didn't bother asking him anything because people were rude to me other times. Like we were on top of each other, He was in front of me and i was behind him. He was catching trout left and right and i didn't get zip. This went on for a bit and i ended up saying screw this and threw in the towel. I packed up my stuff and was ready to head back home when i hear a Stop! I look around and figured it must of been him and said why? The guy then said you want a fish?, I'll get you one! I said thanks for the offer but it would feel good to catch one myself. The guy said you don't understand and started walking out of the stream. Once hes on land he then said show me your setup, I did and he cut everything off. He then tied on a new hook, split shot and gave me a pink rubber worm. He then said 100% you'll get one now and points to a spot in the stream and tells me what to do. Sure enough i did get my second trout of my whole life and i thank him and offer his stuff back and the fish it was the right thing to do. He told me no you're going to keep it because you earned it and earned that fish, The fact that you took the time and allowed me to teach you something you were unaware of is more than enough for me. We then talked for a bit and i explain to him how others made me feel while fishing and how they were rude, etc. He then tells me "Well you're going to run into "those" kind of people from time to time but don't let that get to you." He then tells me "I want you to know there are good people like myself that would rather take time out of our day and help another person like yourself." He then tells me "I want you to be that person and if you see somebody having a hard time please offer them some help but only if they are willing listen and take it." He remember about the trout and said you better get home quickly and cook up that trout! I laughed and said yeah i guess you're right and packed up and was on my way out when he said "See you later kid, Hopefully we get to meet up again." From that day on , I try and help as many people as i can and tell them how i use stuff and what has worked for me and how i do it i keep no fishing secrets. With that said those bubble gum trout worms work on EVERYTHING when the time is right and in your favor.
I’m enjoying your “Everyman “ video personality. I appreciate that you show your faults and snags and all that stuff....just like how we “regular” folk do. I’m subscribing! Keep keeping it real man!
Was taught to use two smaller drop shot sinkers about 2 inches apart and this will reduce the snags and give more realistic fishing....no pun intended haha. Love your videos man. Keep bringing it!
While you were walking through the water testing out your new boots, I was singing "Wade in the Water"! Those Mouse Tails work really nice, they seem to be most effective in moving water also, but I have caught trout with them on just a slip rig also.
I was more frustrated cuz I had to wait to see the conclusion of the boot episode. #cliffhanger 🤣🤣🤣 I retract my statement im never disappointed with Realistic Fishing🦎👑🐟
I always have good luck with mice tails. I use the white and pink. Powerbait also makes power worms that resemble meal worms. They come in a small jar they are always good too.
I live in pa and we have opening day for trout in April and I used them last year and was limited out in 30 minutes really good bait realistic fishing try them on a 32 jig head and you almost Texas rig it ... it works really good
I live in PA as well. I’m new to fishing so I’ll definitely give it a try. I have trout magnets. I don’t know what a 32 jig head is but I’ll google it lol. Thanks for the info
Bro that opening was legendary...showed some great wins but much respect for showing some of the flubs....when you lost your cap...that was classic then you cemented my respect when you fished it out! True grit my friend....I'm subscribing partner..good work
It looked as if you were using a "removable split shot". In my experience their design with the two small appendages used for removal, tend to snag a lot more over a rocky or stone river bed than the old-fashioned round split shot that look like BB's or Shot. The round split shot seem to bounce off of the rocks a bit better. You might wish to compare the two sometime. Loved your video.
Alex, So glad they finally worked for you. Feels good to be the only one catching! I wonder if in that current, a drop shot rig would have worked. 🤔 Thanks for mentioning my name, my 7 year-old daughter go a kick out of it.
@@RealisticFishing I'd suggest a Tackle Advisor vid on rigging tips for mice tails, th-cam.com/video/lTN1ZdbwY0M/w-d-xo.html makes them weedless, and improves hook up ratio. Something to consider. Can't do much about the weight, though.
Really enjoying your videos as of lately. You're my new favorite TH-cam fisherman! All of my old favorites got waaaaay too commercialized. Keep keepin' it real!
I have never seen those things before but looks like itd be worth a try. Might get lucky on the chattooga river with them, provided i can get me some boots like that. Awesome trout man. Made me hungry thinking of fish tacos lol. Keep it up man, love your vids
Well Alex it's supposed to be in the 60s this weekend. Hope your able to get out there and catch some good ones and I will try to also. Great video and nice investment in the boots 👊👍.
I enjoy watching your videos. Especially the trash removal videos haha. One thing that will help with the snags is going with a smaller weight. It will still snag if the current catches the line just right but after about 2 or 3 snags I put a smaller weight on and rarely have an issue. Also I love using the mice/mouse tails with a trout magnet bobber.
Great video, and I really enjoy the detail to the proper bait name pronunciation :D In all seriousness, I really appreciate your channel, keep up the good work!
I used the same mouse tails in Ca and got some trout with them. I also used some with white heads and red tails as well as red heads with yellow tails. I am in Tx now but both my local lakes are at the flood stage and fishing is not good it either one unless you have a boat and can get out on it. Have done done fishing on Ft. Hood on a couple different stocked lakes and did get a 18 lb cat a couple days ago at Nolan Lake.
hey Alex, if you can find the mice tails in natural/red or red/natural (head then tail color) they work amazing on crappie here in the north with a slow retrieve imitating a tadpole during late spring early summer.
This is helpful, I'll definitely be trying these. Have you tried the power honey worms? Really appreciate the trout series of videos. Have a good weekend man👊
Cool fishing Alex ....love fishing for trout myself...I usually rig it like Carolina ....or Texas rig ....much more heavier weight....Especially with that strong current....awesome again Keep up with the trout fishing....my favorite 👍👍
wow - nice catch on these things. I have a couple of colors of the mice tails and tried them many times and never caught nothing. I usually put them on a jig hook and jig them but... no luck for me..

How long have you been trying?
About a month
The boots, the new rod, the meese tails. winning combo.
Glad they paid off. I'm looking at waders for the river behind my house. Full of smallies, no trout that I know off.
