Trout magnets are one of my favorite bait for trout, panfish and crappies. Some of my biggest trout came from all white, Red and white and the color you are using. I just tie straight to the little jig and just jig through the pools. At times tough to cast but 2 or 4 lbs test will get it done. Great video again

Jason Beck Fishing I go weightless when I can but in North GA streams trout will gather at 4-6 foot deep pools at the end of a rapid so a bb or bullet sinker rigged like Realistic is how we do it to get the jig down, especially wading where you are casting across current. I never notice that the fish care about the weight if you get the Trout Magnet in front of them.

TM on a 1/64 jighead with 2lb or 4lb test line is extremely effective, with or without the float. If you need to increase your casting distance just add a spit shot just below the float.

2 lb mono backing w/2 lb fluorocarbon leader on the gold trout magnet jig head
Trout Magnet adjustable float bobber just above the leader knot ( 12" - 15" ) up
Dark/neon green, Yellow or white all kill them at any time.
Just cast upstream and let it dead float back down past you!

I use the all white version of that trout magnet with a smaller hook, a lighter split shot and an ultra-light rig with 2lb line. I also don't let it drift. From the second it hits the water, I'll slowly reel it back in. You want the tail to wiggle as much as possible. Ideally you want to get as close to the center of the stream as possible and go from the edge towards the middle. I've caught hundreds of trout over the years with that simple setup and technique..

    • @thomasflickinger1949

Trout magnets are by far my favorite lure. They catch everything. I've caught more bass on them than any other lures probably. Also, the crappie magnets are basically a slightly bigger version of those so it tends to weed out smaller fish.
I've also never not used them with the trout magnet jig so that was interesting to see. I use the jig for so many other lures as well. It's great.

I've had great luck with trout magnets- jigging, dropshot, under a float, and even as the small lure in a tandem rig (I use one larger flashy or bright colored attractor lure and a small natural looking lure 8"-10" down the line). I've even used the micro trout magnet on a fly rod. Aside from live worms they have been the most productive trout catcher for me. I think the trick is learning which techniques to use for which situations. I think they are best suited for moving water with at least some deeper holes, but I have caught trout with them in just about every type of trout water.

The guys at the local pond im my area. They don't like the fact that I use the Trout Magnet lol. They all talk down. But I'm the only 1 catching cast after cast. Have you tried the Trout slayer Kit From Lelands Trout Magnet Brand? They work awesomely Baby Craw Fish for Trout

I think someone already mentioned it, but you can try adding the trout magnet floats above your pinch on weight. I have really good luck with the pink powerbait worms neko rigged under pretty much the same setup, float too. You also need to try Joe's Fly's, I have the most success with the 1/4oz ones, white or natural colors.

I feel like you ought to check out some of the official videos on the trout magnet on their website. They make a special hook that causes the lure to drive the fish crazy. A combination of that, a split shot weight (smallest size) with a gentle vibrating motion on the rod will solve your snag problem and double your fish load. The things amazing!

I dont want to have to buy a special hook. Thats not very realistic

A great way to use them is on a bob set drifting down the current. Also you should try spinners or spoons

Think that rig would work with a float? I like the heavy split shot you did because they are so light and you need wait to cast.

I would try using the Trout Magnet with a float and the jig head they come with to keep the snags away. I catch everything on one including Channel cats early in the morning.

I might have to try some spinner over there. I just dont want to snag em since they cost a few bucks each.

This is a late comment but I notice some people suggesting a rooster tail. I would say try a Mepps aglia #1 spinner without the skirt. They’re only a buck and some change and it has been working wonders. I usually catch my trout in the chattahoochee river down in GA. Less snags and if you do manage to get a snag, you won’t feel too bad cuz they aren’t that expensive. You can get them at your local Walmart. Great vid btw I’m definitely subbing

You should try to "bow and arrow" your line when you get a snag.
    (tension and then snap it)
Works great when you're using braid
